Chapter 102: Assert dominance
Koss woke up a few hours later. Tula went beside her father and told him how Vincent had a nice magic trick to make food appear with glowing light.
Vincent frowned as he didn’t want to show his Soul Dimensional Storage ability that much. He didn’t want Koss or Tulip to doubt the lie Ester said.
“It’s my special storage and not a magical trick. I can’t use magic. I told Tula many times, but she likes to say its magic because of how it looks.” Vincent said to defuse the situation the troublesome Tula was about to cause.
Vincent summoned a few Ani Bananas for Koss to eat. Unlike Tulip, Koss didn’t seem fazed or surprised at the glowing materializing fruits in front of his eyes.
While Koss was eating, Tula sat beside Vincent and whispered in his ear, “I told my daddy how you didn’t want to marry me and how you promised to be my big brother. My daddy was so happy for me that I saw my daddy raise a big wide smile.”
Vincent gulped as a cold sweat immediately formed on his forehead and slid between his brows. He soon felt a shiver down his spine while glancing at Koss.
Koss stared daggers while frighteningly munching on an Ani Banana. It felt dangerous in so many ways at the meaning and intentions he could mean by this kind of eating mannerism.
.....
[Yep, Koss is an overprotective father, all right. He will chew you up the moment to make advances on his daughter. Be careful, or you might become a eunuch... pfff, haha.]
Before Koss began his job as a guard and guided everyone to Lusterfall City, he went to take a good look at the three unconscious new recruits. With a hint of disgust and anger, he turned around to leave this area.
The new recruits started waking up after spending around half a day, piled on top of each other in the cart. Vincent had his fun pulling the cart while bumping the wheels on rocks to provide an uncomfortable bumpy ride.
“The three humans are waking up.” Lupa alerted with a curious gaze on her face. She seemed interested in what Vincent or Koss were going to do to them.
“Koss, shall we take a break and wait for the sleeping bastards to wake up?” Vincent asked.
Koss nodded, and the group decided to take a break. They threw the three new recruits on the ground uncaringly and rested until the unconscious young men opened their eyes half an hour later.
Koss approached the three with an angered frown. He clenched his fists and primed the pair of fists of discipline and lightly hit the top of their heads.
“You idiots, how can a weak group of three people survive in Aero Forest? The man or the beastman would’ve killed you if I didn’t stop you.” Koss suddenly changed his tone as if he were their savior, causing the three to raise their gaze at Koss and display a conflicted frown.
Koss turned his head, facing Vincent, and sent a swift sly wink. It was a plan that the two and Kazumi concocted after Koss begged for the three young new recruits’ lives. He asked to let the three stay with them and punish them accordingly later.
Koss was in charge of their sorry asses and was responsible for bringing them alive. However, he planned to write a detailed report of their misdoings that would earn them their just punishment.
The new recruits nodded at his words. It felt a bit hard to believe Koss saved their lives, but soon the answer presented itself. Their bodies trembled after Koss took a few steps back, and the girls moved a few meters away.
Vincent approached with an angered frown and his teeth showing his furious emotions. They thought a womanizer like Vincent traveling with three beauties wasn’t that dangerous, but he soon showed a side one didn’t want to behold.
“OVERHEAT!” Vincent shouted in furious anger. It was part of the plan to scare the new recruits and show them it was a vile action that shouldn’t be tried ever again.
.
[Overheat activated.]
[Mutation starting to alter the host...]
[Mutation process finished.]
[Race altered to mutated human for its duration.]
.
As the three felt a strange heat surround their bodies, they saw Vincent mutate his forearms before their terrified eyes. The feeling of dread from the murderous intent gradually increased to the point of losing himself in anger.
It seemed with the new change to mutated blood, a stronger and more intense bloodlust developed at his surroundings. The Murderous intent made Koss think a wild beast stood before him.
It wasn’t an act anymore. Vincent’s eyes shone bright like an emerald in front of the sun with an intensity that could pierce their soul. The intense bloodlust made Koss raise frown in surprise while the three new recruits wet themselves.
Ester noticed Tula starting to tremble, and her breathing increasing. She held her shoulders with a reassuring grip. Then she helped the frightened Tula to increase the distance and lower the intensity.
“Don’t worry, little sister. Your big brother will scare them for a bit because they were naughty last night. Also, don’t be afraid of his voice.” Ester whispered to the frightened Tula.
Tula lightly nodded and silently watched while feeling a similar event to this happened before. The time when she was scared of the white wolf form of Lupa but ended loving petting her instead.
Lupa notice Tulip acting the same, but she didn’t help her. Instead, she just pointed at Ester and Tula to follow after them.
