Spirit Soul

Chapter 87 Revolt

Chapter 87 Revolt

Handing over the responsibility of the Lohars to Laila, Gaby left with the Jars and the two young, unconscious adventurers.

Asking Laila to look after the rescued Lohars was not an ideal option.

She was not accepted by her kind and chances of clashes were not negligible.

But, the Lohars would have to accept her right now!

If not, they would have to leave the town immediately.

After all, she was the one who had convinced the Aldras of Vila town to let them stay.

And, as the Guildmaster of Vila town, they had to obey her, even if some were against her decision.

Meanwhile, Gaby had to explain many things after they had reached the Jars' home.

But the most important was to give Kyle and Selene a little bit more comfort.

The three gently placed Kyle and Selene on their respective beds to let them get adequate rest.

Gaby also communicated to the Jars that Selene had to overcome the burden of her affinity awakening.

The others couldn't really do anything actively to lessen her burden.

But the best they could do was give her the opportunity to absorb more mana and primordial energy from her surroundings.

Thus, they laid out a small bulk of high-quality Maest and Pryr crystals around her. Selene subconsciously absorbed the energies from them.

Additionally, Mell gently opened her mouth and poured a vial with a green liquid that was supposed to calm her down on the inside.

At the same time, Gard prepared a medicinal bath for Kyle, and then surrounded it with high-quality Maest crystals.

Once the two young adventurers were fully tended to, Gaby got the chance to explain what had happened.

In the end, the entire mission turned out to be more complex than they had hoped for.

But having saved more than 2500 Lohars was already a great feat.

Escaping from the settlement had been chaotic.

What was frightening was the way the chubby merchant was able to control the heavy armored earthworms.

But all of this was secondary to the Jars.

What mattered was that everyone had survived.

Interestingly, Mell was even glad that Gaby had survived too.

They might have prejudices against each other after Lars' death, but time had partially healed their wounds.

All of them had suffered owing to Mell's son's death.

Right now, tending to their students and finding more about the chubby merchant was more important.

An internal conflict was not something they had time to bother about.

With the arrival of Lohars, the town was bustling once again.

Meanwhile, three days had passed before Selene finally regained her consciousness.

Her head was still aching heavily, and moving even a single inch made her wince in pain in the beginning.

However, this was only because her entire body felt sore, which only slowly receded.

Nevertheless, barely a few hours later she was able to finally step out of the bed.

With slow and careful steps she moved around under little pain.

It was then that she heard about Kyle still being unconscious.

Worried about him, she had stormed into his room to find a large bathtub.

The herbal aroma of the medicinal bath permeated the air.

The strong scent hit her nostrils and she knew that the medicinal solution was potent.

Despite that, she was still worried about him.

But when she sensed his strong energy fluctuations, this fear turned out to be completely groundless.

Dragged out of Kyle's room by Gard, she could only see a glimpse of his blond, almost golden hair and closed eyes before the wooden door was closed again.

'Arashi was not there...is Kyle's condition possibly because of his Spirit Soul?' Selene suddenly questioned herself before she asked the others the same.

Gaby had spent the last few days at the Jars house because she had also been worried about Kyle and Selene.

Seeing that Selene only cared about Kyle, even after the mistake, he had made worried Gaby.

She couldn't help but wonder when the young Lohar would become a little bit more selfish.

If Selene would always care more about Kyle than anyone else, it would probably not end up good for her.

This wouldn't necessarily be bad, and she had seen their bond.

But, in Gaby's opinion, Selene had to learn how to value her own life.

The slave life was in the past so now she had to find ways of overcoming it and come out of that mentality.

"Selene, once you feel better, I would recommend you to visit the district where we have established a temporary camp for the Lohars.

They're still worried, don't know what to do, and their panic is slowly seeping into Vila town's citizens.

It's unfortunate but they don't listen to Laila, or anyone else.

I can understand that you don't want to act as the Lohar race's noble, but it is necessary, I'm sorry!"

Instead of denying her request, Selene simply nodded her head.

She was still trying to sense the difference in her body.

Something about her had fundamentally changed, but she had yet to get the hang of it.

Kyle had said that she should accept the 'darkness' or something like that.

But, he hadn't been able to finish his sentence.

Hence, she could only assume that it was something they had already been talking about!

'Was it true what he said about the darkness seed I may awaken in the future? Was that what Kyle meant?'

She was confused, and still, a little bit befuddled.

But with a slow and steady pace, the puzzle pieces were falling together.

As such, she was able to tell what was likely to happen in her body.

Her eyes flicked to Gaby, who was nodding her head.

"If necessary, I can visit them, that is not an issue.

