Chapter 750: Inhertiance
If one had to speak of the greatest improvement the Tongyou Institution experienced after the birth of the Tongyou Paradise 3 years ago, their student recruitment wouldn’t be the most significant matter. Neither would the huge increase of students in the Martial Extremity Realm or Martial Intent Realm.
Instead, it would be the appearance of many Martial Extermination Realm experts.
Because of multiple reasons, the number of Martial Dipper Realm experts in the Tongyou Institution could rival most of the Holy Lands out there. As a matter of fact, Kou Chongxue could be considered a supreme existence in the Martial Dipper Realm at that point.
The Tongyou Institution hadn’t been established for more than 30 years and if they ignored the number of Martial Dipper Realm experts, they used to lack mid-grade fighting strength of experts at the Martial Extermination Realm.
They had been trying to address the problem for a long time, but only after the fusion of the worlds and the birth of the Tongyou Paradise did the situation get better.
60 percent of the battlefield between the two worlds merging into the You Continent, along with a huge number of spiritual beasts seeking refuge in the Thousand Leaf Mountain Range, with the addition of the treasures nurtured by the Holy Land allowing them to obtain quite a number of extermination origins. Of course, they also obtained quite a few extermination origins through their own efforts or through trade fairs.
With the batch of extermination origins, many members of the Tongyou Institution who were restricted by lack of extermination origins no longer faced that problem. A new batch of Martial Extermination Realm experts was thus produced and allowed the institution to station experts of the Martial Extermination Realm in many key locations after the You Continent’s expansion.
As the spouse of the Tongyou Institution’s number 1 spy, Wei Qiongyi naturally received special treatment from the institution.
Originally, she entered the Martial Extermination Realm with the help of their super-spy, ‘Youshang’. Well, the man was called ‘Huang Yu’ now, but who cared what he was called? Regardless, she reached the second layer of the Martial Extermination Realm after receiving an extermination origin from the institution.
Back in the Manyu Continent, he agreed to Huang Yu’s request to take care of the pregnant Wei Qiongyi.
After returning to the institution, Shang Xia arranged for Wei Qiongyi to settle down close to Hai Min and Yuanyuan. He hired a few attendants to take care of her in his stead.
Shang Bo learned about what happened and in order to avoid possible misunderstandings from arising, he immediately used his authority as the Deputy Patriarch of the Tongyou Institution to stop Shang Xia from handling matters regarding Wei Qiongyi. He arranged for Shang Xi to take charge of matters instead.
Whatever it was, Wei Qiongyi’s relationship with Hai Min and Yuanyuan was pretty good.
As they left the institution together, they headed for the eastern residential area of the city before splitting off. Wei Qiongyi returned to her residence while Shang Xia went to look for Hai Min and Yuanyuan.
Like the time Shang Xia first ran into Hai Min, she still preferred living alone in a quiet courtyard without any servants to attend to her needs. She would be in charge of her daily life.
The 10 or so years that passed left no traces on her appearance. Her calm and dignified demeanor continued to attract Shang Xia as always.
Even though he had been going around the past few years, he would find time to return to the courtyard every time he was back in the Tongyou Institution. He didn’t even spend much time back in the Shang Clan Manor when he was back in the city.
Recently, Shang Xia discovered that the courtyard was a lot livelier than before.
“Sister Yuanyuan, can you take a look at my stance? I feel like I’ve been working hard on it, but my mother said that my standard is far from acceptable. She says that I will still need several years before I can be accepted into the Outer Division of the Tongyou Institution.”
A skinny-looking young boy asked while maintaining his stance in the courtyard. His question was directed at a young lady who seemed about 15 years of age.
Hai Yuanyuan looked pretty similar to Hai Min, and from the looks of it, she also exuded a calm aura. The only difference between herself and Hai Min was the fact that the young lady’s personality was a lot more reserved and cold. She would never intentionally dress up when attending classes in the institution but anyone could tell she was a cold beauty.