It seemed both Ester and Lupa became resistant to Vincent’s bloodlust. As if they knew it wasn’t directed at them, or their resilience to the feeling of dread increased after the fight against the Demonic Beast.
*Clang
Vincent slammed both tightly clenched fists together. The pair of mutated blood gauntlets released a ringing sound. A trail of light green steam exited from the gauntlet’s cracks and the sides of his mouth.
Vincent caused the three wet new recruits to feel as if the grim reaper stood before them, ready to reap their soul for the action they were about to indulge in.
Koss noticed Vincent’s change, both the new combat form and the killing intent that surrounded him. It felt like a different person stood before him. Overheat form seemed to amplify his killing intent, bloodlust, and murderous aura to that of a wild beast or worse, a Demonic Beast.
“Lisen up trash! Koss spent many hours begging me to let you live instead of turning you into fertilizer. As people like to say, let sleeping dogs lie. But you ended up waking me up!” Vincent shouted with a terrifying hoarse voice.
Tame “Please~efff, don’f hurt~f us~ff.”
Hara “We~ef were~f wrong~fff.”
Culo “Have~ef mercy~f. I~ff will~f do~f wad~f you~f want~tff.”
The three new recruits opened their sore, painful mouths uttering words barely comprehensible. They spoke with difficulty and ending each word with an F.
The cause to start the chain reaction for their body to fly was their currently pained contorted and battered faces. Each one of the perpetrators received the fist of discipline right to their faces with enough strength to send them flying.
Their red eyes full of tears begged for mercy, and saliva mixed with blood drooled from their cracked lips. The three begged and apologized for some time, sounding muffed because of a broken nose. A few teeth might’ve been missing as well.
It didn’t last long for the three new recruits to faint one after the other after an intense session of apologizing, begging for mercy, and crying from the frightening Vincent before them.
[I wonder what they would do if the Demonic Beast we fought is in your place instead of you. Or at least the first boss you fought against, the Great Gray Wolf.]
Vincent didn’t respond as his anger increased at the thought of his Ester and Lupa getting assaulted. However, a reassuring grip soon landed on his shoulder and held it tightly.
Vincent suddenly realized why he became angry initially. He quickly snapped out of the strong tide called anger and stopped showing deep hostility reducing his bloodlust.
Koss told him to imagine a scene he didn’t want to think of and become angry with the intent to kill. He would scare the new recruits that way, Koss told him.
However, it worked better than Koss thought as he didn’t think Vincent possessed a Murderiours intent this potent and vicious.
.
[Overheat deactivated.]
[Host Race returning to human.]
.
“Looks like my plan worked better than expected, haha.” Koss suddenly started laughing his ass off.
It was a plan to paint himself as their savior and follow his orders to the letter. The new recruits would be under control that way.
[This old man is quite sly to have suggested something like this. I didn’t think it would work since it doesn’t make sense, but he’s an army instructor alright. We must learn from him, so it’s better to be on his good side.]
-Like a teacher? That doesn’t sound bad. Ester only knows things from what her parents told her and the rumors she heard in Tival Village. A teacher is probably the best way to survive in this world.-
Vincent and Kazumi agreed to find a way and get Koss to teach without getting forced to join the army.
With the new recruits put in their place, Vincent could rest ease. He stopped using Overheat and stored the Mutated Ash before they fell. He didn’t want to show from where the one of a kind flammable material is produced.
[I think it’s better to unequip the three basterds from their armor. We have already taken their weapons and shields, but it’s better to be safe since they can be dangerous if left unattended.]
Vincent quickly suggested this idea to Koss, and he accepted in a heartbeat as if this idea floated in his mind. After a long break, the three new recruits opened their eyes.
They noticed their armor wasn’t on them anymore. Then looked at each other’s battered face with a frown. But one thing was on their minds. They couldn’t say anything to anger Koss nor Vincent.
Soon, they saw the wolf girl approaching them with a frown. She held a bucket with water and a thorn rag.
“Take this bucket to clean that annoying piss smell... ugh, it brings bad memories. You also need to pay.” Lupa revealed an angered frown.
Lupa mentioned to pay them, but it wasn’t as they thought. It wasn’t for what they were going to do, but because Vincent didn’t want to reward her for simply delivering a water bucket and a rag.
Culo was the first target of her anger. He felt a maiden’s hand touching his injured nose but soon screamed in utter pain as she fixed his nose back into its original position without remorse. She was used to seeing humans die by other wolves.
Culo “AHHH!”
Hara “OUCH!”
Tame “ARGG. Haf mercy~yyy!”
Lupa returned to Vincent with a refreshed smile on her face. She delivered justice for not receiving a reward and felt good about it.
