?Xie He?Frankly speaking, I actually quite like His Eminence the Holy Son. I like his appearance. It would be nice to have a go with him. Smile.JPG?
?444?Then...are you going to sleep with him? (?o?)?
?Xie He?Baby, can you sense Saj’s whereabouts??
?444?No...._(:???)_?
?Xie He?Then I won’t be able to sleep with him. Why? Because I can sense that Saj is already here.?
Xie He looked at Joshua in disbelief, as if he didn’t understand why the always gentle and harmless Holy Son would suddenly do such a thing! Even if he was being coerced into this by the sinister Valley of Death, it was still intolerable!
Joshua gazed deeply into Xie He’s eyes. At such a close distance, he was able to see those emerald eyes very clearly. They were so pure and limpid...so beautiful he couldn’t look away.... This was God’s greatest creation. It was completely different compared to those ugly, filthy humans.....
For the first time, a desire to possess something arose within him.
Joshua fastened a hand to the back of Xie He’s head. His other hand snuck down Xie He’s collar. He could finally touch this elf.... The beautiful sensation brought upon by that smooth, exquisite skin was even more indescribable than he had thought.
He could no longer control his urges.... He bent his head down and kissed him deeply once more!
Xie He couldn’t help but think back to those humiliating experiences when he felt Joshua’s hand on his body. His eyes were already completely full of anger! Suddenly, a frenetic, turbulent wind billowed up around them, blowing the sand from the ground up into the air!
Xie He then bit down heavily!
Joshua’s tongue was in pain. He looked at Xie He’s furious eyes...and his eyes glazed over.
At that moment, he calmed down. He knew that he had lost control just now. Right now was not the time to expose himself....
Xie He threw off Joshua’s hold. The frenzied wind raged over towards the latter.
Joshua did not fight back. He was slammed against the stone wall by the wind. He coughed out a mouthful of blood. He pressed a hand to his chest and looked up in time to see Xie He point an arrow at him. Those eyes were freezing.
At the same time, a shadow that was about to envelop them noiselessly retreated.
Joshua narrowed his eyes. Just now, if Xie He didn’t wake him up, Saj would have definitely acted, as he would not permit anyone to touch what belonged to him. It was just that he didn’t want to reveal their relationship....
However, the temperamental evil god was likely displeased with Joshua’s actions.
Joshua’s expression went back to normal. He spoke quietly, eyes full of guilt, “I apologize. I lost control of myself just now. I’m extremely sorry for having offended you.”
Xie He pursed his lips tightly into a straight line. He used a cold and sharp gaze to appraise the other. The fingers gripping his arrow and bow turned white from how tight he was holding them.
There was a glimmer in Joshua’s blue eyes. His soft blond hair fell over his forehead and a faint, helpless smile appeared on his lips. He said sadly, “If you are only able to quell the anger in your heart by killing me then...do it.”
After saying this, he shut his eyes, as if he was prepared to be executed.
Xie He was indeed furious but when he saw Joshua close his eyes and await death with no resistance, he couldn’t do it. This was the Church’s Holy Son who had risked his life for the sake of the Continent’s peace. He was an honourable character with integrity. He wasn’t like those fiendish criminals who were wicked without redemption. The other also didn’t have any intention of evading the blame. Instead, he was willing to pay with his life.
He couldn’t help but respect him.
This was a friend of the Elves—their companion. Xie He...didn’t actually suffer any losses. What difference would there be between himself and those cruel killers if he killed him?
The anger in Xie He’s eyes gradually dissipated. Aloofness once again filled his eyes. He walked over to Joshua, smacked the back of the other’s head with his bow, and knocked the other out!
He then carried Joshua and quickly headed out!
?444?Oh oh oh! Host dada, why did you stop him? Even if you didn’t stop him, Saj would have. I noticed that he had come! _(:???)_?
?Xie He?Baby, even though you’re a level six system, you can only ‘see’ him, but you can’t ‘perceive’ him. Don’t you feel ashamed? Smile.JPG?
?444?......?
?Xie He?Forget it. It’s not like I didn’t already know what you were like. Sigh.JPG?
?444?QAQ?
?Xie He?You should know, although the end result is the same, the process is entirely different. If I had let Saj put a stop to things, their schemes would have been exposed. Our Eminence the Holy Son would not be able to continue his act.... I’m a very considerate person, so I obviously wouldn’t let their plans be ruined. That’d be too boring. ? ?
Although Xie He and Joshua had wasted some time, Xie He’s movements were very quick. They were still the first to come out.
He placed Joshua on the ground and then jumped up to a tree branch, settling there as he waited for the others to come out.
