743 A performance worth paying a hand for
Not too far from Lupa’s fight was Ester with a sword in each hand. The opponent in front of her was Bloody, the strongest gladiator out of the five gladiators.
Ester opened her legs and swiftly performed a spilt, causing the swinging sword to miss.
Ester leaned her body on the ground. She closed her legs and placed her fists on the ground a few inches over her head.
The audience looking at Ester, wondered what she was trying to do. They saw the gladiator recuperate and contort his upper body to swing his sword downwards.
Ester raised her body like a bridge and used the momentum to perform a back handspring. *Thud* The sword landed on the ground without hitting the contorting elusive Ester.
The gladiator and the audience couldn’t believe more methods existed for someone to stand up after lying on the ground. On the other hand, Luciano grinned at Ester’s performance.
The gladiator leaped and thrust the sword at Ester. Yet it was for naught. Ester performed a side cartwheel, landed on her feet, and swung her sword in a cross-shaped pattern.
*Clang* The gladiator blocked Ester’s attack. He retreated a step back and looked at his shield. A frown appeared on his face.
“How can those little swords held by those frail arms scratch this shield?” The gladiator murmured in an angered tone.
.....
Ester didn’t mind what the gladiator murmured or his feelings. She spun her swords around her fingers before performing a reverse illusion turn.
Ester threw both swords in the air when her upper body spun a complete three-sixty degree. The swords spinning in the air caught the attention of the audience and the attention of the gladiator in front of her.
Ester kept moving along the momentum of the reverse illusion turn. She swiftly and casually transitioned into a front flip, then a step out, and finished with a leap.
The gladiator raised his shield. He held the shield’s handle firmly before performing a shield bash.
The gladiator believed the frail-looking Ester was acting absurdly for throwing her only weapons and approaching him. A punch or a kick on the metal shield was, at most, going to cause a tiny dent at the cost of bones breaking.
However, the gladiator experienced something he never expected to experience. After feeling the wind becoming stronger, the closer Ester approached his shield. He experienced a sudden force pushing his shield back.
The gladiator became shocked when he was suddenly overpowered by Ester’s light body or the worst class in the world.
The gladiator could not understand what was happening because this was the first time Ester had performed this kind of attack. Yet he soon got the know the reason why.
The gladiator did not prepare for Ester’s attack, causing him disadvantageous harm. The more he resisted with a bad form, the more his knuckles hurt, and the more strange sounds came from his fingers.
“Burst Forth!” Ester shouted before amplifying her wind sigils many times at the same time, causing the ball of condensed wind to become fiercer and more unstable.
*Bam!* The gladiator was knocked to the ground when the ball of condensed wind exploded and sent a wave of potent wind.
The gladiator rolled a few times before stopping.
As the gladiator tried to get up, he noticed he could barely feel his left hand. He looked at his hand, and a deep frown contorted on his face. His metal shield was bent. His hand was unresponsive. His fingers were broken and bleeding.
On the other hand, Ester contorted her body backward and performed a couple of consecutive back flips with step-outs before landing where she started. She raised her hands and caught the two swords between her fingers before taking an ending pose.
Lupa and Mimi noticed Ester posing. A couple of meters in front of her was her opponent on the ground.
Lupa became even more impatient to defeat the first opponent before Ester, while Mimi smiled as if she was glad Ester was not in danger.
However, regardless of what transpired, the audience did not have time to question how Ester was able to knock the strong gladiator to the ground and wound him.
It was at this moment the three women heard three strangely husky loud roars. Lupa and Mimi peeked at what was happening in the center while Ester turned around.
Ester, Lupa, and Mimi were astonished to see three much larger bears and two bears missing. Additionally, a large dark cloud floats above them. It was an eerie view.
They could not find Vincent or Awa anywhere. Only after hearing the commentator mention them entering the dark cloud and not coming out could the three know where Vincent and Awa were.
From the dark cloud, a head with a pair of shining green eyes poked out. His gaze focused on the bears, and a frown appeared on his face.

[This is great... Sigh. The bears have become thirty percent stronger, get healed, and acquired an unknown level of regeneration.]
-Yeah. Two bears turned into dust without gore, scattered limbs, or even leaving a drop of blood. They also look more enraged than before.-
“Awa. The bears mutated and became stronger. They can also regenerate.” Vincent told Awa to let her know what happened below them.
Awa frowned when hearing the words bears alongside mutated made her recall what had happened in the past few days and how much she and her people had to suffer because of such unnatural monsters.
Vincent, Kazumi, and Awa soon hear the representative of the five noble families comment on how the bear familiars received special training, and he can not elaborate any further.
“Leave it to me.” Awa told Vincent before saying, “Dusk Fall.” to let Night know what her next move was going to be.
From the dark cloud rained a single dark thread. The moment it landed on one of the bears, a dark knight landed swiftly and landed a dive kick with great force and impact on the bear’s back.
Awa jumped up and disappeared into the dark cloud. Another shadow line appeared, and another dive kick landed on the same bear.
Awa landed and disappeared. She landed and disappeared again, and again, and again, and again. She was like a drop of rain constantly falling in an ever-changing pattern from the dark cloud.
Three large bears used their bodies as catalysts to become covered with yellowish pointy earth spikes. The tips were steaming from the blood on them. The blood was much yellow than before, indicating the bears were mutating further from their original red-blooded body.
“Ladies and gentlemen. This is spectacular. On the notes written about Awa Lionheart, the dark clouds and the shadow of destructive rain are called Dusk Fall.”
“Now we can see that the three specially trained familiars are retaliating. They are covering their bodies with spikes at the cost of injuring themselves.”
“Ladies and gentlemen! The familiars are shooting Earth Shards at the dark cloud. But I do not think it is working. Vincent Lionheart is still nowhere to be seen, and Awa Lionheart is still attacking.”
Awa peeked at her parent while landing and jumping. She could see her parents cheer her with their smiles. She could see they were proud of her.
Awa landed on the ground. She swung her leg and kicked the head of one of the bears. The ground underneath her rumbled, and a pointy tip made of hard earth poked from the ground.
“Quake!” Awa shouted while slamming her foot with great force to the ground. The ground under her cracked, and the earth spikes forming in the ground failed to harden.
Awa frowned after noticing she wasn’t in a good spot to attack the third bear with its mouth opened and creating sounds of rocks being grinded from its throat.
One option was left. She needed to make a swift escape maneuver.
Awa lowered her body and steaded her legs in preparation to jump up high. However, it was too late. The third bear finished casting multiple earth shard spells.
The dark clouds shook and contorted before a flash of green light illuminated the shade under it.
Like a green thunderbolt from the dark clouds descended Vincent, his feet landed on the broken earth spikes thanks to Awa’s attacks, and his ten fingers were shoved into the bear’s neck.
Vincent said one brief word, “Implode.” before the bear’s throat bloated and popped from an internal explosion.
The audience and the commentator were astonished to see the third bear die in mere seconds. From everyone thinking Awa was in danger of death, Vincent reversed fate and killed the bear, attempting to kill Awa.
Awa’s parents, Amie and Lamin, were on edge at the sight of their daughter being in danger, but the moment they saw Vincent appear, they became thankful their daughter didn’t get to marry a man who would abandon her.
Awa felt the ground rumble again. She jumped at Vincent and grabbed his hand. “It is going to happen again, right?” She asked.
With one brief nod, Awa understood the bears would once again get entirely healed of their injuries and reinvigorated to attack.
Awa jumped and took Vincent with her to the dark cloud.
