Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1098: Pointing Fingers

From the time Shang Xia intentionally released his aura, to the time he broke into the Guyuan Elysium to kill Gu Chengwu with the help of Yun Hu, to the time he activated the Six Harmony Teleportation Talisman to leave the Spirit Faith World, only a short amount of time passed.

It was so short that the True Immortals of the Spirit Faith World didn’t have time to rush over, and everything happened so quickly that Yun Hu also had time to leave before the others arrived.

In a certain location above the heavenly screen, a middle-aged woman clad in coarse robes with hair tied up in a wooden hairpin. She was a little chubby and she seemed to be waiting for someone.

Not too far away, a mushroom cloud-like burst of energy smashed against the heavenly screen, and large swathes of energy scattered out of the world.

The next second, Yun Hu appeared beside her.

Merely shooting him a glance, the female cultivator turned back to look at the burst of qi not too far away.

“Did you find traces of the spatial fluctuations of True Immortal Shang when he left?” Yun Hu seemed pretty familiar with her and he asked as soon as he arrived.

The female cultivator shook her head and muttered, “I am only able to detect that someone passed through the heavenly screen to leave the Spirit Faith World but I am unable to detect any traces of where he went. There is no way of tracking him down either.”

Both of them no longer spoke after a single exchange. They released their domains the next instant and smashed them against each other. Even the heavenly screen beneath them started to tremble.

Yun Hu was a third tier True Immortal, and a powerful one at that. He quickly gained the upper hand.

Even though her domain was suppressed, she was able to hold her ground as she focused solely on protecting herself.

“Enough!” A roar came from beside them the next second.

A tyrannical aura came between them as it drew on the power of the world to force them apart.

The person who appeared was the fourth tier Elysium True Immortal, Yan Huayi! He was also the strongest expert of the Spirit Faith World.

If a third tier True Immortal reached the level of External Unity and reached a state of complete harmony with the world around them, a fourth tier True Immortal who reached the level of Dao Harmony was basically the same existence as the World’s Will! They truly reached the level of becoming the heavens!

“You guys arrived first... What exactly happened?! Why did Gu Chengwu die? How did the Guyuan Elysium crumble?” Yan Huayi suppressed the second tier and third tier True Immortals the moment he arrived. Everyone could hear the fury in his voice.

As he questioned, the void above the heavenly screen trembled and another Elysium True Immortal of the Spirit Faith World appeared.

Since the Guyuan Elysium crumbled, it was clear to everyone that Gu Chengwu had been slain.

Everything happened so quickly that the True Immortals of the Spirit Faith World didn’t even have time to rush over before it was over.

Who the hell...

There was no doubt about it. In their minds, the foreign True Immortal Shang who was at the level of Inner Fusion had to be the culprit!

However... Gu Chengwu was also a second tier True Immortal! He was in his territory and could draw on the power of his Elysium! How could anyone kill him alone? Without his approval, who would be able to enter the Guyuan Elysium?

Was the foreign True Immortal really the only person responsible for Gu Chengwu’s death?

The middle aged woman sneered coldly, “When I arrived, True Immortal Yun Hu was already here.”

Yun Hu snorted in response, “Are you implying that I’m the person who colluded with the foreign expert to kill True Immortal Gu?!”

“I’m just describing what happened.” The female cultivator grunted coldly.

In return, Yun Hu chuckled coldly, “Why did the energy that emerged after the destruction of the Guyuan Elysium flow towards the Carefree Elysium?”

Seeing the change in expression on the female cultivator’s face, Yun Hu continued to mock, “True Immortal Meng Han, I believe when you arrived, you were here for the remnant energy of the Elysium... You didn’t think that I would come before you and you had no choice but to give up on your plans. Who would have thought that you would take the chance to sling some shit at me when the others came...”

After hearing Yun Hu’s reminder, the various True Immortals of the Spirit Faith World who were arriving quickly extended their divine souls to discover the remnant energy being sucked towards the Carefree Elysium in the southeastern direction.

Their gazes turned a little strange as they stared at Meng Han. There were even some experts who came from the Azure Roaming World who revealed complicated expressions. However, none of them said anything.

Seeing their reactions, Meng Han trembled slightly. Even though she was far from being as calm as she looked, she quickly explained, “Of the 3 Elysium Gates, which one of them isn’t trying to absorb more essence qi from the world? My Carefree Elysium is merely closer to the Guyuan Elysium...”

“Right. Yun Hu gave me a good reminder. You came earlier than all of us. If I’m not mistaken, you would be completely covered in the remnant energy of the Guyuan Elysium. Why don’t you try proving your innocence now?” Meng Han continued.

Everyone turned to look at Yun Hu the next second as they awaited his response.

There were already a few True Immortals present who were revealing looks of mockery as they observed the great show playing out before them.

With his hair billowing in the wind, Yun Hu no longer had the amicable appearance of an elder.

Meng Han couldn’t help but continue to provoke him, “What’s the matter? You don’t dare to admit it?”

Suppressing the anger and annoyance in his heart, he forced himself to calm down. Eventually, he snorted, “I’m not afraid of embarrassing myself in front of everyone. I arrived first, and when I came, I saw that the Guyuan Elysium was already on the brink of collapse. I rushed into it in order to save anyone I could while trying to see if there was anything salvageable. Unfortunately, the collapse had already reached the point of no return and in order to resist the spatial disturbance, I had to release my domain. It’s nothing strange to be stained by the remnant energy...”