After some time, the other elves and knights came out one after another. When Xie He saw Thamior, a corner of his lips rose. Thamior was his experience points. If he couldn’t come out, Xie He would go save him.
They waited outside for the entire night so that they could be certain that no one else would come out. Everyone’s spirits were very low at this time. Their party originally had more than thirty members. Now, less than ten remain. They had lost trusted companions on this trek.
Regardless of whether it was the Humans or the Elves, both sides felt a similar grief.
After some time, Joshua woke up. He was silent for a while before he slowly walked over to Xie He. In a quiet voice, he said, “Thank you for your magnanimity.”
Xie He gave him an insipid glance. He then lowered his head and continued wiping his bow clean. Although he would not bicker with Joshua over this, he still held a grudge in his heart. He was even more cold than he had been in the beginning.
Joshua stared at Xie He’s side profile. When he thought of how he had pressed that handsome elf beneath him and had tasted the sweetness of those lips...ripples once again tore through his heart. This time...there was nothing influencing him. He was clear-headed and had his cool.... He knew that he now had desires.
Even he had times where he would lose control of himself. Even he would have times where he would yearn to obtain something. But then Joshua thought back to how...Xie He had retained his calm and reasoning the entire time in the Valley of Death. The other had not been influenced in the least.
This elf...did he have no darkness or desires?
Could such a perfect existence really exist in this world?
Joshua gave Xie He a profound look. He then covered up the darkness in his eyes and withdrew.
&#k3010;Ding, Joshua’s Favourability Value +5. The current Favourability Value is 75.&#k3011;
Everyone rested for the night before continuing on the next day.
Past the Valley of Death was the Dead Sea Forest. The name was very frightening, but it was actually a very beautiful place. The endless green as far as the eye could see made it look like an ocean. Everywhere, they could see gorgeous flowers and little animals skittering past them&#k2026;. It didn’t seem like a place that hid a sinister being at all.
They did not encounter any more dangers. In the end, they reached a tall mountain.
Joshua looked up and said softly, “This is where the seal is.”
Xie He furrowed his brows. “It was said that the seal should already be broken and that sinister dark energy should already be seeping out. It seems that everything is normal though.”
He muttered to himself silently, as if he couldn’t make sense of things no matter how hard he thought.
Joshua said, “We will know once we see it for ourselves.”
Xie He nodded.
They entered the mountain. As soon as they entered, they could sense that something was wrong. It was like they had arrived in another world.
They could not see the blue sky or the green trees. Everything had turned ash grey.
The road from whence they came had disappeared.
Xie He’s expression turned grave. He knew that this last stretch would be the most dangerous. He stood next to Joshua, holding up his bow as he surveyed the area vigilantly. With a low voice, he said, “Let’s go.”
The party placed Xie He and Joshua in the center as they carefully moved forward.
Joshua did not hold back anymore. He used light magic to illuminate the way, expelling the haze on their path.
Everything around them was completely still. There were no voices, causing everyone’s hair to stand on edge.... It was at this moment that a mouth suddenly ripped open from one of the trees! It bit down on a knight, engulfing his top half. Crunching noises could be heard, along with that knight’s sudden, blood-curdling screams. Then, he stopped moving. The remaining lower half of the corpse fell to the ground and blood seeped into the earth.
The faces of all the others were pale. They stared at the tree with a ferocious mouth. That mouth spat out wads of flesh and drops of blood....They couldn’t help but take several steps back.
Joshua looked at the dead knight, eyes full of pity. He drew a cross before himself and then said with a cool voice, “Don’t panic. It is but a plant that has transformed upon being stained with Darkness. Avoid it carefully. This is the place where the seal resides. That demon has been repressed but he can still act against us. We just need to reach the seal and patch it up.”
Xie He pricked his ears and scanned their surroundings vigilantly. He suddenly grabbed the elf next to him and leapt backwards, dodging a poisonous snake slithering on the ground!
“Go quickly!” He shouted while quickly inspecting the area for danger.
....................................
There were dangers all around the still, ash grey forest. Although they were already being very careful, companion after companion fell into the forest’s traps. Several of them had already died. Everyone had suffered some degree of injury by the time they reached the stone table at the peak of the mountain.
At this moment, all the party members looked extremely miserable.
Joshua only had two knights left. On Xie He’s side, there was only Thamior and three other elves.
Atop of the stone table, there was an immense six-pointed star drawn, glittering in the darkness. One corner of the drawing had been broken. There seemed to be a black hole in that broken corner. They could see endless black miasma seeping through!
Joshua sighed when he saw the broken seal, “Indeed, too much time has passed. The seal has been damaged. If we didn’t notice this, that fiend would one day reappear in the mortal realm.”
