Chapter 53: Practise and new Accquitance
Chapter 53: Practise and new Accquitance
Hyperscape, three hours later, Obscurus
The cumulative upgrades done to the Obscurus from the moment Arcturus got enough funds to fund them all already crossed over 400,000 of the Universal Credits, and he had to admit that Red Queen did a lot of work on them.
One thing that was especially bringing him joy was the changes to his personal chambers that were on the top of the starship because the entire place was right now far more comfortable than it was before.
They would soon arrive back at the Rylon Star System to the Starfort Lycurgos. They were going fast enough to relay the information personally to the General in charge of the Alaric Star Domain.
It was highly possible that with this information at hand, the Alaric Star Domain would get more information from the Headquarters when they had proof that the Illithids were planning to attack the Imperial Space.
Aside from the Mind Flayers' spaceship, they also managed to procure several corpses of the eldritch squids, which was another bonus. From their brains, Arcturus managed to obtain their Psion Nuclei, which was basically heavily contested Psionic Energy in crystalline form.
This was rather useful to him in terms of cultivation because he could use these Nuclei to enhance his own base with them.
From what he learned during the online courses he was taking from the Imperial Universe of the Asurya, the use of the Nuclei was recommended only after someone had rather good control over their Psionic Energy Cultivation Method.
Otherwise, one would be not only totally wasting up a good piece of resource but also risking some damage to himself. Using the Illithid's Psion Nuclei as a cultivation resource was a good thing that many would never encounter in their whole lives, but at the same time, it was also a bit dangerous.
Their Psion Nuclei contained their particular energy mark, that one needed to completely purify during the assimilation process or one would risk getting corroded by it.
Fortunately enough for him, his Nuclear Chaos Formula was more than capable of dispersing the side effects from the Illithid's Psion Nuclei.
'Master, I already found buyers for the corpses of the squids. The buyer is willing to pay us approximately 100,000 Universal Credits for all corpses of the Mind Flayers. Unfortunately, the corpses are of grade, and they are heavily damaged, but there are nine of them that were in a state of being to be sold on the market.'
Anotzher 100,000 Universal Credits was certainly welcomed surprise, because money were needed above everything else. His master already told him, that for his cultivation in the near future.
Having extremely powerful and potent Psyker Ability wasn't always a win-win situation.
There were records of countless people who awakened rather powerful and rare Psyker Abilities or people who, while not Psykers, awakened very powerful and potent Psionic Energy but failed to grow due to the lack of resources, and some thus died prematurely.
Such occasions were not really that rare, as would many things.
So, right now, Arcturus has formulated a several-step plan on how to make money. The first thing would be to build a Battle Droid Army, a proper one that would allow him to undertake large-scale mercenary tasks.
Then, he needed to find some reliable and loyal employees so he could cover up the great weakness of being the lone sentient. Preferably he wanted to find some Psionics, if not, then at least talented Warriors that would then complement well with the Battle Droids.
However, now, with the map charts that they have obtained from the Nautiloid and locations of treasure troves like the Planet Aquamarine, the plans were once again adjusted a bit.
He knew that if he wanted to get the maximum from the Planet Aquamarine and other planets. From what he knew about the Planet, he knew that he wouldn't be able to take the planet alone, even with the large Battle Droids army.
The fact that the Mind Flayers decided to stay away from the Planet Aquamarine was more than enough proof of how dangerous the planet was. Arcturus had one big disadvantage when it came to this, and that was the fact that he lacked high-end combatants that could take care of High-Grade Psykers, Psionics, and Warriors.
The Battle Droids were good, but one powerful Psyker and Psionics could turn all of them into a huge bundle of scrap metal with a wave of their hand. Powerful Psionics and Psykers were entirely different leagues altogether.
"I am going to absorb some of the Psion Nuclei."
Arcturus had nine Psion Nuclei from the killed Mind Flayers on the spaceship that he captured; though it won't be enough to propel him into the next Grade, he knew that it would be enough to strengthen his Psyker Grade by a great degree.
