Summoned and Unwanted

Chapter 239

Chapter 239

239 Making a decision after hearing the truth

Vincent looked at Lenn and Renn. The twins were looking at Vincent with an interested gaze. ‘I guess I have to retell what happened from the start once more.’ Vincent thought.

Vincent then looked at Ben. The Vice Captain, with a sword attached to his waist, stared at Vincent with a frown. ‘I’m not sure if Ben is convinced or not, but he is willing to consider this situation and not try anything else. That’s a start, I guess,’ Vincent thought.

Vincent nodded and started to speak. “Kass helped us a lot when it came to killing the Demonic Beast Nok Ape, but it wasn’t enough. Kass helped us tire the monster until his ability used much more than his life could offer...”

“But I managed to luck out in the end and killed the monster before it killed me. Later, after Tula joined us, we followed the smoke rising from the burning Laurel Town.”

“Later, we met with Koss and traveled together. But as you know, we fought against dozens of ants and tried out best against the Royal Guard Ant. Koss tried to kill the ant as quickly as possible, but it exploded.”

“The damaged cart managed to save Ester, Lupa, and Tula from the acid after I pushed them underneath. Everything happened so quickly that I ended up using my body to cover where the cart couldn’t.”

Vincent raised his hand and continued, “I constantly healed my body as it was melting. Only the voices of Ester and Lupa kept me from giving up or descent into madness from the pain I felt. Later I was saved by Feng Mengli. I managed to survive until I woke up and healed myself until I could walk.”

“That’s what happened. This is why I don’t wish any more trouble than I experienced. I want to live in peace and enjoy my fourth chance in life. Kass, then Koss, and later Feng Mengli gave me a new chance to live.”

Tula patiently waited for Vincent to finish. She added with a smile on her face, “I liked playing with my big brother and big sisters in the forest. They helped me make bad ants go away.”

.....

Tula slightly turned her smile upside down and continued, ” But I don’t like swords anymore...”

Yula nodded and raised a smile. “In other words, you saved my daughter and had nothing to do with the death of my husband and my brother-in-law.”

“Yula, why are you smiling?” Ben asked. He looked perplexed.

“Even if Vincent is a dangerous criminal, I would still thank him for what he has done for our family. ” *sigh* “Now I feel better. I knew something kept Vincent, Ester, and Lupa from becoming too over-friendly with us. I already had the feeling they would abruptly leave this house and never return one day.” Yula talked as if she accepted Vincent and his dangerous secret.

“But Yula. You know an invader is dangerous!” Ben started to think straight again and warned Yula of the dangerous mistake she was about to make.

“Vincent, what was your life in your world like?” Yula asked.

[What the... how did this unquestionably sure to fail plan even work?]

[Yula somehow understood we were hiding something. Did she guess we would flee the moment our secret gets discovered from the assumption of us acting somewhat reserved?]

[I feel mind blown right now, but Yula is a scary mother, I tell you.]

Tula placed Plow on the bed. She turned around and hurried to hug her mother. “Mommy, I love you, hehe.” She giggled happily.

“Thank you, mother. Now I know more of my teacher, and I don’t care what everyone says.” The Lenn said with a smile.

“Thank you, mother. I agree brother, father’s words are always right. We must believe who’s in front of us and not the flies around us.” Renn agreed with his brother and nodded.

“Uncle Ben, not all monsters are evil, and not all dogs bite. Teacher Vincent is kind. Please don’t capture him.” Lenn begged.

“I agree, and we will not let teacher Vincent have our elder sister. He has enough. So please, uncle Ben, let our teacher stay here. I... we need him.” Renn begged.

[Ho~ho. Some young teenagers are jealous of our famous Vincent. The twins want you to stay but not woo their sister.]

Ben frowned. “But... it will be dangerous if anyone finds out about Vincent staying here. I don’t want anyone to get hurt because of this... this dangerous secret.” Ben felt like he was the odd one out. He was the only one deeming Vincent as a danger.

