Chapter 157: Do you want him?
Laila was feeling thoroughly hopeless.
Initially, when Arata offered her the role to backstab Seth she accepted the offer since she knew if not her then that guy would pick someone else.
That day, all her respect for Arata burnt into cinders however she swallowed her bitterness and accepted the offer. The reason she presented was that she wanted to humiliate Seth to avenge her family and the disrespect they faced.
However, in reality, Laila never thought of harming the man who has loved her for so long. The man whom she has wounded this much until now.
Laila was never a smart kid but at that time she found herself in the shoes of a brilliant mastermind. She imagined that there would come a day when Arata finally would decide to harm Seth and at that time Laila would uncover his evil deed.
In that way, she would be able to win Seth's trust again, and maybe...just maybe, Seth might once again begin liking Laila like he used to in the past.
However, that guy who could have led Laila's steps toward the man she yearns for suddenly secluded himself from the rest of the world and no longer was in the mood to harm Seth at all.
More like Arata was not being himself anymore. Laila really doesn't have anything to do with him but still for him to take backfoot, sabotaged every dream Laila dared to fantasize.
'Haha...I can't even tell anyone, how marvelously my master plan has failed... '
Dryly chuckling to herself Laila made her way toward her dorm after roaming around the campus aimlessly for the whole day. Indeed it was a gloomy day for her.
[...want...him?]
"Hmm?! "
Laila suddenly turned on her toes to look at the unfamiliar source of voice only to be facing nothing but thin air.
Not a single presence she could feel around made the scene even more alarming.
"Who-" Laila was about to ask what this was all about and who was there when the same feminine voice resonated from her behind.
[Do you want to be with him...your beloved Seth?]
Hearing that name, Laila's eyes slightly widened as she realized that the source of this voice knows about Laila a little too deeply.
Laila did try recognizing the voice but to no avail.
"What are you? Without you showing me yourself, I won't respond to your questions. "
Laila made her point with her guard pulled up and ready to engage in combat the very moment she finds anything suspicious.
[Before I show myself...I want to know...whether you want to bestow your beloved with the power he desires and get loved by him? ]
The voice insisted to know her thoughts and it was doing a great job to make Laila contemplate over her next words.
She was made to think of a scenario where she could be of any benefit to Seth and help him reach a greater height. Recently, how he has been Laila knew Seth no longer was bound by superficial matters of romance and love. Seth had a better goal and far higher ambition to reach, unlike Laila.
If Laila really wanted to be liked by him, she needs to provide something in return or Seth wouldn't even bat an eye in her direction anymore.
"Yes...I want to..." Before the pink-haired could even realize it, she mouthed those words.
[Very well... ]
Suddenly, a blinding light descended from the skies making Laila cover her eyes to protect herself from the illumination.
The very moment, the haze cleared up and the figure of a woman grew vivid, Laila knew she had to accept this offer.

[Back in the mansion]
"I am not going to cancel the engagement nor allow you two to do anything rashly regarding the matter. This is something I have decided for myself I do not remember when I let you two decide my life and my decision. So stay within your limit before I try distancing myself from you both, for good. "
This was the ultimatum Seth was saving for the end and seeing how annoyingly both Anabelle and Maydeath were arguing over his engagement, Seth no longer held it back.
They had mutual advice on the matter and that included violence to its best.
Stealing the treasure piece was what Maydeath suggested and Anabelle was going for a full-fledged war against the Count.
The irony resides in the fact that people tend to believe that all healers are generally kind-hearted and merciful beings. And here...
Hearing Seth's words, Maydeath and Anabelle had their eyes widened to their limit as they stared at the guy like he had uttered something diabolically offensive.
"Don't be like this Seth... "
"We were just saving you from needless baggage that's all... "
Both of them dashed to either side holding his arms as they pleaded in a honey-sweet voice.
"We won't harm those bi- I mean, Serena and Celine... "
"...so please don't hate us... "
Above everything, these two clearly don't want to be hated by him yet they say things that annoy him to no end.
Seth didn't give in just now, as he pulled himself apart from them and took out two papers from his spatial storage.
"I don't believe either of you when it comes to my relationship with other women. Just write your terms and we will sign a Soulbond right now."
Both Anabelle and Maydeath took the lightly glowing paper which had the written terms which Seth wanted both of them to follow.
This was a Heavenly Punishment bound Soul Bond which would bestow the breacher with the tribulation descended from heavens. In some cases, people even become disabled. However, there was no precedent of someone dying even though they were of low rank.
For Anabelle and Maydeath the punishment wouldn't be anything near fatal but it would surely injure them for a month's worth of recovery.
Both ladies looked through the contract with narrowed gazes before filling in their own terms in the lower section.
For some reason, Seth could see the redness spreading over their faces yet their fingers didn't halt for even once.
'What are they up to?' He wasn't oblivion to their thought processes so he knew how weird their demand could be.
And true to his expectation, when Seth took back the contract, his brows knitted in a tight frown.
"The hell... "

Drop a comment if you feel bad for Laila.
No seriously, there must be someone who sympathizes with that girl.
