Chapter 231 - 231 Chapter 231
Chapter 231 - 231 Chapter 231
231 Chapter 23As they walked, Euric told Aurora the tales of ancient Maldonia and how it looked. Aurora didn’t expect the city to be so colorful and beautiful, the streets were covered with smell of spices and everyone was well dressed. “It’s so colorful” she finally said while chuckling.
“We Morrows are colorful people dear child, that’s why the outsiders envied us. They envied our tradition, our food and our colors”
“What do you mean by outsiders?” asked Aurora.
Euric paused and turned to Aurora, “You are here for answers, aren’t you? Your dragon died and you want to know why?”
“Actually, I want to know how. Artodo was one of the strongest dragons I ever had, a spear wouldn’t put him down. How did they do it?”
Euric exhaled, then he didn’t say anything, he kept on walking as Aurora followed him behind.
“Do you know how did they do it?” asked Aurora trying to keep up with Euric.
“I’m dead dear child, I don’t know what’s happening in the land of the living”
“Then how did you know that my dragon died?”
.....
“Because it’s all over your face, the sadness and worrying. Only a loss can cause that...”
They kept on walking around the streets of old Dark Town until they arrived at the main palace. Now this is when Aurora’s eyes widened with amazement, she let out a sigh, “Wow!” she said not knowing how to react. The same palace which in her world was just ruins and burned walls turned black, here it was a huge building almost ten stories upwards and painted in yellow, white, and other numerous colors.
“Is this the Morrow palace?” she asked with excitement.
“Yes, this is our house. All kings and queens and royal members have lived here for generations. Our house used to be the most powerful in the whole world, we controlled every kingdom, every city and every living creature. They all answered to us...” Euric said and then he proceeded inside the palace.
It’s like the guards couldn’t see neither Euric nor Aurora, they didn’t bother to check them or ask them out when they passed through. Aurora was suspicious, “They can’t see us, can they?” she asked.
“During this time no one even knew I would exist, my great grandfather wasn’t born yet. This is the time when Alienor Morrow ruled” said Euric leading the way, then he finished with, “Three hundred years before I was born”
The shock on Aurora’s face couldn’t be contained. The spell which was meant to lure Euric Morrow suddenly turned into a time traveling spell and sent her one thousand years ago to the very first Dragon King — Alienor Morrow.
Alienor Morrow came from a place where Aurora had no idea where it was with his whole tribe, the Morrows. All of them had dragons and that day when Alienor Morrow arrived in Maldonia, it is said the king of Maldonia during that time trembled at the sight of the dragons and their flames. He gave up the crown to Alienor without resistance, it was either that or he burns, the King chose the former.
Hence that’s when Alienor Morrow stayed with his tribe in Dark Town and he renovated the town into what he desired, some say two hundred Morrows arrived in Maldonia for the very first time, hence that means two hundred dragons came to Maldonia for the first time. However, there are no chronicles as to what was Alienor Morrow and his tribe running from.
They had two hundred dragons, an enormous amount of power in the palm of their hands, yet they still escaped whatever they came from. What were they scared of?
“Where did Alienor Morrow come from?” asked Aurora after a whole two minutes of silence just thinking and walking.
“I never knew about that, but he and the tribe escaped the Dragon Hunters. Alienor wasn’t of royal blood, he was once a servant in the palace of his King. But the King was murdered and his entire family, alongside their dragons. Then the Dragon Hunters started killing dragons in numbers, our kingdom which had thousands of dragons started to suddenly decline and losing the war. Hence Alienor saved the last dragons and the whole tribe of Morrows by leaving our homelands” said Euric, then he paused.
They kept on going inside the palace and Aurora, as usual she couldn’t help but gawk at everything she was seeing. The female servants wore uniforms — red dresses with yellow scarfs. The guards wore white tunics with swords attached to their waists. When Aurora asked why didn’t they have armors, Euric told her during this time armory uniforms weren’t invented yet. After all, it was one thousand years ago.
“You mentioned Dragon Hunters... What did they use to kill dragons in such large number? Our dragons are powerful, aren’t these hunters humans?” she asked.
“They are humans, but no dragon can survive the tears of the fire” this time Euric turned back and stared at Aurora. “Your dragon died because the spear was laced with tears of the fire poison, this could only mean one thing. They are back!” he said locking eyes with Aurora.
“The Dragon Hunters?”
“Yes, the same hunters who doomed my reign and killed everything I held dear. It was I who left the three eggs for you, I heard so much about the mighty seer who will awake the age of dragons, one thousand years later and here you are...”
Still Aurora was stunned by everything that Euric was telling her. They went on to talk about these hunters and this deadly portion for dragons, “the tears of the fire” as it was famously known.
But while they were immersed in their deep conversation, Aurora had no idea that two days had passed ever since she performed the spell and now Visera and Lord Spider were worried about her.
“She’s still breathing, I think that’s a good sign” said Lord Spider, he and Visera sat right there just close to the triangle for two days straight and he was already exhausted. All he needed was a good sleep and maybe some bath.
However bath and food were the last thing on Visera’s mind during that moment, she was worried sick about her granddaughter and even through there was food, she wouldn’t even be able to eat because she was so stressed.
“Something is not right, it shouldn’t take this long” said Visera checking on Aurora outside of the triangle, she was scared of stepping inside the triangle for fear of breaking the spell.
“It shouldn’t? Have you tried the spell before?” The Lord Spider was concerned.
“No, but it should...”
Visera stuttered and she couldn’t fandom the words out of her mouth. The spell was dangerous, that she knew better but it shouldn’t take that long and cause Aurora to be unconscious.
“I’m going to break the triangle, I need...” She looked around, to find nothing. “I need water and some... ointment” she said to Lord Spider.
“Ointment? Why in the hell would you need an ointment for?”
“Just get me the things Spider” Visera blurted out, in an angry tone.
The imp looked at Visera and walked away with his stunted legs without looking back. He was pissed off by how Visera was acting up, and the way she was ordering him around like he was a child. “I may be little, but I’m not your child” he said as he walked away.
Just as Lord Spider walked away, Aurora suddenly woke up from what seemed like a deep sleep. She shrugged herself off and sat around the triangle, Visera let out a sigh.
“How many hours was I out?” asked Aurora.
“Hours! Child you’ve been out for two days. You had me worried sick” said Visera.
“Two days?” Aurora was stunned, then she felt that knot in her stomach and she realized she was hungry. “Is there anything to eat?”
Visera sighed of relief and smiled. When Lord Spider came back with water and a bottle full of ointment while complaining, he suddenly paused when he saw Aurora awake and looking good.
“Oh, you are awake! Thank the spirits... or the ghosts... or whatever” Lord Spider was always full of sarcasm. Visera and Aurora laughed at his sarcasm.
Aurora turned to her grandmother with a smile, “I saw Maldonia, our ancient city and it was colorful and beautiful. Everything was green, the fruits were ripe and smelling so good. It was a beautiful land, and I saw dragons too” she said and seemed to have a lot to say about the place she’s been at for two days straight.
But, the tales of old Dark Town and Morrows and dragons could wait. Visera had only one question in her head, “Did you see Euric Morrow?” and she asked with hopes of getting good news.
Aurora nodded her head and then she went on to tell everything that Euric told her. The dragon deadly portion, “the tears of the fire” and how the Dragon Hunters used this portion to kill dragons one by one. There were once one thousand dragons all over the world, but they were reduced in number by the Dragon Hunters.
