Chapter 203: General of Three Armies (5)

"Second prince!"

"Your highness!"

The soldiers instantly panicked after noticing that the bolt from the opponent's Siege Crossbow struck where Sun Ding Tian was standing. This made some of the soldiers feeling annoyed as they couldn't hold the Rampart Formation any longer.

"Keep the formation up! Do not falter until you're given the permission to move!" Sun Ding Tian's voice came as soon as the dust from the impact was cleared. His breathing is still tense as he was just an inch away from death.

And on his chest piece, an amulet is slowly fading away as the Spiritual Qi imbued inside was exhausted. What was left is some black ashes on the surface of his armor.

"Your highness!"

"Your highness!"

The soldier was invigorated after listening to Sun Ding Tian's voice. Their morale was boosted out of sudden without the need for ridiculous promises and speech. This made Sun Ding Tian feeling perplexed as he was used to rewarding his men for the sake of their loyalty.

'When did these people become so loyal to me?' Sun Ding Tian asked himself. Aside from him, the few other soldiers that tried to block the crossbow bolt on behalf of him were safe and sound, as they're protected by the amulet he's wearing.

"My prince, let's retreat for ten to fifteen steps. You're placing yourself in danger if you keep standing here." one of the soldiers said.

"Yes... My prince, you should retreat to the rear and leave this place to us," the adjutant that was injured said as scabs had started growing on his waist and lower left chest. The armor he's wearing can be said to be no longer working as a third of it was destroyed from the impact.

"You're safe... Have you think before... What am I going to do if you're not around me? Who tells you that you can die without my permission?" Sun Ding Tian grabbed the adjutant's neck as he said.

"Then... All this adjutant needs to make sure is to not die before my prince. I won't leave even if you're kicking me away, then." the adjutant smiled as he replied to his master.

"ORDERS!" one messenger on horse finally here. But with his arrival alone, it wasn't the best thing the Far-Left Army was waiting for.

"Just one messenger... That means we're still going to wait." Sun Ding Tian seems to be accepting things quickly now after what happened a moment ago.

"Look at that brat... To think that I used the wrong method to teach him since he's young... If he was like this two battles ago, do you think he will lose to Xu Hu and his pile of a sand army?" Sun Ding Tian's guardian said while looking at how the second prince accepted Qin Lan's instruction.

"And surprises always come to people that expected less. Look at the two leisurely moving messengers." Sun Wu Jian's guardian said and pointed at the two messengers about a mile away from Sun Ding Tian's position. 

It seems that the order for Sun Ding Tian was given out for a while now. The speed of the order came to him was just a matter of time and his attitude.

"I can't help but wonder how did the boy know which button to push. The experience he has is just out of what we used to do." Yang Wen said. In his mind, he was fascinated by Qin Lan's unconventional method.

"ORDERS!" the second and third messenger came together. Looking at all three messengers in the core of his Rampart Formation, Sun Ding Tian smiled. It was a smile full of expectation as he was waiting for this order to come from the beginning of the battle.

The three messengers placed their order together rather than reading the content inside. A messenger then read what was written on the back.

[Charge forward]

[Slaughter the rear formation]

[Assist Chi-Lan Army]

"Second Prince Sun Ding Tian, I'm sure you know what the general wanted you to do now." one of the messengers rolled the scrolls together and handed it to the prince.josei

"Sun Ding Tian will obey the order from General Qin." he smiled.

"Adjutant. Relay my order. Full force ahead. Our destination is the Siege Crossbow Unit at the rear. We'll destroy their entire unit before rallying behind the Beheading Army!" Sun Ding Tian ordered.

"Your subordinate will move at once!" the adjutant immediately left to prepare.

"Your highness, what about the Rampart Formation and the enemies right in front of us?" another officer asked. Turning their attention back at the frontline, they're still in a fight against Xu Hu's soldiers of four thousand men.

"We will..."

*Bam! Bam! Bam!*

A commotion happened in the middle of their opponent's battlefield as Sun Ding Tian was going to relay his next order.

His attention is placed instantly at the contact point. After the dust from the commotion subsided, several flags are hoisted high as the flagbearers kept marching deeper into Xu Hu's formation.

"Hahaha! General Qin! This Sun Ding Tian will come and thank you after today's battle!"

"Full force ahead! We'll leave this battlefield and slaughter the Siege Crossbow Unit at the rear!" Sun Ding Tian changed his mind instantly after seeing the flags in the core of Xu Hu's Formation.

"Charge forward! Our target is Xu Hu in the enemy's main camp!" Expert Shun and Expert Xie yelled as they punch deep into Xu Hu's formation to claim his head.

"Two fools! All soldiers focus on the intruders! We'll ignore the escaping army and kill the attacking unit coming to me!" Xu Hu quickly shifted his attention to the two experts as he noticed Sun Ding Tian's movement.

But he's yet to notice that while they're two arrows coming at him from the front, there's another life reaping scythe coming from the back.

By the time his army has moved towards where Expert Xie and Shun are coming from, Lu Yi was already less than a few miles from his position.

"Huh?" a soldier noticed the dust that was flying up to the sky from their back. Looking at the direction a little longer, he was shocked to the point words can no longer coming out from his mouth.

"In - In - Incoming!" only a slight sound came out before he was beheaded.
