Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1369: Returning

Chapter 1369: Returning

Chapter 1369: Returning

Without a doubt, the Wanyun Association used Seventh Order energy in their precious strike.

Even though it destroyed an Elysium like what the Twin Star Pirates did, it did far more damage to the Spirit Dawn World.

The destruction of the Elysium meant that the Elysium True Immortal was definitely killed, but it also damaged the connection of the Elysium to the World Origin Source, causing even more world origin to leak out!

With the extent of damage it caused, nearly half the continent crumbled. The Free True Immortal who relied on the spirituality of the continent to advance would also suffer heavy injuries.

Looking at the strike from the Star Ship, Shang Xia could determine that it struck near the center of the world. That also meant that they hit close to the core strength of the world. After all, any faction that could establish themselves there would definitely be one of the strongest!

According to what was shared with him, the Elysium they struck was most likely the First Dawn Sect, the strongest faction of the Spirit Dawn World. They had a third tier Elysium True Immortal, and an expert at the level of Returning to the Origin. Their fifth tier True Immortal was the only expert at that level in the Spirit Dawn World, and he most likely relied on the spirituality of the central continent to ascend.

With the destruction of the First Dawn Elysium and half the continent, their fifth tier True Immortal would be weakened by at least a third!

The number of experts beneath the Martial Void Realm who died couldn’t even be counted. They suffered such catastrophic damages... That wasn’t even counting cultivators who died on other continents.

Because of the destruction, their morale took a huge hit, causing them to fumble slightly when planning their counterattack.

More importantly, due to the damages they suffered, the World’s Will was weakened. If the invaders were to enter their world, they wouldn’t be suppressed as strongly as before.

With 5 Elysiums, the Spirit Dawn World could no longer muster enough strength to make any significant counter attacks. The giant holes that had been created in the heavenly screen failed to restore itself even after a long time, and the continents of the Spirit Dawn World were revealed to the greedy vultures circling right outside.

The Wanyun Association’s ships and the Twin Star Pirates’ ship were barely 30,000 miles around the Spirit Dawn World at that point. Whatever weak defenses they still had couldn’t even shake the defensive barrier around the Star Ships.

Several tens of smaller Star Ships the Spirit Dawn World managed to activate from within rose past the heavenly screen and tried to meet the invaders, but Shang Xia quickly discovered powerful fluctuations coming from the 2 Star Ships behind his own.

When he turned around, those suspected Spirit Arks had already produced a massive spatial vortex within themselves. 5 smaller mid-sized Star Ships that looked completely new appeared from within. They rushed at the haphazardly gathered Star Ships from the Spirit Dawn World.

The 3 main ships didn’t pause after that as they continued to rush at the largest gap that had been torn in the heavenly screen.

As they closed in on the world, they were finally met with the counterattack from the True Immortals of the Spirit Dawn World.

Facing the first wave of defenders which consisted of at least 5 True Immortals with 1 high-level True Immortal among them, Gong Zhuo simply activated another Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman.

Colorful clouds appeared around the Capital Star Ship of the Wanyun Association as runes lit up all over the body of the ship. The runes resonated with the colorful around it and those clouds carefully wrapped up the ship in a layer of protection.

With the combined attack from the 5 True Immortals of the Spirit Dawn World, the colorful cloud around the ship was slowly torn apart, and the Star Ship slowed slightly. However, that was everything they could do.

The rolling clouds eventually gathered again, covering up the part that had been torn apart. Even though the Star Ships slowed, it continued to travel towards its target.

Before anyone else could react, Gong Zhuo rushed towards the enemy.

The timing he chose was perfect. The True Immortals who launched their attacks on the ship were recovering when Gong Zhuo’s weapon came crashing down on the high-level True Immortal.

The Spirit Dawn World’s high-level True Immortal was no weakling. Even though he was caught slightly off guard, he reacted quickly. He retreated among his fellow experts so that if Gong Zhuo were to rush in to fight them, he would be quickly surrounded.

Gong Zhuo was no Star Ship. He didn’t have strong defenses and even if he activated another Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman, he wouldn’t last long under their combined assault.

