Chapter 74: I guess it wasn't that bad?

[Seth’s pov:]

My rebirth has pretty much altered the plot and so have my actions one after another. Things that have taken place never did an event which never should’ve existed, I forced them in.

Just like the Vault in the Temple which was destined to gift the protagonist with a must essential artifact for his future growth. The Vault is a mysterious place to say the least since it evaluates one potential and what future awaits them before granting them a reward.

I was excited to see what power boost I receive with the weird eye-engraved ring I got. But never did I think that I could have hit such a massive jackpot by being thrown in there.

‘What the fuck is this….!’

Thankfully I held my squeal or the guards around would have doubted my sanity with the amount of exclamation I was slipping off ever since I ingested soul energy in this artifact I had on my index finger.

My eyes were closed but I was able to see every single detail around me. Not only that, but the normal range of my eyes reaches about thirty meters. Thirty meters of undisturbed straight vision where I could read smallest to smallest details. But my perception was limited to the side I had my eyes turned to.

But with this ring, I was able to surveillance approximately 50 meters around with myself as its center. Not only that, but it seemed I was like some kind of flying creature who was looking down on all things from above the ground level, just like an RPG player.

Through the trees, or any other obstacles I was able to clearly discern everything within my reach.

My vision was so refined that I believed I was better off using the skill rather than my original eyes. But there was a catch.

“Khak…”

Suppressing my groans, I halted the supply of my depleting soul energy since only a minute of artifact and I was on verge of collapsing.

Taking out three [Repletion potion] I downed them one after another and raised my hand toward Lara who was about to approach me with a worried face.

This was nothing to be stressed about since I intentionally pushed myself to know my limits. By this, I now have a general idea of how much I could utilize this cheat the ability of mine before running out of gas.

Potions were an option but I don’t like always relying on them.

“Haaaa….”

Taking a long breath, I once again channeled my soul energy into the ring but other than the RPG eye, I tried to focus on my other skills and my subconscious.

And yup, I have progressed.

Without having a clear analysis of my skill, I still could tell that by using the ring I had a better grasp of my powers, and the calmness I found my mind in, was truly phenomenal for someone who uses psychic powers.

Tempted, I once again explored my enhanced perception to look around and for god sake what cheat ability is it, I have a feeling that I can penetrate through secluded areas as well. So to prove my hunch I started to make preparation for my experimentations.

‘Let’s do this…’

(After an hour)

*Huff*Huff*

Huffing like a dog in heat, I rested myself against a tree trunk as Lara actively wiped my sweat with a frown. She warned me twice already but I never listen and continued to exhaust my Soul energy four times before I felt like stopping.

Potions do wonders but it was not suggested to use them more than once or twice a day unless emergency. External additions of energy not only affect the rate of natural energy build-up but slowly affects one’s core as well.

In simple words, potions are sweet poison.

‘Well, it was worth trying…’

I did not have any Barrier skill user so I used an artificial barrier with the help of an artifact to check on the extent of my skill, [Third-eye]. Pretty cliché name, but I can’t think of anything else.

Fortunately, just as I expected, the artifact worked through the barrier and gave me an unobstructed vision up to a 50-m radius.

I tried using my other skills like psychokinesis and Lull, and surprisingly my range of skills and efficiency have elevated, albeit not drastically.

I was able to root out a medium-width tree with a lot of effort, but I didn’t let it show on my face how much struggle it was to achieve such a feat. There were many eyes around after all. I pretended to be aloof about it and made a mental note to have constructed a training ground back in the school mansion.

I have yet to test the necklace which Serena gave to me but sensing myself nearing the limit, I let the thought postpone for now and called for the carriage.

“Young master, where are we going?”

As I walked forward after having a short break, I heard Lara’s weak voice reaching from behind. The reason for her tone was that I scolded her coldly some moments ago for reacting so much.

I accept I was harsh with her but the sooner Lara understands how I couldn’t remain sheltered all my life, the better it would be.

Thinking of her question I didn’t have to ponder for long as I responded soon after.

“Dungeon city, Panorva.”

“Fucking hell…”

As soon Arata was released from the cell, he cursed under his breath. Because of no particular reason, he has been locked up in the cell for about a day.

Naturally, he didn’t curse any of the guards for fear of again getting locked. Despite having the strength to handle most of the soldiers here, Arata didn’t want to make a criminal record of himself.

Walking out of the underground prison, the fresh air of the morning sun, made his heart light as he took a deep whiff of air.

“Here, kid. This is for compensation.”

Arata instinctively caught the pouch thrown at him. Turning with a frown who was such an idiot to throw a heavy bag on someone’s back but soon Arata’s frown ceased as he saw the prison in charge standing there. Unlike others, this man was strong and held authority enough to fuck over his life.

Checking the pouch, Arata found there were several silver and some gold coins inside which naturally made him perplexed.

“This…”

Arata’s confusion was unheard and soon he got dragged away.

Generally, he doesn’t like to owe anyone but remembering the discomfort he had felt past the day, he thought this sum would be quite helpful for him to buy good material for his sword.

‘I guess…this trip to jail wasn’t that bad…’
