Chapter 183: Again (3)

Luke frowned when he heard that… they weren't that far away from each other, so if a battle had happened, the people in his camp would have noticed. Luke didn't see Artiuno outside, so his father probably left while riding her. It would be hard to see them if they fly high in the sky, but…

"I suppose going alone would make Artiuno fly faster… when that happened?" Luke asked. "They didn't leave anything behind?"

"We noticed that two days ago and we found the traces of their things on the ground, but as if they had beamed up, they vanished," Julia explained. "I am worried about Billy and his family."

Billy's family deserved some worry, but not Billy, or so Luke thought. Regardless, Luke doubted that Frank would do something to them since Billy was that loyal, to the point of hiding things and causing trouble to those who considered him real friends. However, the same thing still could be said if Frank obtained the power of the red crystal? Those who had that can freely create some types of creatures, the only cost was some mana and a sample of the creature, apparently.

"When dad left?" Luke asked.

"Half an hour ago, he said that he would return in one hour or two," Julia said.

"Is that so…" Luke said. "Did you guys have seen or heard of something similar happening?"

"No… but it is hard to compare anything since your planet is weird… many things are happening a lot faster than mine," Rina replied.

"I can say the same thing," Shalia nodded. "While I think it would be weird, maybe that guy obtained a moving fortress. Who knows what secrets that hooded figure is keeping."

Luke couldn't agree more… Speaking of moving fortress, Luke wondered if he would gain one any time soon. Of the special rewards, the upgrade crystal is probably one of the least rare. A crystal that can connect worlds and the red one must belong to the next tier. Still, what kind of quest would be necessary to get one of those? Luke couldn't imagine anything harder than defeating an overlord.

"You should say hello to your friends while you are here, you are going to leave soon, right?" Julia asked.

"That kind of stuff is too troublesome," Luke said. "And yes, I will just wait for Dad."

In the end, Luke decided to spend his time at home doing his daily meditation and sacrificing some of his HP and SP. As for Mark, he only appeared after three hours.

"You are late," Luke said.

"One hour late… and you are four days late," Mark said. "You seem fine, but even though your equipment looks new, it is also pretty beaten down. Having a hard time in the elves world."

"More or less, what did you learn with your investigation?" Luke asked.

"Smooth way to change the subject… I got nothing," Mark said while he massaged his eyebrows. "I didn't find any clues there. There isn't any signs of the airplane taking off recently either and even if it had, it didn't have enough room to transport so many people and the things that they had."

"Hmm… as long as they don't cause problems, then we don't need to worry about them," Luke said. "He did some reckless things in the beginning, but do you think that they might do something that might cause problems to humanity as a whole?"

"… It is hard to say," Mark said after thinking for a short while. "Humans can obtain power without any logic now. Most of us don't have to answer to anyone and we are free to do pretty much whatever we want… the old Frank didn't seem that problematic, but he might try to do things that in his eyes will help the planet. If he thinks that he is right and his way is then only way, then he will probably do his best to get rid of all obstacles."

He looked like that type of man… still, keep speculating about things won't lead them to anywhere. It will only make them feel paranoid, so it was better to just wait and see for the time being.

"I will get going, I will try to return every three days, but don't think that something happened if I don't return in six or seven days," Luke said.

"You can transport yourself between worlds, if you can't return, then at least send some message," Mark said. "Your mother almost never let me sleep while she keeps asking about you."

"Your snoring bothers my sleep as well, so we are even," Julia said.

"Can we send inanimate objects?" Luke asked while looking at Rina.

"Yes, but the place and the cost will be the same," Rina said.

"It is like a really expensive private message… anyway, it is not like we need mana all the time," Luke said.

Luke looked for a notebook and then wrote a random message, and just to test that, he asked Rina to send the piece of paper to where they left the elves. After twenty minutes, they returned to that world and found the elves looking at the piece of paper with dubious eyes.

"I guess it works…" Luke said. "While we think about our next steps, let's send a message to them informing them that I will only send a message once a day."

"You can do that more often," Rina said.

"Once per day is fine, it is better to keep a routine, otherwise, mom will stay for messages during the entire day," Luke explained. "If we send it around the same time everyday, then we can avoid that problem. Oddly enough, it seems that the days here aren't longer or shorter and the time is also paralleled to Earth."

By sending messages, Luke even might have solved the need to return home and show his face, or so he thought at first.. His parents couldn't send a message to this side, so he had to go there to hear about the news on their end.