Tula stopped hugging her mother and hastily went to hug Ben. “Pretty please, uncle Ben, I love you.” Tula slyly said with a pair of gleaming puppy eyes.

“Ben, you know me well, don’t you? Please trust in my decision.” Yula reminded Ben how she has a knack for telling what kind of person someone is by their eating manners and their interactions with others.

*Sigh* “Fine.” Ben was defeated. He looked at Vincent with a frown and told him, “If anything happens, this family was blackmailed into submission and taken as a hostage out of their own free will.”

“Yeah. I am a very evil person. I kept this family hostage to stay undiscovered for a long time.” Vincent responded.

“Great. But remember, I will keep an eye on you. My friend’s family’s lives are at stake with this dangerous decision.” Ben was forced to accept Vincent after his friend Koss’s family accepted Vincent to live with them.

[It... it worked. Tula, Lenn, Renn, and Yula accepted us. As for Ben, he accepted us after he was forced by peer pressure.]

*Clap* “With this matter settled, let’s go and have some light breakfast.” Yula grabbed everyone’s attention and started walking out of the door. “Tula, want to help me?”

Tula energetically lifted Plow and went downstairs with her mother. However, Plow looked grumpy and was puffing her cheeks in protest. Plow wanted to stay with Vincent.

“Ester, Lupa, Iris, Lenn, and Renn. Can you go downstairs before us? I want to ask Ben something. ” Vincent said.

Ester nodded. ” Let’s go. Vincent needs to eat something better than chewed food.” Ester walked first out of the bedroom. The others followed behind.

Later, Vincent and Ben stared at each other.

*Sigh* “Now I feel better. Ben, do you know how it feels to have your life on the line because of a secret?” Vincent asked as he let go of his fake calm and collected act along with his poker face.

“Were you nervous? So... acting calm as if you had everyone under your thumbs was all an act? I thought you were trying to do something to us when we didn’t expect it.” Ben replied honestly.

“How would you react if I tried to state my case while shouting or stuttering? Wouldn’t I look hostile or look as if I am trying to hide the truth, right?” Vincent said.

“I guess you have a point there...” *Sigh* “What a day today is... so many things happened in the morning, and I don’t think I can ever forget this day for the rest of my life.” Ben turned around to leave. “You better keep your word. I will make sure this family never gets hurt, even if I have to capture you to do it.”

“You have my word. But Ben, could you tell me what else happened this morning to say what you just said? Didn’t you come here looking for us?” Vincent became curious.

“I didn’t know you arrived here yesterday evening. I came here intending to leave a message with Yula and ask to find me after your return.” Ben revealed.

Vincent raised a brow and considered Ben’s words as problematic. “I hope we are not involved in any trouble. We traveled to a distant cave and harvested anything inside. We met with a small tribe of friendly goblins. Iris became my retainer and a part of my family.”

“We also killed three grizzly bears. One was an ordinary bear, one had recently become a Magical Beast, and the other one had just become an Alpha.” Vincent explained while watching Ben stare and slightly open his mouth.

“Does it mean you didn’t meet any bandits?” Ben asked with a shocked expression.

[During the time we spent going to the cave and the time I woke up after a day of slumber, we barely met with critters, not to mention bandits who would not miss the opportunity to attack us.]

“Lupa can see and hear much farther than us humans. However, she didn’t notice the presence nor discovered any tracks of bandits.” Vincent shook his head after receiving the info to confirm why neither Ester, Lupa, or Iris mentioned the word bandits.

“I want to trust you like I want to trust that you aren’t as everyone says invaders from another world are. So I as you again Vincent, did you find even the slightest trace of bandits or not?” Ben asked once again, but this time he spoke in a serious tone.

Vincent got up from the bed and said, “Follow me. Ester, Lupa, and Iris can finish the other half of this serious question. I was awake only half the trip. The other half can be answered by those who were awake on the return trip.”

Ben nodded with a serious frown and followed Vincent downstairs. Ben then repeated this question to Ester, who was drinking a cup of tea, Lupa drinking a cup of milk, and Iris drinking a cup of chamomile tea to relax her nerves.
