Chapter 93 Invitation
Chapter 93 Invitation
'Brother?!'
The revelation made all of the others around the siblings look at them in astonishment.
Kyle was taken aback to discover their relationship.
Meanwhile, others could only look from Laila to Sven.
Now that they realized how the two were related to each other, their subconscious mind began to look for similarities in the two Lohars' appearance.
There were quite a few if one looked carefully.
But everyone's hopes of a joyous reunion were shattered only a second later.
It surprised not just the others but even Laila who had not expected such a reaction from her brother.
Without warning, Sven released a terrific pressure that originated from the primordial energy and his life force.
He seemed to lash out in an unrestrained manner, oppressing everyone.
"Don't call me that!!" He spit out angrily.
His eyes were burning with rage that was directed at Laila.
Laila flinched to hear him as his eyes turned away from her.
Meanwhile, Kyle could only shake his head.
'Didn't you look at her softly a moment ago?! Is that another problem of the Lohar race's tradition? To treat your sibling like trash....or just his?'
The Guildmaster might be a Variant of the Lohar race, but Kyle believed that Sven was lashing out unnecessarily.
Kyle, who had no siblings or family, would have loved to have one despite their shortcomings or abnormalities.
Selene had wanted to say something, but the tense environment held her back.
Sensing the awkwardness of the situation, she was unable to even open her mouth.
The situation was a mess, and Sven took a moment to calm himself down.
As his eyes traveled to Kyle and Selene, he noticed their twisted expression.
Only then did he realize what he had done.
His angry outburst had affected not just his sister but a noble as well.
"I deeply apologize, My Lady. I hope you can forgive me!" He quickly added in a regretful voice.
Simultaneously, he retracted his primordial energy fluctuations as he kneeled down on one knee.
"I-Its..fine...let's just...go?" Selene's voice was filled with uncertainty and confusion.
Accepting Sven's apology sounded more like a question than a statement.
Hearing her, made Kyle give her a small and reassuring smile.
He wondered when Selene would stop being nervous.
Meanwhile, his eyes turned towards Gaby.
He wanted to say something to her.
But, she was already approaching Laila, whose shoulders hung low as she looked to the ground. Sven's words had deeply affected her, and she felt like he had slapped her even without touching her.
Kyle was eyeing him curiously.
From what Kyle could tell, the Captain of the Soldiers unit didn't dislike him anymore.
Kyle's act of saving Selene had mellowed him a little.
But other than that, he seemed to be hostile towards the Aldras race in general.
And, it seemed that Laila had received the brunt of his hate.
As such, Kyle remained quiet and didn't say anything.
He simply led the Soldier unit to the Lohars, who were waiting for them anxiously.
They were allowed to step out of their temporary shelters and were eager to return home once again.
They felt a little bit weird because Selene's motivational speech had ended less than an hour ago.
But they were relieved to see that the Soldiers of the Lahin kingdom had already arrived.
Sven and the soldiers caused a huge commotion as they marched towards the Lohars.
This made every citizen of Vila town watch them with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity.
However, Sven was in no mood to entertain the curious crowd of onlookers.
Thus, he snapped his fingers after amplifying them with primordial energy, when he thought that it was enough.
An extremely loud noise, followed by a subtle shockwave was generated by Sven's simple snap of his fingers.
Following it, he amplified his voice as well.
"Dear Lohars, I don't want to waste everyone's time. As such, I will say it only once. Tomorrow with the first sun rays we will depart to the borders of the Lahin kingdom.
Every single Lohar is free to come with us, but we won't force anyone. Our protection can never be guaranteed as we are a small troop.
We need you all to act careful while traveling with us.
Only then can we have the best chances to pay attention to thousands of Lohars, right?
With that being said, our only request from you is to pay heed to our commands until we reach the borders of the Lahin kingdom.
After we safely take you back, you guys will be able to make a living for yourself!"
Saying so Sven ended his short speech.
His words made a few Lohars furrow their eyebrows and look at each other in confusion.
Wanting to clear their doubts, they asked him a few questions.
But, Sven turned a deaf ear to them. Instead, he looked at Selene as he said with a bow.
"My Lady, if you want to travel with us back to the Lahin kingdom, we would be more than delighted. It would be an honor to invite your noble presence to our small migration tour through the Sadorla forest!"
Hearing Sven made Kyle shake his head.
He had the urge to call him a hypocrite but refrained from doing so.
'Is the hierarchical system of the Lahin kingdom really like that, or is Sven just extremely loyal, and a pursuer of the Lohar race's tradition?' He suddenly wondered.
It was shocking to hear that Selene had been invited to the Lahin kingdom.
However, the way Sven spoke to nobody else except Selene made him frown. Kyle had also realized that Sven was only talking about the Lohars and Selene, nobody else.
The fact didn't go unnoticed by Selene either.
Even she had clearly understood that Sven was avoiding naming anyone else.
This caused her to ask without any hesitance.
"What about Kyle?"
It was funny how quickly Selene could change her behavior.
Just a minute ago, she was hesitating to even speak.