But I would feel better to wait for a day or two…"

Despite saying that she only required a few days, it would be best for Selene to wait longer.

She aimed to learn to control her darkness affinity first.

If she were to show it to the Lohars, they would quiet down in an instant.

Yet, now they were facing a time crunch.

Selene was perfectly aware of it which made her sigh.

Meanwhile, Gaby explained the entire town's situation thoroughly.

"To put it simply, it might be possible that some adventurers might start raising their voice against the Lohars.

We cannot deny the possibility that even citizens will soon attack the Lohars. Everyone is just too anxious about the entire situation.

The details of the battle had spread through the town like wildfire. The Lohars' arrival in addition to the Blood Nasgas, and several heavy armored earthworms caused deep fear within everyone.

A large number of town people are beginning to think that it might be better to banish the Lohars from the town.

As such, please tell the Lohars to quiet down for a few days. If that happens the Aldras have no reason to attack them. This would prevent a civil war between the two races from breaking out.

In the end, everyone knew that war would only lead to death and chaos, no matter which side won.

It was bound to hurt the children and innocent people of both the Aldras and Lohars!

Because of that, it was the best to act careful and pay attention to the behavior of others too.

In a few days, someone from the Lahin kingdom is supposed to arrive too!

The Guild was fortunate enough to encounter a small group of soldiers and their leader a few days ago.

When they heard of the rescue mission and what had happened, they immediately reported everything to the Lahin kingdom.

These groups of soldiers were asked to take care of the Lohars and bring them back to the kingdom.

As such, it should only take a few more days for them to arrive. This would solve all their problems. Hopefully, it will also negate all the potential threats in the future too."

Selene was astonished to hear all of this.

Her discomfort at the thought of someone arriving from the Lahin kingdom was evident.

She was visibly distressed at the thought.

Her expression was stiff, but Selene still nodded her head.

"I..will try my best!"

Gaby felt sorry for the huge responsibility she was throwing on the young girl.

In the little time she had spent with her, she had sensed how hard Selene's life had been so far.

Selene was barely adjusting to her new life and now she was suddenly expected to behave and act like a responsible and mature person.

In a way, Gaby and the others were forcing her to lead those who had abandoned her when she was considered trash.

Now, the tables had turned, and she was like a higher noble to them.

Selene wasn't sure what made her feel more uncomfortable- the thought of meeting someone from the Lahin kingdom in a few days or being a noble.

Looking at the wooden stairs that led towards the second floor, Selene hoped that Kyle would wake up.

She needed him to come down, and help her.

Ever since meeting him, she had begun to rely on him for mental support, and acting as her safety net.

Unfortunately, Kyle was still unconscious.

Thus, she had to make a decision on her own. After thinking about it for a while, Selene could only bite her lower lip nervously before she replied,

"Let's go then…"

Saying so, Selene sighed deeply before she left the Jars' home along with Gaby.

On the other hand, Gard, who had observed everything silently, was deep in thought.

He only listened intently to everything that had happened throughout the last few days, and let out an exasperated sigh.

He had a bad feeling about the entire situation, and there was one thing that worried him the most.

"Is it only me, or does it feel like the town guards may start revolting against the Guild? They're acting weird despite knowing that the Lohars are in need of a shelter… It has only been a few days and everything seems to be escalating… I really don't know if Gaby and the Guildmaster's idea will be helpful either.

Even if the Lohars are staying inside the house and won't even step out for the next few days, it feels like something will happen...Just what are the guards thinking?!"

His gut feeling told him that somebody was pulling the strings from afar, that something bad was about to happen.

The way things had turned out in the last few months could only mean the same.

Not only had they been forced to leave Alsa village as it had been overrun by a small horde of beasts at the Vitae stage, but now, there were multiple issues with Vila town.

It felt as if fate was driving them out of every place that they wanted to call 'home'.

However, more worrisome was the fact that everything had to do with the chubby merchant, Knar Laz, and the Nasga race.

Both of them were the main culprits, and the reason for the issues inside the Sadorla Forest.

Despite that, Gard felt as if everything was even more complex than it seemed before.

The incident from three years ago had also something to do with Blood Nasgas, which made her worry about the situation.

'Is everything connected, or what happened three years ago was just an unfortunate accident?'

While his mind was churning with thoughts, there was something else that made Gard worry.

Even Mell found it suspicious, and she was quite a simple person!

Guard Dirk was the head of the guards who were likely to revolt against the Guild.

He had possibly riled them up because the Guild had allowed the Lohars to rest in the town for a few days!

His behavior had changed drastically since one particular day.

It was the day Gaby had regained her eyesight!
