Chapter 138: Round two: Begins!
[The Match Day]
[Seth's POV: ]
It's only three minutes remaining before the first match of the second round between the Pristine Academy and the Royal Academy of Veterans would commence.
As it has been notified for the purpose of preparation, there were two raised platforms with an average circumference of 300 meters. The landscape was full of trees and bothersome bushes contaminated by hundreds of traps. The terrain was perfect for hiding and ambushing your opponent and in the absence of Soul Detection, a participant only has to depend on their perception to remain conscious.
Fatally injuring your opponent is prohibited but knocking them out isn't.
In between the two bases, there was a distance of 7 meters and a lake in between for students to swim and climb the other side to claim the flags.
As for the flag section then it was a fenced perimeter inside which forty blue flags were hoisted and the same for the other side minus the flag color. They had black ones.
The participant is not prohibited from entering the flag region but they wouldn't be immune inside it from the opponent's attack, however, once a flag reaches the flag circle, it cannot be attacked.
I didn't have to remind everyone about the plan once again since it would only break their concentration.
Ciel and Arata were on the offense, prepared to launch forward and claim as many flags as they could in the time of three hours. They are using lightweight weapons so they do not get slowed down.
Ciel was carrying a pair of batons and Arata had a composite staff that can expand up to two meters and retracted to the size of half a foot, currently attached to his waist.
Kevin had a small club and shied to defend the flag region and as for me then I had a bow and arrow along with a single baton hanging on my waist.
The arrows I was using did not have sharp ends, to honor the rules, but the metallic spheres which would hurt a lot, if it hits from a distance. The bow and the string were tailored and made by my build, which I brought along from my hometown.
No sharp weapons were allowed and all those weapons that the participants decided to take in, are evaluated and tested first. It goes without saying that we also get checked thoroughly as well.
The uniform we were given for this round was a body suit, perfectly comfortable and stretchable. It was water-resistant and felt cool on the skin. Overall, the attire was aligning with the needs of this round.
The stage was set. The audience was quite down. The announcer appeared hanging in mid-air. Now it's all about how we perform.
"Participants, ready? Begin!"
"Hupp!!"
Arata leaped into action just like Ciel as both of them began dashing toward the cliff of the hill, the same goes for the other team.
Ciel was faster than Arata in terms of agility as she propelled with incredible strength and used the edge as a jump board she left a small crack on the ground before diving into the water. Her leap was so smooth and the force of the hop was high enough that I think she would reach the other end within two minutes.
However, if Ciel was wonderful then Arata was probably amazing since he did not just leave a crater from where he took off but he didn't have to dive into the water at all.
That guy just jumped more than twenty feet without utilizing his soul energy and just through his physical capability he reached the other platform. Indeed he has grown terrifyingly strong in a very short period.
"Hoh...that's what's called a head start... "The reason Kevin spoke those words stems from the fact that Arata just took the other team's aggressor by surprise since that guy was just preparing to jump toward our side when suddenly Arata landed just in front of his face.
It was hilarious seeing that reaction from a 6'3 bulk guy.
Arata took advantage of his immediate opponent's shock and planted a frontal kick right in his gut before the guy named Brian fell backward to the ground signifying that the assault contained extensive brute force to bring out such a conclusion.
Ciel was reaching her end as well, she just needs to climb about twenty feet and with that agility, it would take only minutes for her.
The person on Ciel's side also dove into the water despite her partner falling before the match even properly started.
"Keep the base clear..."I told Kevin before I began walking toward the edge. My job was to protect both, the defense and the offense.
I am not intending to harm the aggressor until they don't reach this end since Kevin would be enough for that. What I am more concerned about is the supporter on the other side who currently was holding a staff in her hand to knock out Ciel just when she steps onto their platform.
**SCREECH**
*TUH*
I pulled the arrow and aimed for the supporter girl whom I recall to be named Angelena, before releasing my grip.
The arrow was heavy yet it flew perfectly across the platform and approached the target at great speed.
But as one could expect the elites of the academy, the arrow was swatted away by the wooden staff easily before the blond girl smirked at me from the other side.
In response I just raised my brows and sighed since if she thinks that I wanted to hit her with that and my plan just failed then she's marvelously wrong.
"EHHHH?! "The reason Angelena cried was that when she was busy smirking at me, Ciel jumped on the surface and while still crouched down to avoid Angelena's line of sight, she kicked her feet off balance, resulting in the opponent team's supporter now falling into the water.
Everything is going as just planned.
Our aggressors were on that side but we got no one on our platform since the raider from the opponent's team is still busy climbing up. I am planning to drown him back but for now, my focus went toward Arata.
'What is he trying to do...?!' My fist clenched in annoyance as I saw that idiot not going for the flags by utilizing the confusion of the Defense unit who was scrambled in whether to help his fallen aggressor or block the incoming attack from Ciel. The blockhead protagonist is rather going to confront the defender for some odd reason.
'Why is he-Forget it.'
"Ciel, go for the points!" I soon rest my case with Arata since I knew from the start that he would go against my words so I focused on the person who at least hears my commands.
I was very well aware of why Arata was trying to show off his skills and strength here but if his foolishness costs us this round, I am so gonna screw him over in old style...
****
A/N: - Hang in there Seth. Arata is just trying to impress his crush...
If you guys are confused then the supporter cannot stop both aggressors from climbing the platform since the stage is too wide for the supporter to be everywhere.
Drop a comment if you have any confusion and also if you liked the chapter.
