Chapter 102

Feeling as if she was sleeping right next to a raging fireplace, Larissa couldn’t sleep well the entire night. Kevan stopped having nightmares, but he breathed a little heavily–maybe he had a stully nose. It rained on the mountain that night but it wasn’t heavy. The raindrops pattered against the transparent glass ceiling, and Larissa couldn’t sleep from the noise.

She stared up at the sky absent–mindedly. The stars were obscured by the rain and she could only see their faint light Later on, the rain tumed to snow. The glass slowly became covered up with a sheet of white until not a single glint of light could shine through. Enveloped in darkness, Larissa lost track of time. By the time Kevan woke up and she was finally freed, it was already 9 am

Kevan was slightly confused when the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was Larissa’s face. He stared at her blankly. However, Larissa acted as if nothing had happened and pushed his arms away calmly. She took the thermometer from the headboard and said, Let’s check your temperature.”

After sweating through the night Kevan was dehydrated. His throat was very hoarse and his voice sounded much deeper than usual. “You slept here the entire night?” he asked.

Larissa nodded and put the thermometer under his armpit. She explained mildly. “You were having a nightmare and mistook me for someone else. You hugged me without letting go.”

Kevan said nothing. He always had the same dream and could even narrate the storyline perfectly from the start till the end. He had mistaken her for someone else? Perhaps so.

“Are you hungry? Do you feel like eating?” asked Larissa.

Kevan was feeling a lot better than he had the previous night and hunger gnawed at his stomach. “I’m hungry,” he said.

Larissa called the kitchen and said, “Bring two bowls of porridge up here.”

Confused. Kevan asked. “Two bowls?”

“Yup. I’m hungry too.”

“I thought you didn’t like porridge?” Kevan said abruptly.

Larissa asked with surprise, ‘How do you know that I don’t like porridge? She had always preferred savory food and disliked bland food like porridge. Even so, she wasn’t a picky eater, so not many people knew her favorites. Including Travis. She had only eaten with Kevan a few times and nobody had ordered porridge before.

Kevan realized that he had made a slip of the tongue. He was annoyed with himself, but he did not let it show. “It was just a guess. So. was I right?” he said with raised eyebrows.

“No,” said Larissa intentionally. She had ordered porridge for his sake because she felt awkward eating something tastier in front of him because he would feel left out. However, she couldn’t tell him the truth.

Kevan’s good mood plummeted. He still remembered the time she had scrunched up her nose and pushed the bowl of porridge far away. saying with displeasure. “I hate porridge! If it weren’t for you. I wouldn’t have spent the whole morning preparing it!” Had — her preferences changed? It seemed like she had slipped further away from him again.

Larissa sensed his sudden low spirits, but she thought he was just upset because he had guessed her preferences wrongly. She retrieved the thermometer and said. “37.2 degrees. Your lever will be gone soon.”

Kevan said with a frown, “I’m going to take a shower.”

Larissa didn’t stop him. He had already pushed himself to the limit by going without a shower till then when he was such a clean freak Besides, there was floor heating in the room, so she wasn’t worried about him catching another cold.
