Chapter 371

Chapter 371

371 Extra reward? Great!

.

[Name] Zefine

[Condition] Minor Injury, Exhausted, Missing Limb (1 Arm – Left Arm), Afraid, Minor Blood Loss

.

Vincent used Inspection to check Zefine’s current condition. He felt relieved she was doing better. A warm smile appeared on his face.

Vincent felt satisfied to heal Zefine with forty Soul Power. It was possible to heal Zefine by making her his retainer instantly. It would only cost twenty instead of forty Soul Power.

However, the additional heal will allow Zefine to live a life without the fear of having a mark on her body which she needed to hide at all costs. There was no need to give her the ‘take my hand if you want to live, but you might get hunted in return’ kind of choice since she wasn’t in a critical state.

[Look. Zefine is waking up.]

[The previous heal had a lot of wounds to heal. Thanks to Iris trying her best to nurse Zefine, the second heal could heal the half-healed wounds.]

.....

Zefine slowly squinted opened her eyes. She could see a blurry luxurious white ceiling above her head. Soon, a green jewel-like horn entered her sight. A pale gray blurry face with a pair of unusual yet mesmerizing purple eyes appeared next.

Zefine thought she was in the afterlife. “Dragon... Heaven...” She faintly said with a raspy voice. The blurry head of Iris resembled that of a dragon to the dazed Zefine after believing she had died.

Zefine closed her eyes and did not open them again. Iris checked her pulse while Vincent rechecked her condition. Zefine was still alive. The healing spell exhausted all her stamina, and she fell asleep a few seconds after waking up.

Vincent needed to go to the Adventurers Guild and inform Beatrix that the quest was complete. Tomorrow was the day he had to attend the Lusterfal Noble Academy. As such, he would be able only to leave every Sunday.

Vincent didn’t want adventurers to curse at him for completing the quest and let others take it after not informing its completion. The adventurers would take a trip just to hear the Great Gray Wolf was already slain.

Vincent didn’t know whenever the villagers decided to go to the Adventurers Guild and inform the quest’s completion.

Furthermore, Kazumi couldn’t accurately estimate based on the villager’s sudden personality change regarding taking care of a person who had nothing left, as the elder said. No money, no house, no family, or at least not in Okan Village.

Thus, Vincent decided to leave Zefine in the hands of his wives and the mansion’s residents. They would prepare a room to accommodate Zefine and later take her to the room.

Vincent asked to leave Zefine in their hands. He left the mansion with the twins, and after walking to the front gate, Lenn and Renn stood guard. The twins told Vincent how he was benevolent before he left.

“Teacher is a very kind man. I am glad father taught him, and now he is teaching us.” Lenn said to his brother with a smile on his face.

“Yeah, but that young woman looked very injured. She had a missing arm.” Renn clenched his fist and frowned angrily. “But those villagers!”

“Good thing I wasn’t there. I would have kicked their ass for treating an injured person like that.” Lenn patted his chest and acted tough. He raised his arms and flexed his muscles.

Renn patted his chest and straightened his back. He raised a grin and boasted while flexing his arms, “I would’ve smacked them with two sticks if I was there. I bet our teacher would’ve been proud of us for teaching the horrible people a lesson.”

“Hahaha.” The twins laughed and spent the remaining time of the day boasting of what they would’ve done if they were in Okan Village. They also spent some time flexing their muscles as if it was a Mister Olympia show.

Their imagination could become a best seller if they wrote their heroic actions against the supervillain villagers in a novel. Shame no writer was beside them listening to their epic.

*Adventurer Guild*

Vincent arrived in the guildhall. He went to Beatrix and informed her of the quest’s completion.

Beatrix looked assertively at Vincent as if she was trying to find something on him. *Sigh* She sighed and brought the quest details instead of the quest completion form.

“This heroine requests to know the condition of thy companions. Are thy companions in a healthful condition or where their wounds too devastating to follow thou?” Beatrix asked.

Vincent and Kazumi looked at the quest information. The reason soon became apparent. The quest’s minimum participation requirements changed from any C Ranked team to a top C Ranked team or higher for no deaths or heavy injuries.

The quest had new information about the Great Gray Wolf. Previously, it only mentioned a Great Gray Wolf and not its strength.

