Chapter 134: Choice (2)
Even without the warning, Luke could tell that. Still, running away isn’t an option. If that thing keeps going unchecked, the airplane will become inoperable and the trip back home will last weeks. After using Appraisal, Luke confirmed what his senses were telling him.

Luke got carried away… he gulped when he used Appraisal on the monster… he was going to be killed in a single strike. Even the appeal of a new quest that would grant him a special skill book wasn’t enough to make him calm down. The monster jumped toward Luke and punched him, even though Luke reacted on time to block the strike with his sword. The monster didn’t even flinch when its fists touched the blade… instead of suffering any damage, he only got scratched and Luke was sent flying to the distance.
Luke spun in the air so many times that he passed out due to the rotation instead of the pain of his arms getting crushed by the pressure of that powerful attack. Luke rolled on the ground dozens of times after flying for two hundred meters and he only woke up because he hit his head hard. Despite that and some dizziness, he didn’t suffer any brain damage.
“… What the hell…” Luke muttered while he was trying to get up and feeling the taste of blood in his mouth.
When Luke checked Rina and Shalia, he confirmed that they were fine, but they still were pale and were sweating cold. That kind of enemy was also beyond them as well… relying on their power for a couple of seconds won’t help. Regardless, the monster prepared to attack again, but its charge was stopped when the soldiers pointed their bows and crossbows and fired at him. The creature only raised his arm to protect his face and then jumped toward that group. Out of five, three dodged, but the other two were smashed against the ground and died.
The battlefield fell silent when that happened and the bull-like monsters used that chance to counterattack. Even Luke was astonished, those guys were at a higher level than him, and yet… it seemed like everyone there was doomed to die and they didn’t know why.
Before Luke could notice it, Rina had healed him, but his bones still were hurting like hell. His HP was full, but it would take a while before he could use his full strength again and without it, he probably won’t be able to block the attack of such a beast. The monster prepared to attack Luke again, but he looked away for a moment and in his line of sight, Luke saw Billy escorting someone out of the airplane. It was a cloaked figure… something felt off. Luke used Appraisal and then saw the same question marks he saw on the gorilla-like monster.
The monster dashed toward Billy and the cloaked figure, but Billy pushed himself and the weird figure to the side and dodged the strike. However, he could tell that he wouldn’t get lucky next time when he saw the small crater that the monster created.
“Luke, that person is… from another world,” Rina said.
While that was surprising, Luke didn’t know what he should do with that information. The entire operation was a lie, it became obvious and they hurried to rescue that person, but it didn’t matter right now. The monster was too strong and he didn’t want to die trying to protect someone he didn’t know. As if that person could see what Luke was thinking, they raised their right hand toward him… it was a small hand… the hand of a child.
“Aww… come one… what do you expect me to do in this situation?” Luke wondered while clenching his teeth.
Luke didn’t want to act hero-like, he wasn’t that good of a person, he didn’t even know how he was classified as neutral being that egoistic. Still, when he saw the monster preparing to attack, he used Stinger and approached instantly. The enemy turned around at the last moment, and grabbed Luke’s sword, stopping the attack. He did the right thing, otherwise, the sword would have pierced its nape.
The monster prepared a kick and Billy decided to escape with the cloaked figure, but before either of that could happen, the cloaked figure fired two light blue balls toward Rina and Shalia. In the next moment, Luke’s shoulders got heavier… because both of them returned to their normal size.
“What…” Rina said, shocked. “How?”
“It doesn’t matter how,” Shalia smiled viciously. “I have been waiting for this.”
Shalia touched the ground and then a tall earth pillar appeared below the monster and raised him upward instantly for hundreds of kilometers. That should give them a few extra seconds to prepare for the fight. Maybe now they have a chance…
“I am going to borrow this,” Rina said and then grabbed Luke’s boomerangs.
When the monster began to fall, Luke stepped backward and then Rina threw the boomerangs to the sides, they flew in a wide arch before approaching the monster’s neck, the monster tried to grab it, but Luke stepped forward and then swung his Blade toward the monster’s head. The creature grabbed it with just a single-arm, but regretted it when the sword pierced his hand quite a bit. The monster stepped backward to dodge the boomerangs, but in the last moment, they gained a boost in speed and still managed to scratch the cheeks of the creature.
The beast seemed possessed while it was sensing some blood flowing down its face and prepared to dash toward those three in front of them. However, the ground below him suddenly turned ice and a thick layer of ice stopped its movements.
“Go now!” Shalia said. “I will stop him from moving!”