Currently, her attention was on a manual in her hand and after being interrupted by his question, she could only place the book down helplessly. She sighed, “Little Zheng, your mother is a teacher of the institution and she’s an expert in the Martial Extermination Realm. She should have worked heavily on your foundations... Why would you need my help?”
‘Little Zheng’ didn’t give up as he continued to pester her, “Sister Yuanyuan, please take a look at it! She says that I’m far too lacking in many aspects and I’m not good enough. I feel that I already work really hard... She just can’t be satisfied. Every time she lectures me, she will tell me all about how great you are in the Inner Division of the institution and tell me to learn from you!”
Hai Yuanyuan glanced at her mother who was preparing dinner before sighing helplessly, “Little Zheng, actually, your stance is already great. Your mother said that to you in order to make you work harder. There won’t be many kids your age whose foundations will be much better than yours.”
“Really?” A look of joy appeared on the boy’s face and he quickly continued, “When will I be able to enter...”
Boom!
The entrance was thrown open as Shang Xia strolled into the courtyard. He glanced at the little boy and smiled, “Oh? Little Wei Zheng, you’re here too? I heard you yelling when I was still outside. Where do you wish to enter?”
“Uncle, you’re back!” Yuanyuan leaped to her feet and yelled happily the moment she saw Shang Xia.
Wei Zheng scratched the back of his head with slight embarrassment before greeting Shang XIa. “I greet Teacher Shang... I was thinking of asking Sister Yuanyuan if I have the qualifications to join the Outer Division of the Tongyou Institution. Oh yeah, did you see my mother when leaving the institution?”
Shang Xia nodded while chuckling, “Yup, we ran into each other and came back together. She should already be home by now.”
“Oh no! If she knows that I ran out to play again, she’s going to nag at me!” Wei Zheng’s expression changed and he quickly bid his farewell to Shang Xia and Hai Yuanyuan before shouting a goodbye in the direction of the kitchen. Once he was done, he rushed out from the courtyard, all flustered.
“Haha! This little brat. I heard Teacher Wei mention that he’s extremely playful.” Shang Xia muttered before turning in the direction of the kitchen. He went to sit at the table beside where Hai Yuanyuan was.
With a wide smile on her face, Hai Yuanyuan giggled, “Uncle, Little Zheng seems really close to you somehow. He also seems really afraid of you...”
Grunting casually, Shang Xia didn’t really process what she said and he didn’t take it seriously either. His gaze landed on the manual she was holding earlier.
“Is this a book introducing the situation Across the Ocean?” Shang Xia asked.
“Hmm.” Hai Yuanyuan mumbled before handing the manual over. “There are rumors in the institution that the Inner and Upper Division’s training ground will be shifted to the land Across the Ocean That is why I borrowed a book from the Scripture Depository to learn more about things there.”
Shang XIa flipped through the pages before handing it back to her. He muttered, “Learning about the situation there isn’t all you need to do. You need to read a little more about the Changbai Holy Land of the Liao Continent and the Triple Frost Palace of the Ji Continent from the Azure Spiritual World.”
Hai Yuanyuan knew that Shang Xia wouldn’t bring them up for nothing and nodded her head seriously.
After interacting with Hai Yuanyuan for so long, he knew her personality well. She was someone who had her own views and once she set her mind on something, she would probably do it well. As such, he wouldn’t need to remind her a second time. He changed the topic and continued, “How is your progress on your sword art at the moment?”
“Everything is going pretty smoothly. After learning from you, it became really easy to fuse the extremities of length and speed through my Yin Yang Origin in my dantian. Should I start trying to comprehend my martial intent for the Yin Yang Realm next?”
It wasn’t often that Hai Yuanyuan would reveal a look of anticipation, but that was exactly what Shang Xia was seeing at the moment. He chuckled in response, “Of course. You can try it anytime!”