But now, she had forgotten her earlier timidness.
To Kyle, it seemed like she had even forgotten their initial plan to stay with the Jars for longer.
Both of them had decided to learn more about the auxiliary occupation while reaping the benefits of having solved the Guild's customized mission.
However, after today's events, everything had changed to a certain degree.,
Both Kyle and Selene had to acknowledge that it was not safe to stay in Vila town.
The failed assassination attempt had shaken their earlier confidence.
They were even beginning to doubt if even the Sadorla forest was safe anymore.
Selene would soon be known as a noble of the Lahin kingdom.
Hence, every greedy Aldra or Nasga would try to kidnap her in order to claim ransom.
Their greed could even make them do worse things to her.
Kyle feared that someone might try making her a slave once again.
There were definitely some leeches who would be excited to purchase and 'take care' of the nobility from the Lohar race.
Too many things could happen now that many knew about Selene's being elevated to the ranks of nobility overnight.
Initially, Kyle hadn't expected this to be the case.
But, it was crystal clear after hearing and witnessing what happened.
Seeing how Sven avoided Selene's question made her repeat it once again.
This time she added a bit more confidence and decisiveness to her voice.
Even Kyle was surprised to see this change in her.
"If Kyle is not allowed to enter the Lahin kingdom, there is no way that I will set foot in it either!!"
She looked at Sven for a reply and he was confused for a moment.
Not knowing how to answer without annoying her, his eyes flicked to Kyle.
He only shrugged in response so Sven replied with a sigh.
"Because I'm only a commoner, I don't know much about nobility rights. But if I remember correctly a Baroness is allowed to have a few bodyguards, slaves or other subordinates from other races.
Unfortunately, I cannot promise anything. Please forgive me, My Lady!"
Selene calmed down when she heard his reply.
Now, it was now possible for her to enter the Lahin kingdom with Kyle.
At least, if Sven's words were true.
Thus, there was no need to be agitated or anxious about separating from Kyle.
Only now did she recall that the crowd of Lohars were still standing in the alley.
They were trying to figure out answers to the questions they had on their mind.
Despite the loud noises, Sven behaved as if he couldn't hear them.
All his attention was focussed on Selene as he added further,
"My Lady, I don't know if this is the correct time to ask this. But, we got the information that someone gave you a golden seal of chivalry. Is this correct?"
Not sure what Sven wanted to figure out, Selene simply nodded her head.
She took the golden seal of chivalry out of her spatial ring and showed it to him.
Seeing the medallion, Sven's eyes widened. He released faint threads of his primordial energy which enveloped the seal of chivalry carefully.
His eyes went wide before he mumbled,
"It really is the original…"
A moment later, he regained his senses only to say,
"My Lady, I'm sorry to say this, but the golden seal of chivalry is not something a noble of the lowest rank is supposed to possess.
To be precise, it is forbidden, and not even Earls are allowed to possess them.
The situation under which you found the seal was unique.
It was hoarded from the village he had been born in.
But now that the said village is destroyed, the seal has to return to the person it belongs to!"
The two of them didn't know who the 'he', Sven was talking about, was.
However, in the end, it didn't really matter to them.
Selene simply handed the golden seal of chivalry to Sven.
She showed no signs of reluctance as she added,
"I never planned on keeping it, either way. You can have it!"
Eying the seal that now laid in his hand, Sven was not sure what to make of the Lohar in front of him.
He was becoming nervous, thinking of how to make Selene, the Baroness join him in their trip to the Lahin kingdom if possible.
'Why do I feel like this will become much harder than I expected...was she right with her assumption? How can I convince her to return with us...let alone to become a loyal subject to the Queen… is that even possible with this young girl's background?'
Holding the back of his head, Sven brushed his hands over his red hair.
He was trying to come up with a valid reason for Selene to follow him.
But, other than the obvious special treatment of a noble, and security, he couldn't think of much.
'I can just think of something until tomorrow…'
"Thank you for your trust in me. I will protect the golden seal of chivalry with my life, if necessary! I sincerely hope that My Lady will consider the invitation to enter the Lahin kingdom.
If you do so, many things will become much easier than they currently are within the Sadorla Forest!"
Selene nodded her head, unsure of what else she was supposed to say.
But, this time it was Kyle who suddenly intervened.
"Certainly, Selene will consider the invitation. She may give you a positive answer tomorrow after having thought about it properly. If you excuse us now, we have many things to think about!"
Saing so, Kyle didn't even wait for Sven's reply.
He instantly grabbed Selene's hand to leave their current location as quickly as possible.
It was only a few seconds later that the scenario Kyle had predicted occurred.
The confused Lohars had surrounded the lizard-like mounts and soldiers to bombard them with questions.
Sven was also surrounded by tens of Lohars, who wanted answers.
He could only look at Kyle and Selene helplessly as they disappeared into a dark alley.
At that moment, he saw a faint smile on Kyle's face, which caused Sven to smile too.
'He is not bad…'
Only a moment later, his expression stiffened again.
Sven turned serious while looking at the Lohars with cold eyes as if nothing had happened.