The density and potency of the Psionic Energy were on an entirely different level compared to that of ordinary Psionics. Fortunately enough, it was comparable to his own Psionic Energy and thus highly compatible, so it was the perfect material for his own cultivation.
He then went to the cultivation chamber, which had been upgraded a bit, mostly to some other fortifications that should be able to withstand the bursts of Psionic Energy.
Nuclear Chaos Formula was most suitable for this, as he started circulating his own Psionic Energy within his body, creating a small whirlpool of Psionic Energy in his core. Then he navigated the Dimension Empyrean's Empyrean Power as he started drawing out the energies from the Mind Flayer's Psion Nuclei.
With each passing second, he felt that his Psionic Energy pool was getting larger and larger, while at the same time, he was using the Nuclear Chaos Formula to purify the Psionic Energy from the Mind Flayer's Psion Nuclei.
After just ten minutes, the Mind Flayer Psion Nuclei, which was shining and brimming with the Psionic Energy, now withered and became just an ordinary crystalline rock. When the last wave of the Psionic Energy left the Mind Flayer Psion Nuclei entered Arcturus's body, the Psion Nuclei just crumbled apart.
"The effects are good, but I am still very far from reaching the Delta-Grade Psyker. I would need a lot more of them to reach the Delta-Grade; the requirements of the Super-High Risk Primal Psyker Ability is something that normal people really couldn't afford."
Normally, the people with the Super-High Risk Primal Psyker Ability needed several tens of times more resources to cultivate. In the first place there were not many people within the Eternal Empire of the Asurya that awakened the Super-High Risk Primal Psyker Ability.
In fact, there were only a handful of them, and all of them either belonged to the Military or were members of the most prominent Bloodline Lineage Families of the Empire, so they didn't really need to worry about the resources.
He needed to make money with his own head or use the possibilities of the Imperium and became the Imperial Military's private military contractor. He was sure that if he built something good with his hands, he could annoy his master until he helped him make it real.
Unbeknown to him, he had already made a good impression on the Bashar-General Varathar Medes, and having connections like this with the Imperial Military would be crucial for his future growth.
The Imperial Military didn't have many Private Military Contractors as it didn't really trust mercenaries and other types of people. Mercenaries, adventurers, and private companies were obviously untrustworthy right from the start.
Right now, the small number of the Private Military Contractors that were cooperating with the Imperial Military were all created and run by either veterans from the Imperial Military or the Bloodline Lineage Families.

The moment Arcturus returned back to the Rylon Star System and his spaceship docked back to the Lycurgos Starfort; he was welcomed by several officers from the Imperial Military.
"Sir Crawford, Bashar-General Varathar Medes is awaiting you right now; please follow me."
The woman who was adjutant of the Bashar-General Varathar Medes immediately stated, leaving no room for any discussion. Arcturus nodded at this and followed the adjutant of the Bashar-General Varathar Medes.
"Then lead the way, miss?"
He said as the woman nodded. She was tall, around one meter and seventy centimeters tall, with short black hair and bright blue eyes. He had to admit that she was rather attractive, but her expression was colder than ice.
"Irene Verinus Tarun, rank Bator-Commandant, currently adjutant to the Bashar-General Varathar Medes."
She introduced herself as she adjusted her uniform a bit and led Arcturus directly to the core area of the Starfort Lycurgos to the Bashar-General Varathar Medes. She was rather young to hold the rank of Bator-Commandant, which was relatively high in the Imperial machinery of the Eternal Empire of the Asurya.
Arcturus noticed that she wasn't a member of the Highborne; if yes, then she wouldn't be put into the position of the commanding officer. The Highborne, with their powerful Psionic capabilities, were typically drafted into special units and were given rather unique positions within the Military.
They were rarely in the position of "ordinary" officers in the Imperial Military.
