Chapter 18: Daydreaming!

'Plot has again shifted eh…. '

Looking at the person assigned as my sparring partner there was only this conclusion I could land upon.

Well, fortunately, I wasn't facing the protagonist which could have potentially raised some death flags, but the boy in front was no good news either.

Tanned skin, almost 7 feet in height, lean stature yet muscles packed beneath that martial art uniform. Yes, he is the brother-in-arms who would become the sidekick of the protagonist.

Kevin Lewinhart. Son of General Saebes and the person who has mastered the skill of [Berserk] only after training for five years after his awakening.

Well, there are some certain benefits of living with a battle-maniac father, after all.

In the novel, Arata and Kevin despite being mismatched in social standings become friends after the protagonist defeats this battle frenzy, brutally. That day Kevin realized that there was always someone stronger than him.

But there is some time for that event to unfold, so right now, the Kevin standing some feet away from me is still the hot-blooded arrogant child who thinks of himself as an Honorary Knight or sort.

"Now, there would be a security check of both candidates to ensure that none of the sides carrying any illegal artifact or object. I hope the President doesn't mind."

I nodded for the referee to do his job as my gaze wandered to the sidelines where stood the other candidates from both the third year and the first year.

There were quite a few characters I came to know after rebirth and some characters whom I have only read about in previous life.

The one who caught my attention primarily was the one girl standing with a group at the center and smiling merrily.

Her midnight hair was tied in a ponytail with her blue eyes fluttered every time she shifted her focus.

"!!"

Maybe she felt my gaze or something, which made the girl turn her glance in my direction before our eyes met just for mere two seconds.

I turned my head back toward the front hurriedly.

I mean I wouldn't mind being caught staring at someone. But that someone was none other than the main heroine, Annabelle.

'Well, I better avoid that walking landmine…'

[Meanwhile in the audience]

There were quite a number of students standing near the first dojo where students would be performing their spars. There were twelve other rings as well, but since it was the first match, students were asked to observe the brawl between the top best of both the first and third year.

Kevin undoubtedly was a prodigy and if talking about the senior batch, then there was no idol student to match Kevin, other than the renowned President himself.

As the match preparations were undergoing, a group of five girls belonging to either year were circling at the center of the audience as they chatted about school and stuff.

The males present around were peeking at this specific group often because each one of them was a high-class beauty with their unique charm.

"I just hope I get to pair with someone like you, Laila-senpai. Then I can gracefully lose without any kind of regret."

The one who spoke with an exasperated sigh was the blond beauty, Serena who did not have much knowledge of martial arts and only knew some basic self-defense movements.

"I am not very strong either, Serena-chan. If not for the inspirational agenda, I might have already forfeited."

Laila also sighed in resignation since she also had a weak build despite having a decent amount of physical prowess. She just doesn't like to cling to anyone other than her pet and family members.

The other girls also shared their thoughts and the gossip continued.

On the other side stood a raven-haired lean youth. His facial features were above average but the smile he currently had was peculiarly charming.

His eyes were fixed on the group of girls mentioned above as he thought about the future where he would be in a relationship with three of them along with two others who aren't present here.

Arata already fell for Serena a while ago. He has come to like the bubbly Laila as well after he saw how generous and adorable her genuine personality is.

The person who fascinated him the most was the raven-haired girl, whose name he remembered to Anabelle as per what he heard from Serena some days ago.

Apart from overwhelming Soul Energy which she masterfully suppresses, her beauty was no less than Serena or Laila. If not, Arata knew he would fall deeper for Annabelle even more than his childhood friend.

Serena was indeed his sweetheart but because of their different social status, there always remained some distance between them.

But Annabelle comes from a commoner family as well, and coupled with such a lady-like appearance and that mesmerizing smile, Arata knew he would be charmed by her in no time.

'I am sure Kaa-san would love to meet such an elegant girl… '

He was daydreaming while standing alone whereas back in the group, Annabelle spoke something completely out of the blue, making Laila startled.

"There's something I have heard quite a lot recently, Laila-san about you."

The other girls immediately fell silent since when a generally quiet person talks, the other naturally gives them a priority.

Laila blinked in perplexion as she tilted her head to the side before asking in an uncertain tone.

"I don't understand, Anna-san. What exactly are we actually talking about?"

The attention of others were drawn to this group so naturally they all were hearing their gossip, given their heightened senses.

Anabelle also blinked in innocence like she never knew that this news was only known to her because of Ciel. And also, this information was kept hidden due to certain reasons.

She clearly just was quelling her curiosity nothing else~

"I heard that your engagement with President has been annulled. I wonder if senpai knows about this?"
