Chapter 42 - Greed (4)
Chapter 42 - Greed (4)
Drawing a wide arc, Jeff swung his spear at that minotaur's head.
BAM!
The minotaur blocked the attack. But it's knocked out of balance as well.
Yet, twisting its body into a weird angle, this monster managed to jab its horns at Jeff in retaliation.
Still in air, Jeff couldn't dodge this one.
Clung!
Focusing his gaze, holding his spears in front of him, Jeff narrowly blocked this attack.
Jeff was knocked down to the ground.
Jumping sideways, Jeff adjusted his orientation in air. Reaching a tree, Jeff squatted onto the tree trunk.
Shooting himself out, the tree behind him exploded into wooden pieces.
Like a ray of light, Jeff shot towards that minotaur from the side.
Stab!
Jeff's spear sank into that minotaur's armor like a knife cutting into pudding.
BAM!
The tip of Jeff's spear exploded!
Before the minotaur could regain its posture, it's knocked out of balance again!
That blast left a pit in its armor and its chest. Mist was gushing out that wound now.
That blast wave knocked Jeff back as well. Quickly regaining balance, Jeff slid on the ground. Squatting down, Jeff shot towards that minotaur again. Behind him, the mud and grass exploded into the air.
Stab!
The minotaur tried to grab Jeff's spear.
'Not happening!' Jeff turned the stab into flick.
BAM!
Jeff landed a strike onto the monster's ribs. That minotaur was sent into the air. Flying across the grass field, that monster crashed into the trees.
However, the moment Jeff landed that strike, he received a punch to his head too.
Like a cannonball, Jeff was shot into the ground.
"Ok. I felt something." Jeff got up. His forehead turned into a digital-red. That patch of red quickly shrunk though.
Squatting down a little, Jeff dashed towards that flying minotaur. 'If we exchange blows like this, I will definitely win in the end!'
Well. That's the simple truth.
Jeff was the one with higher attributes and better equipment. Just as the results showed, he dealt more damage.
Jeff had higher defenses. A punch to the face? Jeff could shrug it off.
Higher speed. Jeff had the initiative here. That towering minotaur could only stand there and try to respond to Jeff. If that minotaur initiated the attack, Jeff could easily dodge its strike, and return a more devastating blow.
Clearly, the mist lord knew this as well.
Since it's working out, Jeff didn't feel a need to change his strategy.
Dashing on the ground, Jeff quickly approached that minotaur.
Adjusting his angle, Jeff dashed in again.
Slam!
That minotaur was thrown back. Leaving a trail of light in the air, Jeff quickly followed.
Like a giant boulder rolling forward, the two crashed through the trees.
Moving at supernatural speeds, the two exchanged 5 or 6 blows in a second.
Knocking over a street lamp, stepping onto the asphalt streets, the two had cut through that small park!
This epicenter of destruction continued to move forward!
Crashing through blocks of houses and apartments, the two left a trail of debris. Like an unstoppable plow truck, the two rampaged through the city.
In a quick 2 minutes, the two had covered 18 miles. They had blasted through the residential areas!
Now, they've reached the river side!
Looking through the hole in the factory walls, Jeff locked his gaze with that minotaur inside.
Blow after blow, that minotaur's armor had crumbled into a grey mist. Dents and wounds covered its brazen body.
Head. Neck. Chest. Legs. There wasn't a part that's uninjured.
It's a wonder how this thing was still alive.
Grey mist steamed out the wounds. It's as if the minotaur was standing in a cloud of mist.
Yet, this thing seemed like it had infinite stamina.
At the same time, Jeff was still glowing and well. However, something was not right.
Jeff panted a little. He felt hungry and tired. With each blow landed, his hands and forearms felt more and more numb. His attacks were just as fast. But there's less and less damage dealt. It's as if he's getting weaker.
"Ooohhmmm... Human..." The minotaur got back up from the pile of debris under him. "Have you heard of the work-hardening process on metals before?"
"No." Jeff squinted.
Nevertheless, Jeff knew what this minotaur was talking about. It's not that his attacks were getting weaker.
It's the minotaur's body getting harder and tougher!
By the looks of it, this minotaur had an ability that stacked with each hit received.
"But how long will you last?" Jeff took a deep breath. It's time to grit his teeth and pull this through.
Like a ray of light, Jeff shot towards that minotaur.
Bam!
That minotaur crashed through the factory walls. Like a pebble, it skipped on the river surface.
Like a ray of light, Jeff shot through that hole on the wall as well.
Moving at this speed, the water felt like solid land.
That minotaur got a hold of itself. Stomping onto the water, it charged towards Jeff.
Slam!
That minotaur flew across the river. Bring up an explosion of snow, grass, and sand, it crashed into the river banks.
Stomping against the water surface, Jeff shot through the river as well.
While in air, Jeff opened up his free hand. A plastic tube popped into existence. It's a high-energy nutrition paste, packaged like a yogurt tube.
Yep. On top of stacking abilities, Jeff also liked to stack supplies.
Jeff quickly ripped it open and took a quick sip.
*Gulp* *Gulp* *Gulp*
Yum yum. A blueberry flavour.
Jeff certainly wouldn't want to touch anything pink, or strawberry-flavored, or pink AND strawberry-flavoured food again.
The snow on the river bank settled. That minotaur was lying on the ground now. It's warhammer laid on the sand some distance away.
Taking a deep breath, Jeff walked towards that towering monster.
Looks like the results were settled.
Nobody liked to stay in that standstill world unless they had to.
Jeff felt that his entire body was throbbing and weak. The soreness and muscle ache was starting to settle in now.
Nevertheless, Jeff had won this battle of raw strength and stamina.
Readying his spear, Jeff was ready to deal the finishing blow.
"My lord!"
"We are here!"
An arc of flames shot towards Jeff.
Jeff ignored that attack. He knew his priorities.