Xie He’s eyes were on the seal in front. “Yes.”
His gaze was ice-cold. Today, no matter what, they had to seal the demon back in. That way, he would no longer be able to bother Xie He!
Joshua took a step forward. Both hands wrapped around the gemstone pendant hanging over his chest. A pious expression emerged on his face and his voice was clear and sonorous. “I will try to reseal this place.”
Xie He was about to act. However, seeing Joshua take the lead, he kept back for the time being.
Joshua shut his eyes and an intense white light appeared before them. The light headed towards the black drawing of the six-pointed star. At this moment, black fog suddenly rushed out from the damaged corner, hurtling against the white light in front of Joshua!
They were in a deadlock for a while. Joshua was then pushed back, a trail of blood dripping down the corner of his lips. His complexion was deathly pale.
Xie He’s expression turned unsightly. In order to fix the seal, they had to first subdue the violent dark energy. If they could not do so, they would have no time to fix the seal.
He supported Joshua up from the ground and then slowly said, “Let’s do it together.”
Joshua nodded, “That’s the only way.... This time, I will have to use all my magic, as well as the holy weapon of the God of Light.”
Xie He kept silent. He also planned on using his holy weapon. This was the only way they could win.
The two of them once again stood before the seal. Xie He took off his ring and chanted a spell. The ring slowly floated up, hovering before him.
Joshua’s hands were both tightly clenched, his eyebrows furrowed together. The two of them stood together as a white light and green light intertwined. They did their best to resist the black fog seeping out of the broken corner. Although the black fog was strong, because there was only a small hole in the seal, not much of it could come out at once. Its power began to waver. In the end, it was gradually suppressed....
Sweat covered Xie He’s forehead. His gaze was fixed on what laid before him. He saw that just as the black fog was about to be suppressed, the ring in front of him suddenly began to stir, becoming unstable! It swerved left and right, as if it was about to escape his control!
What was happening? Why was it like this? Before he could find the answer, he suddenly felt something cold in his abdomen...a sword had pierced through his abdomen from behind.
He slowly turned his head around in disbelief. He saw that Joshua held a dagger in his hand and had stabbed him without any hesitation. There was still a shallow, gentle smile on that handsome face as he said to Xie He, “Sorry.”
At this moment, the knights on Joshua’s side suddenly attacked the elves! Because they never expected that their teammates who they had braved death with would suddenly attack them, one of the elves was knocked down the cliff. Thamior was stabbed in the shoulder! The two sides began to fight but Thamior was very quickly pushed back!
Xie He saw that Thamior was about to die. He didn’t pay any attention to the blade stabbed into his abdomen and pushed Joshua away. He then went to shield Thamior! With one swing of his blade, Xie He killed that knight!
The other knight was about to attack Xie He when Joshua suddenly stopped him.
He smiled at Xie He. “You are His Excellency Saj’s beloved person. I won’t harm you.”
Xie He slowly pulled the blade out of his body. The confusion dissipated from his eyes. All that was left was anger and hostility. He glared at Joshua with hatred. “You betrayed us!”
Joshua had a faint smile on his lips. “Humankind has long since forgotten the fear brought by Darkness. They are wanton in action and have lost their faith. I originally came here to release Darkness. Without darkness, how could humankind understand the value of Light?”
Xie He glared at him furiously, “Preposterous! You’ve been corroded by Darkness, nothing more!”
Joshua shook his head slowly, the corner of his lips raised. “My faith has never been shaken.”
His expression was resolute and there was a merciful light in his eyes.
Even though he was doing the cruellest thing possible, he believed that everything that he was doing was for the sake of making human kind more pious and faithful to the light. He had never thought that what he was doing was wrong.
Xie He raised his bow and was about to kill Joshua! However, he was a step too late.
Because Joshua had broken the seal! That seal was very difficult to break from the inside, but if one used light magic to destroy it from outside, it would not be able to withstand even one hit!
At this moment, it was as if darkness completely enveloped everything around them. The black fog was like a tornado, bursting out from beneath the earth and causing them all to stumble from side to side.
Despair coloured Xie He’s eyes. It was too late.
He looked at the injured Thamior. Right now, the two of them could not remedy the situation. Darkness was destined to return to the Continent. He had to rush back and tell the others to escape. Because very soon, Nolan Forest would be enveloped by Darkness!
Joshua saw that Xie He was about to take Thamior and leave but he turned his head around as if nothing was happening. His eyes were fixed on the black fog before him.
