Chapter 122: Breaking the limit~1

[Kevin's POV:]

I have always been a prideful person ever since I awakened my attribute and began training under my father's tutelage. It was not overconfidence but a simple self-evaluation and observation I had through the phases of my life where I have always proven myself superior to those of my age.

My father, the General of Knight Order and the person who has won his title through his consecutive achievements took the role to help me get proficient in my skills and push my body to its very own limit and get the best result out of it.

I didn't fail him and continuously stood upon his expectations until I reached the Pristine Academy.

Only a single spar and all the pride I had preserved in the past was exhausted since I was utterly defeated by a person who holds the position of Student Council President and also the son of an entity whom even my father could not dare to trifle with.

My father told me that if I want to crush Seth Albeck and want to regain my pride, then it couldn't be through any informal method or any cheap tricks since even if it succeeds the follow-up consequences would be something my family would not be able to handle.

So what was left for me to look forward to? Of course, it was the selection round where I finally got the chance to once again have a 'friendly' match with the council president, and this one was official in front of so many gazes, then even if I damage the Albeck brat nothing would be incurred to me afterward.

'Look at those fucking eyes... '

I was barely holding myself from growling out loud upon seeing those sharp eyes of Seth who still was full of confidence and ego like coming here or fighting with me is nothing but a waste of time for him. I still remember, that even on that day I was not able to inflict much damage before I was ruled out but today things would be different.

Since more than the tournament itself, I want to crush this guy and show the world that the blood of a warrior would always come out victorious.

"Contender Kevin, ready?"

"Contender Seth, ready?"

"Fight!!"

Hearing the command, if it was my previous self, then I would have lunged forward and attacked him head-on without minding any trivial details or forming any strategy but...

"Earthen Summoning: Mirror fortification!"

Activating the spell I slammed my palm right on the ground just after the match was initiated. I have a goal in mind and I could not let my anger ruin the path to my victory.

Just as I intended a set of anonymous hardened mud walls sprouted around the arena, which would provide me with the window I need.

The first step to defeating a psychic type of opponent is to block their vision and don't let their gaze fall on you. Every attack Seth might have in his arsenal depends on whether he has even a second worth duration of view on his opponent or not.

'Okay, phase two... '

I was currently standing behind a ten feet mud wall and hadn't felt any change in Seth's movement whatsoever. That irked me a little but I knew if I do everything as planned then today would be the day I could talk to my father while looking at him in the eyes.

I jumped from my spot toward the other mud wall without providing more than a half-second view to my opponent. The gap between the two walls was only three meters so I was able to leap pretty easily and since I have used a decent amount of soul energy in the summoning, there were a total of thirty-six walls currently standing erect.

Four walls were neatly arranged in one layer and nine columns which end up at the other end of the arena where stood my target.

I didn't stale at one place before jumping toward the other one which advanced me toward Seth. I kept my movements crisscrossed to not get obvious and fell into his trap but what made me uncomfortable was how calm Seth seemed until now.

That bastard...did he accept his defeat.

The possibility was close to none so I didn't waver from my path and kept on leaping and leaping forward without letting a single strand of my hair get into clear vision. The crowd has begun snickering at my cowardly move but they are nothing but fools who don't know what kind of sly bastard this Albeck is.

I reached the eighth row and hid behind the wall which was in the center. I collected my breath and used my other skill [Enhancement]. A warm sensation began circulating throughout my body as my slight fatigue disappeared in an instant.

If my calculations are right then Seth must be predicting that I would jump on the ninth column before attacking him but that would be too predictable.

"Huppp!!"

I gathered my strength in my legs, veins protruding at uneven places before with a bang I launched into the air. The walls were only slightly more than three feet taller than me so it was no difficulty jumping over them more so when I was in this stage.

I heard a lot of gasps from the audience because of my sudden front-on assault but what disturbed me most was my target who currently...

....had his eyes closed?!

"Take this you asshole!"

I couldn't help but tell my curse out as I leaped toward my prey with my fist clenched tightly and pillars breaking strength packed in it. Seth would surely get his bones broken from this and more than the crunching sound of this dipshit's bones, nothing could soothe my ears.

A drop of sweat trickled down as I neared his face by meters in seconds before I found my hand just inches apart from his goddamn nose and ready to blow his face.

But for god sake...

"Akh!!"

I found my fist being caught in mid-air even though Seth has yet to move or even see me to activate his skills. What the heck was this resistance?! It felt like I was being caught by a massive hand that was hung like a joke show in mid-air.

I enhanced myself further and further. Dug deep inside my soul to pour out all the strength I have before I finally found my hand movable once again.

I didn't waste even an ounce of time before leaping back and standing behind the first-row wall which was some feet away from the still calm Seth. Fuck! How annoying.

I saw my hand which had a few torn muscles and the skin seemed a little reddish brown as well, signifying that the psychokinesis force Seth used to hold me was nothing to scoff about.

'When the hell did he get that strong?! And he still hasn't seen me attacking him, even once. Isn't it completely out of order?!'

The teachings of my father seem to be failing right here. Or is this guy just built differently from the norm?

"I thought you might have other cards up your sleeves..."

"!!!"

Dread.

The feeling of dread never has been so vivid as it was now when I heard the voice which naturally belonged to the only person who was in the arena other than me. The distance from where his voice reached me was dangerous enough to send a chill down my spine.

When and how did he approach me this close was a question I would be contemplating for a while after this match but now I couldn't let my focus get dull just because of the slight fright I felt by his sudden approach.

I didn't look toward my left where I knew stood the person I was targeting earlier but only leaped away to make some distance. However, just as I was about to move I found my legs being locked at my spot.

"It's over for you, Kevin."

I only found a chance to look at my opponent before I found his right fist advancing toward my solar plexus.

**BAAAAM***

"KHAK!!"

For a moment there my vision turned entirely white as I wondered which moron td me that a mage has weak physicality?

Before I could regain my footing I was thrown, breaking walls into repetition and the portion where I received the blow, stung like a stone pillar has struck me.

I dropped to my knee and held my bearings somehow. My nose dripped with crimson liquid and so was my mouth. My limbs were shaky and my consciousness screaming in frustration and anguish at how miserably I was played by that man again!

'No....no....this was not supposed to happen... I can't accept this... I can't fucking accept this!!! '

At that moment, my latent skill which I have barely used before emerged, and before I could have held myself even a little back, I was already inches away from clawing Seth's throat away, claiming his life as a conclusion.

*****

A/N: - One of my regrets in the story was how I underdeveloped the only male character other than the main ones who had the most potential.

Sorry to those readers who are bored by fighting scenes but can't help it. Until I don't write it... I would never get better at it.

This would end in the next chapter so bear with me until then...
