Chapter 69 Ditcher

Mollie smiled and tucked her hair behind her ears. “To be honest, I haven’t been a judge for a long time. And I won’t stay in the country for long.”

“Some of your theories have always been the beacon for students in our university’s Department of Psychology. I know that you have been invited to international competitions before, and you declined them all. However, I still want you to take a look at these,” Ainsley said earnestly.

She took out a stack of documents from her bag and handed them to Mollie. “These papers are written by some students based on your theories. Some of them have proposed new ideas, and I sincerely hope you can have a look.”

Mollie took the documents in surprise and flipped through them. “Thank you. I will read them carefully.”

Ainsley breathed a sigh of relief. She couldn’t be a hundred percent sure to persuade Mollie to agree to her request, but at least she could help those students to hand over the papers they wrote to

Mollie.

Just as Ainsley was about to leave, Mollie suddenly called out to her, “Ms. Easton, I wonder what you think about what happened tonight.”

“You mean over there?” Ainsley pointed at the stage in confusion.

“Where else? Ms. Easton, what I want to say is that you did a great job. I might have been more ruthless.” Mollie pointed to the console.

Ainsley instantly realized that Mollie knew all the things Kaitlin and she did. “I was merely protecting myself.

and left.

Mollie drank up her champagne, placed the empty glass on the table, and then got up

Ainsley and Manuel looked at each other and chuckled. She asked, “You knew as well?”

She was referring to the USB flash drive.

He said disapprovingly, “Aisy, I have been paying attention to you all the time. You did well.”

“Mr. Gage, are you laughing at me? Both Ms. Randall and you saw me. I was so clumsy.” Ainsley. curled her lips. She thought no one would find out.

Under the limelight, Manuel’s eyes flickered. Yet he sounded upset and hurt as he said, “Aisy, why

didn’t you ask me for help? If so, I’m sure no one would find out.”

Ainsley’s heart skipped a beat. She thought, Manuel’s eyes are flickering as he stands beside me, and there are tears in his eyes. He lowers his eyes, and his lashes are trembling. He looks like a pitiful, abandoned dog.

Wait! Shouldn’t he be a cruel wolf? Am I insane? Why would I think of him as a pitiful, abandoned dog? He is the legendary Mr. Gage in Seattle!

“Mr. Gage, I wouldn’t trouble you with such a trivial matter.” She shrugged, while Manuel looked more and more enchanting.

“Aisy, anything about you is important to me.” His dark eyes flashed with a charming luster.

Ainsley blushed and immediately turned her head. “Mr. Gage, you should behave yourself. Watch out for your reputation.” Then she ran away in the next second, not daring to look at Manuel

anymore.

On the way back, due to Serina’s strong will, Ainsley finally gave in and agreed to let Manuel send her back as well.

Serina kept talking in the car, and she was so excited that she even forgot to continue acting and let Ainsley sit in the front row. “Ainsley, you have no idea. It was so funny. Kaitlin didn’t know what to say at all. Those reporters have already taken photos and videos. Did she think others were idiots?”

“Even though those reporters have photos and videos, tomorrow’s news will not be Kaitlin’s scandal at all. It’ll just be she being harassed and the attempt to harass her fails,” Ainsley said

indifferently.

“Why? They have those photos and videos!” Serina said angrily.

Ainsley explained softly, “It won’t make a difference, because they can’t afford to mess with the Baldry family. If they do what the Baldry family asks them to do, they will get paid a lot. Doing otherwise might get fired. What do you think they will do?”

Ainsley was well aware of this back then when the reporters asked the questions. Therefore, she stopped paying attention after Kaitlin changed the topic. Ainsley knew that everyone would only learn what Kaitlin wanted them to know tomorrow.

“What?” Serina wrapped her arms around Ainsley’s arm gloomily. “I wouldn’t have stayed there if I’d known. Ainsley, I should have gone with you to invite Ms. Randall. By the way, did Ms. Randall agree?”

“She kind of turned me down. After all, her time was very precious. Anyway, I showed her the papers that the students wrote related to her theorles.” Ainsley figured that it was something.

fortunate after all.

“You’re not upset, right, Ainsley? What about the school leaders?” Serina looked at Ainsley

worriedly.

“It’s fine. I’ve tried. I asked her. That’s enough.” Ainsley patted her head.

For Ainsley, being rejected was never a bad thing. Besides, she could still manage to hold the

contest well without Mollie.

“It’s fine! Ainsley, you have me!”

When Ainsley went back to the apartment building, she saw Lainey,

Lainey recognized Manuel’s car at a glance. With all sorts of bags in her hands, she blocked Ainsley, who was getting out of the car. “Good for you, Ainsley! Ditcher!”

Lainey said in a loud voice, not caring about the fact that she might embarrass Ainsley at all. Most importantly, Manuel followed Ainsley out of the car, so he heard each word Lainey said loud and clear. He even calmly greeted Lainey.

“Hello.”

“Hello, Mr. Gage!” Lainey smiled. Then she immediately turned to threaten Ainsley, “Come clean with me now! Where have you two been fooling around? I called you so many times, and you never picked up!”

Ainsley was stunned. Lainey called her?

Ainsley fumbled over the dress she was wearing. She didn’t have the phone on her, and it wasn’t in

the car either.

“I think I left my phone at the office.” She knew that she didn’t take it with her when she went to the

banquet.

“Then fetch it tomorrow when you go to the office. Don’t try to change the topic! Tell me! Where did

you go?”

Serina jumped out of the car. “And me! We went to Kaitlin’s birthday party.”

Bang!

Lainey’s hands loosened, and all of the bags fell to the ground. “What?”

She looked at Ainsley in shock and reached out to stroke Ainsley’s forehead. “You are not having a fever. You went to that woman’s birthday party? For real? She has been giving you a hard time, and yet you went to celebrate her birthday? She must have been bullying you again, right? No, wait. Why

did she send you an invitation?”

She asked so many questions in a row, and Ainsley did not know which one to answer for a moment.

“It’s complicated. I’ll need more time to explain it to you. Why don’t you go inside? Don’t you have the password?”

Lainey still grabbed Ainsley, refusing to let go. “Don’t tell me you still have feelings for that jerk!”

Then she immediately glanced at Manuel. “Well, I know for sure that it’s impossible. He is a total jerk!”

“Lainey, I know everything! You know what? You missed the great show. Kaitlin was so doomed today. Everyone saw that indecent video of hers!” Serina pulled Lainey away so that Ainsley and Manuel could be left alone.

“Tell me everything!” Lainey pulled Serina upstairs.

Ainsley looked at the bags all over the ground, which were about a dozen. She wondered how Lainey managed to take all of them over here.