The black fog seemed to be condensing. It suddenly changed directions and a thick cloud rushed towards Joshua! Joshua stumbled a few steps back upon impact. The pendant on his chest emitted an intense light. The pure light energy seemed to corrode a portion of the black fog. Its might was unlike what it had been before. It was obvious that this was his true power!
Joshua looked up and smiled, “Your Excellency Saj, you want to kill me? This wasn’t what we agreed to.”
From within the black fog came a low chuckle. “Oh, you actually believed me?”
Joshua slowly shook his head. He took off the pendant. The tear-shaped pendant was wrapped around a layer of broken crystals, revealing a sort of watery thing floating inside. Joshua said, “This is one of God’s Tears. It is the holy weapon the mighty God of Light left behind. It has enough power to level an entire forest. You’ve been asleep for many tens of thousands of years and have just escaped from the seal. You are at your weakest...perhaps we can perish together.”
The black fog billowed but did not approach Joshua. After a while, Saj’s laugh echoed. “You are truly a cunning human.”
Joshua chuckled, “It was just a precaution.”
No voice continued to sound from the black fog. A long while later, it slowly dispersed, heading further away.
Joshua knew that Saj had already left. He had actually sustained a very serious injury just now. He was just barely holding on. He coughed softly and grabbed onto the arm of his last knight. “Let us return.”
That knight supported Joshua out respectfully. The knight thought that everything had ended and was completely off guard. But suddenly, he was pierced through the chest by a magic blade made by Joshua!
He looked at Joshua in shock, gurgling sounds escaping through his lips. “W-why....”
Joshua looked at him with pity. “The less people who know of a secret, the better. If I let the people know that I was the one to release the Darkness, who would continue to believe in the light?”
The knight was still unresigned, “The Elf King also knows....”
Joshua smiled. “Don’t worry, no one will believe him.”
....................................
Xie He and Thamior escaped. Xie He tore off a piece of cloth and tightly wrapped it around his own waist, decreasing the amount of blood flow. In a low voice, he said, “We must return quickly. Soon, Nolan Forest will be unsafe.”
Thamior said furiously, “Those shameless, despicable humans. We protected them with so much difficulty and then they actually wanted to kill us and release the God of Darkness! Indeed, humankind should not be trusted!”
Xie He recalled the perilous journey they had experienced as well as the lost lives of his compatriots. A flicker of sadness flitted through as he said, “Saying this now is useless.”
Because they were both injured, they were not able to travel very quickly, Xie He especially. He was injured more severely. They ran and ran, but Xie He suddenly fell to the ground. He didn’t get back to his feet even after a long time.
Thamior carried Xie He in his arms, heart aching. He helped the other sit against a tree and said, “Rest here for a while. If you continue on like this, your body won’t be able to bear it.”
If they continued on like this, Xie He might die halfway before they returned.
Xie He’s brows were tightly furrowed. There was pain on his handsome face. However, compared to his own injuries, he was more concerned about his clansmen. They didn’t know what perils were about to descend.... He tightly clutched Thamior’s hand and was about to speak when his expression suddenly changed.
It was because that familiar darkness was about to arrive. But this time, the dark energy was infinitely stronger than before!
Countless vines and branches stretched out, coiling around Xie He’s waist, trapping him against the tree trunk! Xie He didn’t care about his own situation. He shouted at Thamior, “Run!”
Thamior had yet to react. He paused and then began to hack at the vines, but it was of no use!
Xie He’s eyes were fixed on Thamior, voice hoarse, “This is an order! Run!”
Thamior stared at Xie He, in a daze. This was the first time Xie He had used such a strict tone when speaking to him. He could see the conviction in Xie He’s eyes and Thamior’s own began to turn red. He wasn’t stupid. He knew Xie He wished for him to escape, to alert their clansmen about what had happened.... Xie He didn’t care about his own life.
How could he disappoint him?
Thamior’s lips trembled. He clenched his fists tight and then turned to escape!
I will definitely escape! I definitely will...be rest assured...no matter what, I will return!
?Ding, Thamior’s Favourability Value +5. The current Favourability Value is 95.?
Xie He stared at Thamior’s distant figure. He felt branches drill into his clothes. His expression turned into pain but he bit down on his lips, not making a sound.
Saj walked out from the darkness, stepping in front of Xie He. He gently tipped Xie He’s chin up and said with a smile, “You think that he can escape?”
Despair dripped out of Xie He’s eyes. How could he not know that Thamior’s chances of escaping was miniscule? But he had no other choice. He was not willing to give up on any sliver of hope.
Saj kissed Xie He’s pale lips tenderly and said, “But if it will make you happy, I can let him go...in any case, it makes no difference....”
....................................
Xie He lay on the ground. This painful nightmare replayed itself over and over again, as if on an endless loop. He had come to seal away this fiend but he had failed....