However... Gong Zhuo’s real goal wasn’t to fight them! He was only there to buy some time.

Shang Xia noticed his intentions, but he suddenly felt a strange energy pulling something back to the Star Ship he was on. He thought back to the Twin Star Pirates’ special techniques and the sharp point that had flown out to smash an Elysium earlier.

When he was wondering if they were in any danger, a massive object flew out from beneath the heavenly screen.

Shang Xia’s eyes widened in shock. The sharp point that destroyed an Elysium actually returned!

He was even more shocked by Gong Zhuo’s sneaky intentions. When he rushed out earlier, he made them reposition themselves in a way such that 3 of them had their backs to the gap in the heavenly screen formed by the sharp point. He was clearly using it as a trap as the True Immortals of the Spirit Dawn World had no idea a part of the ship that had been shot out would be able to return.

Gong Zhuo, who was prepared for it, raised the divine artifact in his hand. 2 of the True Immortals around him quickly retreated for fear they would become his target, giving him a chance to retreat.

The others were about to give chase in order to deal a heavy blow on Gong Zhuo, weakening their attackers, when their eyes went wide as they looked behind them fearfully.

Those 3 weren’t useless fools. Noticing danger coming from behind, they quickly made their preparations.

As they didn’t know exactly how strong the blow was coming from behind them, all 3 made different preparations. Other than 1 of them who used a talisman that was like the Teleportation Talisman Shang Xia made, the others tried different methods. 1 tried to run, while another activated a defensive talisman.

The person who tried to run was the high-level True Immortal and as he looked back at what was coming, the blood drained from his face.

The other who used the protection talisman seemed extremely confident in its defense. He also shattered several protective jades that created some sort of protection formation around him. Soon after...

A sharp point brushed past him, and the defensive formation he just activated turned to nothingness.

The high-level True Immortal who tried to dodge might have tried to protect himself the best he could. But with the sharp point that contained Seventh Order energy brushing past him, he was sent flying like a rag doll. He managed to keep his life because of his strong cultivation, but that was about it.

Only the expert who activated the teleportation talisman managed to remain unscathed.

Thump...

A dull thud rang across the Star Ship as the sharp point reattached itself.

How could Gong Zhuo give up a chance to beat a drowning dog? He turned around and rushed at the experts of the Spirit Dawn World, targeting the high-level True Immortal like he did before.

Shang Xia chuckled softly. The moment the sharp point returned, Shang Xia could determine that the Seventh Order energy the ship gathered had been used up.

The Wanyun Association’s Capital Star Ship’s strike actually consisted of 1 going out, and 1 returning.

... Shang Xia could feel the Star Ship gathering energy again after the sharp point returned, and this time, it was much faster than before.

He was intrigued, but he soon thought of something. He turned back to look into the void and noticed that the Star Ships of the Wanyun Association had returned from sealing off the Spirit Dawn World.

His attention was drawn back to the battle after hearing a miserable shriek. He saw a burst of energy causing a heavenly phenomenon above the heavenly screen of the Spirit Dawn World. The high-level True Immortal actually died under Gong Zhuo’s assault!

Looking at Gong Zhuo, Shang Xia could tell that he wasn’t exactly in the best of state either. His divine weapon was nowhere to be seen and he looked to be in an extremely sorry state. He might have killed the high-level True Immortal of the Spirit Dawn World, but he took the last ditch strike of his opponent head-on. He was surrounded by 3 other True Immortals and he looked like he wouldn’t be able to hold out.

What Shang Xia found strange was that even though Gong Zhuo was in a sticky situation, he didn’t call for Shang Xia’s help.

He might be suspicious, but he couldn’t watch as Gong Zhuo was surrounded and killed. He was about to rush out, but he saw Gong Zhuo tossing out 3 talismans in succession at his opponents. Under Shang Xia’s shocked gaze, Gong Zhuo escaped from their encirclement while they were flustered dealing with the effects of the talismans.

“True Immortal Shang, fortunately, you didn’t reveal yourself!” Gong Zhuo gasped as he noticed Shang Xia concealing his aura again.