However, the quest now mentioned that the wolf was above core level seven, and caution is advised. Additionally, the lord of Okan Village added the reward of thirty silver to any adventurer who completes the quest by the end of the month.

“My wives and I killed the Great Gray Wolf. It was core level nine and not seven.” Vincent stretched his arms and neck. “Ugh, I still feel sore, but I will be going to the noble academy tomorrow and see your brother if he is there, as he said. I can rest my body after that fight.”

“This heroine believes the promise maker Vincent. However, this honorable job of justice requests proof.” Beatrix said.

Vincent agreed and asked to go to the guild’s training hall, where he could show her the giant wolf’s body.

Beatrix knew Vincent, and she was even invited to his wedding. She accepted and took him there. Green light illuminated their surroundings, and a giant wolf’s corpse materialized.

Beatrix slightly winched her face when her eyes laid upon the corpse’s horrible condition. Similarly, her snake PeePee became afraid and hid its head in Beatrix’s hair.

*Gulp* Beatrix approached the corpse bravely, closed her eyes, and cut a few fur. It appeared she needed proof of the Great Gray Wolf’s death by using an Inspection Gemstone.

[Good thing we were able to bring proof instead of eating the wolf.]

“G-good. D-death by Lupa Lionheart. A-assisted by Vincent Lionheart. P-please follow me to the r-reception desk.” Beatrix stuttered out of character after confirming the person who slain the Great Gray Wolf.

Beatrix was an adventurer, yet the sight of the wolf’s corpse appeared to have intimidated her. Vincent and Kazumi wondered if her brothers and cousins protect Beatrix a little too much by not looking at the corpses of the monsters they hunt.

Vincent stored the corpse and later signed the document of the quest’s completion. He received the additional thirty silver coins as a reward and chatted a little bit with Beatrix.

As Vincent and Kazumi thought, Beatrix’s brother Ollie was going to attend the Lusterfall Noble Academy as Duke Biro Hawkins student and assistant teacher.

Beatrix mentioned how trilled her brother was for the chance to spar with his friend again. It appeared Ollie wanted to train with Vincent and improve after the adventurer test with Vincent changed his life.

Ollie greatly appreciated Vincent as their spar led to his awakening. It also led to Duke Biro Hawkins noticing Ollie and taking him as his student.

Vincent soon left with a reward he didn’t expect to receive. The Promised Quest didn’t indicate an additional reward nor got updated, but it was probably because the quest was already completed.

Vincent went home because it took some time to return on foot, and it was already getting late.

While Vincent and everyone apart from Iris was eating dinner, Iris appeared and announced that Zefine has woken up. She was scared that Iris wasn’t a human.

However, it was understandable. Zefine was on the brink of death, and after she fainted, not only did she wake up in a different place, but a woman of the gray goblin race was the first person to greet her.

Vincent, Ester, Lilith, and Maid Xu went with Iris. Lupa was too busy eating while Sakura might cause Zefine to faint again.

Zefine looked to her left. Her left arm was missing, and a bandaged stump was all she could see. Sometimes she felt phantom pain, but it would go away a few moments later.

Iris had left Zefien alone in the room. As the time passed, she became anxious, and her mind was filled with worry. This was a noble’s house, and nobles had a bad rep when young women owned favors to nobles.

Zefine looked at a strange small plant on the table. Its tiny leaves slightly moved from time to time as if it was watching her. Somehow, she felt less nervous the more she tried to figure out was Zero actually was.

Soon, the tiny leaves quickly tilted at the door, and not a moment later, the door opened.

One man, two human women, one elven woman, and one demigoblin woman entered.

“Where... am... I?” Zefine slowly said with a slightly raspy voice. It appeared screaming and shouting hurt her throat. But Minor Heal healed her body twice, which might be a temporary problem.

Vincent pulled a chair beside the bed and sat on it.

“I am Vincent Lionheart, and I brought you in my home to recover.” Vincent introduced himself with a friendly smile.

“Zefine, you are safe here with us. You can heal at your own pace and live here if you don’t want to return to Okan Village. But I am sorry to inform you that your house was destroyed.”

Vincent noticed Zefine tremble when he mentioned her house being destroyed.

“However, worry not. We are in need of maids to manage this mansion if you want to remain living here.”