“So did you manage to find traces of True Immortal Gu? Or did you save any lucky survivors from the Guyuan Sect?” Meng Han pressed.

In a low voice, Yun Hu growled, “By the time I entered, it was already too late. True Immortal Gu’s aura had already scattered. Since the battle broke out inside the Elysium, how can anyone survive if even Gu Chengwu had been killed by the enemy? I was only trying my luck to find any fortunate survivors.”

Meng Han grumbled, “True Immortal Yun Hu, even if you failed to save anyone, I’m sure you managed to obtain quite a bit of treasure contained within.

Glaring at her, Yun Hu continued, “True Immortal Meng Han, are you really planning to make things difficult for me?”

Keeping her distance from him, she continued her accusations as she didn’t wish to reveal any weakness. “What’s the matter? True Immortal Yun Hu, are you planning to attack me because you can’t lie your way out of this anymore? Hmph, I’ll fight you if that’s what you want!”

Meng Han barely spoke when another powerful wave of energy rose from the heavenly screen. The next instant, 3 factions of True Immortals formed. 2 groups glared down at the other while the final group seemed to be content watching them fight.

It was then that Yan Huayi, who had been silent the whole time, finally interjected. “Brother Lan, since you fought against the foreign True Immortal in the past, do you think he has the ability to kill Gu Chengwu alone?”

Everyone turned to look around but didn’t find any traces of Lan Zhengfeng. The only other person who seemed to feel something was Yun Hu and he cast his glance at a certain spot in the void.

As soon as Yan Huayi spoke, spatial fluctuations emerged and Lan Zhengfeng’s figure emerged from the void. He turned to look at Yan Huayi before declaring decisively, “He does.”

Lan Zhengfeng’s revelation shocked many True Immortals present. Many of them started discussing Shang Xia.

Those who took part in fighting Shang Xia back then didn’t find it surprising at all.

Back then, they knew that Shang Xia was surrounded by a third tier True Immortal, 2 second tier True Immortals, and another first tier True Immortals. There were 4 of them in total, and even though they planned to capture him alive, none of them could do shit to him! They could only watch as he defended himself against their continuous assault.

From their perspective, Shang Xia definitely had the ability to kill an expert of the same level.

The problem was how he managed to kill Gu Chengwu in such a short amount of time! It happened so quickly that none of the True Immortals could arrive in time to provide assistance!

Yan Huayi’s gaze lingered on Yun Hu and Meng Han for a moment longer before he mumbled softly, “Since that’s the case, there’s no need for the 2 of you to continue fighting and trying to frame each other. True Immortal Gu died in the hands of the foreign expert and it seems like we have underestimated him. Let’s not forget that he has an ability to infiltrate our world without being detected. Entering the Guyuan Elysium shouldn’t prove to be a problem at all. The only reason he succeeded was because of True Immortal Gu’s negligence...”

Yan Huayi seemed to have reached his conclusion. Despite Yun Hu and Meng Han looking like they were reluctant to accept the outcome, they didn’t dare to say anymore.

Yan Huayi added, “It’s been so long since a foreign world appeared. It’s clear that the foreign expert harbors no good intentions for us. I’m afraid our Three Worlds will once again face an invasion like that of the Spirit Emptiness World... If we cannot band together and act as united as before, I’m afraid our worlds will cease to exist...”

Regardless of which world they came from or which factions they had an allegiance to, the True Immortals standing above the heavenly screen turned serious the next second.

“Brother Yan, you’re absolutely right! Our enemy is in the dark while we’re in the light, and we definitely cannot have any internal strife!” Lan Zhengfeng glanced at Yan Huayi before turning to look at Yun Hu and Meng Han. He continued to ask, “What do you guys think?”

Yun Hu grunted softly and he seemed to become a lot more solemn about the matter. “Of course I understand what we have to do!”

Meng Han seemed to take a more tacit way when responding, “Of course we have to stand together since he’s not a part of us. I will definitely protect the interests of our worlds!”

Seeing the source of the internal conflict suppressed by Yan Huayi and Lan Zhengfeng, the situation of the Three Worlds seemed to become a lot more stable. Many True Immortals also heaved a sigh of relief.

It was then that Yan Huayi spoke again. “Brother Lan, you’re still holding the Tracking Compass. The foreign expert has already escaped from our worlds, but are you able to detect his location?”

Lan Zhengfeng shook his head in response. “The Tracking Compass possesses limited capabilities. Since he entered our world, it barely managed to give an approximate location of our target. Now, I’m afraid we won’t be able to find him at all...”

Yan Huayi nodded slowly. He wasn’t surprised by that and he eventually mumbled, “Since they have already displayed their hostility, there’s no need for us to maintain any sense of cordiality with them any longer. The Star Beast Nest no longer needs to exist.”

Lan Zhengfeng nodded in acknowledgment. “Indeed... I will handle this matter!”

“Perfect. I will also follow Brother Lan in getting rid of the outsiders’ stronghold!” Yun Hu quickly added.

Meng Han didn’t wish to show that she was any weaker than him and growled, “I will head over as well!”
