Chapter 2444 Shouldn't that be my line?
The sky was cloudy today yet despite that, the first sign of summer could already be felt. Hot, humid air wrapped around my body as I traversed the street towards the Nakano household.
Despite my anticipation of seeing Mina and Yayoi-san, the weather had a way of making the walk feel longer. The humidity clung to me like a second skin, my shirt sticking to my back with each step, it's making me want to dip in the pool soon.
When I arrived at the house, I gently knocked, trying not to disturb the quiet of the neighborhood. After a brief moment, Mina swung the door open with a smile that was not a smile. She was acting like a tsundere again.
"You did say you're coming. But isn't this a little too early? Mom is still in the salon. She had clients today."
"I see. Isn't this better? I get to spend some quality time with you before Yayoi-san returns," I teased, stepping into their house, the cool air from the air conditioner providing a much-needed respite from the oppressive heat outside.
Mina's cheeks flushed a shade darker, and she rolled her eyes playfully. "Just because you're good at sweet-talking everyone else doesn't mean it'll always work on me."
She quickly turned around leading me to the living room. I chased after her, my arms wrapping from behind her waist to her chest, causing her to let out a squeak of surprise. "Who says it doesn't always work? Mina... I miss you, you know? And your tea."
"This guy... You're always drinking it. You kept finding those windows to not miss out on it," Mina said, pushing away my arms but she eventually gave up as I dragged us down to their couch.
At this, she became unable to hold back her sweet giggle, pinching my cheeks as her way to retaliate.
"I still miss it. Don't I always say it? No matter how short of a time we separated, the moment we were apart, I started craving for you again."
"I love you, okay? So, don't keep making me blush like this, idiot!" Mina exclaimed, her cheeks a delightful shade of pink as she tried to wriggle out of my embrace.
But my hold on her was firm. And seeing her act like this was just making me want to tease her more.
"I can't help it, Mina. You're just too adorable," I whispered into her ear, making her squirm even more. "If only I can divide myself for all of you, I will keep making you blush every single second of every single day."
"You and your flowery words. Psh... Just kiss me already and let me prepare tea for you. You're going to need it," Mina said with a playful pout.
I couldn't resist the temptation she offered. I leaned in and captured her lips in a passionate kiss. Her cheeks grew even redder as she melted into the embrace. We were lost in our little world, the outside noise fading into the background as we explored each other's mouths with gentle entanglement between our tongues. The sweet taste of her breath was like the nectar of a freshly picked fruit, intoxicating and invigorating. It already washed away the discomfort I felt from basking in the hot weather outside.
Mina finally pulled away, giggling and slightly out of breath, "You really are insatiable, Ruki. Stay put there. Let me get you that tea."
"Mhm... By the way Mina." I nodded and then continued when she was already in the kitchen. Since it's not that far, we could still converse like this. "Is there something you want to do today? You know, like accompanying you to the supermarket or... just going wherever."
"Too late, idiot Ruki. Besides, in this weather? I'd rather stay here with you." Her somewhat cheerful voice traveled.
Watching her from afar like this, her ponytail swaying as she moves is something that I could get used to seeing every day.
"You're right. I'm already dreading the moment I leave later. Can I just stay here for the whole day?"
"As if you can do that. I bet your whole day is already decked with girls to meet." Mina called from the kitchen, her voice filled with feigned annoyance, "Even today, you're not just here for me. But I understand, you made Mom fall for you and I consented to it. But you know, Ruki? She's missing you a lot. She's just trying to justify her lack of vocal longing because she doesn't want to bother you. Or pressure you to be more responsible. And since she's the older one between you two, she's more mature in hiding her feelings."
Mina was right, as usual. The thought of Yayoi-san missing me brought a warm smile to my face. She kept on preparing those big lunch boxes that we were sharing during lunch. And each time, I could feel the love and attention she'd packed with it. It was as if she was using the food to convey her feelings for me.
And naturally, I'm receiving the message well. That's why... I'm going to give it my all to make sure she doesn't miss me too much.
Mina returned with the tea, placing it on the table in front of me. It's one of her unique brews again, something she's been working on perfecting for weeks. The scent was a delightful blend of fruits and flowers that promised a refreshing taste. She sat next to me, and we sipped our tea in companionable silence, enjoying the coolness as it washed down our throats.
Eventually, we turned on the TV, playing an old romantic comedy that neither of us was watching. I mean, we're both conscious of each other, after all. And from time to time, I would turn to kiss her neck, making her giggle and squirm. Her hands would swat at me playfully, but she'd never truly push me away. She'd just lean in closer, her skin getting goosebumps from the soft kisses and gentle nibbles.
"Are we not going to prepare our lunch?" I asked her after downing a cup of her tea. At this point I already put her in front of me, my arms wrapped around her while my head resting on her shoulder.
"Nope. Mom said she'll do it herself. Why don't you call her?"
"Well, she might be busy besides, I can't just waste this opportunity of having you all to myself."
"Shouldn't that be my line, shameless Ruki?"
"Whatever you're talking about? I'm just eager to spend time with my favorite little bird," I said, pecking her cheek.
Although Mina pouted at the way I called her, the mood between us just turned into a more intimate one.
"Well, if you're not going to do anything productive, then come here," She whispered, turning her face toward me with a smug smirk. She was so adorable when she was like this.
I complied, leaning in to kiss her deeply once again.
“We can do something more productive, you know? Like making babies.”
“You shameless pervert," Mina blushed profusely but despite raising her voice, the girl leaned into my embrace even tighter. "B-bring me to my room then. It's been a while since my bedsheet had your scent."
"What will we do if Yayoi-san arrives while we're in the middle of it?"
"Knowing you... you'll invite her in, right?"
Mina rolled her eyes as I put her in a princess carry and went into the curtained area of their house and turned to the direction of her room.
