Summoned and Unwanted

Chapter 236

Chapter 236

236 Naming the fourth retainer’s new race

Iris wore a green skirt with flower embroidery at the bottom, a green lace blouse also with flower patterns, and a black scarf tied with a cute butterfly knot.

The set of clothes looked charming on Iris, and it was easy to guess what her favorite color was, but the question Vincent had was, ‘From where did Iris get the clothes?’

Iris looked elegant, giving the impression that nobles wore similar clothes as they relaxed in their mansions. Vincent suspected Yula might have given them to Iris as workers usually don’t throw away things nobles are tired of.

Regardless of the high-quality everyday clothes, the single emerald jewel-like horn gleaming from the sunlight and the pair of attention-catching purple eyes made Iris quite a looker. Her dark green hair with a few vibrant green strands surprised Vincent by how much Iris changed.

Vincent noticed Iris was getting embarrassed. He smiled and said, “Can I inspect your stats? I want to know there are no problems with your different hobgoblin appearance.”

*gulp* Iris nodded and averted her eyes. Iris didn’t think she would feel nervous when Vincent woke up.

Iris forgot she acted differently because of the life or death battle, and her mind was elsewhere.

Vincent stared in front of him for a few minutes. A frown sometimes appeared, and other times he mumbled something.

Ester worried Vincent might have discovered a problem. She held Iris’s hand with a reassuring hold and asked, “I hope Iris is fine. Is there a problem with Iris?”

“No, no problem at all. Iris has high stats, an unknown race, and a trait most probably given by my blood when I was using Overload. I will explain in detail another time, but the trait is like a double-edged sword, and that resets on midnight, so I hope Iris never gets to use it.” Vincent responded.

“...I-I’m not a hobgoblin?” Iris said with a wavering voice.

Vincent slowly shook his head and reassured, “It means you are the first one to be like that. Additionally, the first one to discover your race or allow you to become how you are now gets to name your race.”

“But... but...” Iris shivered at the thought of being an outcast or a target of human greed.

Ester raised her hand and started pointing while saying, “The adventurers guild leader said that Lupa might be the only white wolf beastman in the world.”

“Yeah. There is only one best girl Lupa in the world.” Lupa boasted.

Ester then pointed at Vincent and said with a chuckle, “Vincent is the one of a kind, hehe. ”

“What does that mean?” Vincent joked with a smile.

Ester pointed at herself and said, “As for me, Vincent allowed me to awaken the same class my mother had. Later, with Vincent’s and Lupa’s help, I survived when I was about to die from my magic. I’m not one of a kind like everyone in the room, but I’m rare like you.”

“Ester Ester. What about Plow” *Pho* Plow cutely pouted with a pair of cute cheeks.

“Hehe, I didn’t forget about our cute little fox.” Ester looked at Iris as she continued, “Plow is the only blue mutated nine tail fox in the world because she became Vincent’s familiar with his one of a kind blood.

“So, Iris, aren’t you the same one of a kind like us?” She asked.

Iris started to understand how if enough unique and one of a kind people gathered together, the worry of being unique and out of place diminishes.

*Gulp* “Please... can you give me a name?” Iris nervously asked.

Vincent already gave her a name. Iris felt like she was asking too much by receiving a race name solely dedicated to her.

[Vincent, why do you look as if you saw something you never expected?]

-Tell me the truth and nothing but the truth.-

[Ok... but why are you talking like this? Are you perhaps too excited to add another cutie to your harem?]

-Nonsense, you addicted harem queen!-

-I want to know... how long have I been unconscious? Ester feels like a different person now. I can’t see the cute and shy Ester in front of me.-

[Look who is talking.]

[People mature with time. Ester simply matured much faster than you think. After all, she had to take care of you, Lupa, and Iris at the same time. Furthermore, she had to lead everyone for three days.]

[Didn’t you also change when you had us depending on you? You became the lord of the harem and the leader of many, while Ester became like a big sister to the unpredictable Lupa and timid Iris.]

[Now, let’s put that aside and think of a fitting race name for the new goblin variant you created.]

-...-

Vincent looked at Iris and scanned her from head to toe. Iris now had an attractive face with a pair of eye-catching eyes and horn. Iris became five feet tall and has a chest somewhat larger than Ester’s, which is why Lupa had her ear pulled after pointing out this fact, but Vincent will never know because Kazumi was resting at the time.

“Hmm... Iris looks like a pretty demon and a gray yet human-like hobgoblin at the same time. Iris is half of both worlds created by the mutated blood inside of me...” Vincent mumbled.

[A race should encompass her appearance and features. How about, “The overpowered blood mutated godgoblin with an emerald horn.” ]

While Kazumi was naming Iris’s new race as if it is a title of a novel, Vincent exclaimed at the same time, “Demigoblin!”

[Hey! Why shorten and change my awesome race name?]

Kazumi didn’t sound too happy, yet she neglected how silly a race name with so many words sounded. Kazumi liked a lot of words in everything, it seemed.

“Demi means half. Disregarding your appearance, you are a half of you and a half of me. Your body used my blood as a catalyst to awaken and mutate into a new goblin variant.” Vincent noticed Iris didn’t look nervous anymore.

Vincent raised a beaming smile and added, “You are still a goblin, but different. So Iris, what do you think?”

“Y-yes. I like the race name demigoblin.” Iris raised a smile and her cute dimples appeared.

Iris liked the name, and she felt relieved for having the word goblin attached to her race name. She was worried Vincent would name her race differently because of her horn.

Iris learned from her father that only the demons and a few beastmen have horns on their heads. Furthermore, she was scared of the people looking at her with a strange gaze. People thinking she was a demon scared her.

“With this matter considered as settled, let me check out your new race. ” Vincent stated before he used Inspection.

“Congratulations, Iris, you are now a demigoblin. No matter how special you are, you are mine, ahem... you are ours. We will protect you from danger.” Vincent said.

“With that out of the way, could you please continue about what happened?” Vincent asked.

Ester nodded and continued where she left off.

Vincent learned how Lupa pulled the cart mostly by herself. Then about how he was extensively massaged with the combination of herbs Iris made to promote his muscle regrowth.

Regrettably, Vincent’s nerves were damaged, and it was difficult to move his body from neck down. However, this treatment allowed his body to recuperate and let him have a three-day-long relaxed sleep.

Ester then continued about how Iris wore the old slave collar she kept in case of an emergency. Ester later asked Iris to act as depressed and as frightened as possible.

Even after the gate soldiers asked Ester to say, “Display Status” command and reveal her stats, they looked skeptical for some reason after they saw Ester’s class.

“On their faces was an expression I have seen a lot in my life. After they saw you unconscious in the cart and later saw my stats, I immediately figured out they wanted to take advantage of us.” Ester explained how they encountered a problem, but she understood the gate soldiers were planning something.