He had failed....
His hands were both tightly secured onto the ground and his lips were bloody. The man kissed him on the neck and mercilessly drove into his body.
Xie He’s gaze became increasingly fuzzy. Afterwards, he heard the sound of a ring falling to the ground. It was the holy weapon of the Elves. The ring had suddenly lost control at a crucial moment in the sealing process and fallen to his feet. It was then left at the seal.
Saj’s low chuckle reverberated in his ear. “You don’t get it, do you...?”
Xie He let out a suppressed gasp.
Saj said, “Feel my dark energy. Your body is no longer clean. You’ve already been stained by darkness. Look...even the holy weapon can feel it. It thinks that you’re filthy, evil. That’s why it didn’t bow to your control.”
Xie He’s pupils constricted. An extremely pained expression then emerged in his eyes, as if the world had turned upside down. His lips trembled, “No...it can’t be....”
Saj bit his ear. He really liked the beautiful elf’s ears. Just a light touch could make the elf go crazy. He laughed quietly, “Why not...? You’re not willing to admit that you’ve been stained by darkness, that you’re no longer clean?”
“Accept reality...what’s hard about that?”
“No...” Xie He murmured. He was about to be defeated. He wasn’t willing to believe that his body had been invaded by darkness, that he had become some ugly, sinister thing....
Saj’s laugh was low and dark, resounding in the night sky. “Accept reality. You won’t suffer as much....”
Prior to this, a part of him had split off and escaped through the broken seal. He had incessantly used dark energy to pollute the elf’s pure body. His goal was to ensure that Xie He would not be able to use the holy weapon. This way, when it came time to seal Saj away, he would fail. Then he could escape, taking advantage of the broken seal.
Yet...it was rather interesting to see such a pure, flawless being be polluted and made to fall.
He couldn’t wait for the day when this beautiful elf would completely fall into the darkness.
?Ding, the target Saj’s Favourability Value +5. The current Favourability Value is 65.?
....................................
When Xie He woke up, Saj had already left. The wound in his abdomen had already been healed quite well.
He knew that Saj did not kill him because he wanted to toy with him. However, he could not give up like this. He had to go back and warn his clansmen. He had to go back....
Xie He endured his body’s discomfort, put on his clothes, and then continued running back.
Because the seal had been broken, dark energy quickly spread. It constantly eroded the forest. When they came, the Dead Sea Forest had still been a place of tranquility. Now, it had become a barren land.
While Xie He continued his journey back, he did not encounter Thamior, nor did he see his corpse. They had already split apart. He only hoped that Thamior had been able to escape safe and sound.
Saj was obviously very interested in toying with Xie He. Every night, he would violate Xie He.
However, no matter how he tormented Xie He at night, no matter how much Xie He suffered or pleaded, the next morning, the elf would still continue heading back, unflinching in his resolve. He had never given up on his conviction.
After much difficulty, Xie He traversed the Valley of Death and the Spectral Marshes. He once again walked across the endless Wildlands. Finally, he reached the brink of Nolan Forest. He was almost home.
That night, Saj violated him again.
In Xie He’s ears, he said, “There’s no use in going back now. It’s already too late. Darkness has already descended. You are all fated to be reduced to dogs, to become slaves of humans. The beautiful elves have always been the most delicious of goods....”
Xie He had on a pained expression. But there was still a sliver of a light of clarity in his eyes. He said, “You won’t prevail...Darkness will definitely be defeated!”
Saj let out a derisive laugh. “Oh? And who will defeat Darkness, ne? You? Or the Church? Or that despicable Holy Son?”
Xie He recalled Joshua’s betrayal and his face paled.
Saj admired the look of immense sorrow on Xie He’s face. He then once again disappeared into the darkness, satisfied.
Xie He waited until Saj left before he struggled to get up from the ground.
Because dark energy had pervaded his body, the forest that had always been friendly to him now felt estranged. The trees and animals were no longer friendly. He wasted a lot of energy before he was able to make it back to the Elves’ territory and see his familiar clansmen.
It was too wonderful. They were fine. He still made it in time! Xie He walked forwards, moved, wanting to reconvene with them.
However, the patrolling elves saw Xie He first and glared at him in indignation and grief. They shouted, “You actually dare to show yourself! You killed Elder Wil. You’re the traitor that released the Darkness!”
Xie He was startled. Soon, an arrow pierced him in the shoulder!
Intense pain warped his expression. He watched as his clansmen, who were once friendly and close to him, glared at him with hatred. They didn’t hesitate to point their weapons at him!
His heart froze over.
The author has something to say:
