Chapter 121 The Wealthiest
Chapter 121 The Wealthiest
The manager was trying to make sure that Zayn would meet his end during the next Colosseum Challenge.
He used the Artifact of the God's Era museum as bait while restricting him from continuously betting for his own victory.
After all, if Zayn won another bet with a high multiplicator it would ruin the Colosseum's business. Betting on an Artifact was much more secure, especially with the increased danger Manager Tilan had proposed. Manager Tilan was 100% certain that Zayn wouldn't be able to escape the next battle alive.
Of course, Zayn had been hoping to fight the Chimera. It was his plan from the beginning!
Manager Tilan didn't even know that he fell right into Zayn's trap, but he could continue being oblivious.
"The crippled Chimera?" Zayn enquired, continuing to fake his confusion.
"Exactly, the crippled Chimera would be your next opponent!" Manager Tilan answered, smiling gently at Zayn.
"If you do that, you might as well hand over the keys to your treasure vault immediately," Zayn laughed arrogantly before nodding once, "but okay, if you want me to face the crippled Chimera, I can do that, no problem!"
He was trying to make it seem as if he didn't think too highly of the crippled Chimera. It should look like he was underestimating the strength of the next opponent in order to give Manager Tilan false information.
Zayn didn't want to make it seem as if he was overjoyed to face the crippled Chimera, but his reaction was supposed to convey that he was thankful and relieved at the prospect of facing a crippled beast rather than a 'truly powerful' opponent. His arrogance should be sensed by Manager Tilan, whose lips curled upward.
"That's great. In a week, your las–...I mean, the third challenge will be held. Prepare yourself!" Manager Tilan informed Zayn.
At this moment, the young man who had been in the treasure vault to get Zayn's reward returned. He was carrying a heavy pouch that crashed hard on the wooden counter as he put it down.
"Looks like my money arrived. I will leave now. See you in a week," Zayn said while turning around, "you can already polish the Artifacts for when I come and take my pick!"
He took a last jab at Manager Tilan. It worked out much better than expected, and Zayn felt satisfied with himself. His eyes were glowing exhilarated because he had just made a huge leap toward his goal.
The last thing he had to do in Zerek was to kill the crippled Chimera. After that, he would complete his second Soulring, advance to the Soul Knight rank, and leave the city.
However, now that he was about to obtain a vast fortune of gold and silver, Zayn might as well change his plans a little. He could step up his game!
While Zayn approached the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria with a bright expression, Manager Tilan was gritting his teeth. He stared at Zayn with nothing but pure hatred.
Manager Tilan had never felt that much hate for anyone and he wanted to see nothing more than the dead body of the Normie in front of him. It didn't matter that Zayn was only 14-years-old, or that he was actually quite powerful, or that he had grossly underestimated the kid. Manager Tilan just wanted to see this youth die.
The thought of the crippled Chimera ending Zayn's life in the worst possible way was something that calmed his nerves a little. It allowed him to come up with a great plan to make sure that the Colosseum would make the highest profit in history.
'I should make sure that everyone thinks the Challenger will win the third challenge as well…that way, nobody will win their bet when this Normie dies miserably facing the Chimera!!'
Manager Tilan was laughing in his head at the thought of the fortune the Colosseum would earn. Zayn was bound to die during the third Colosseum challenge as well. The entire situation was simply too great. He could solve multiple problems with a single event of actions and also get rid of the puny Normie.
This was the best he could think of, and he was proud of his own devious mind.
'I am a genius!'
Zayn smiled at the young man who had struggled to carry the heavy pouch with immense value inside, while Manager Tilan was getting ahead of himself.
"You did great. Thanks a lot," He said while handing over the ticket that verified his bet.
Because he had bet on his own victory within 60 seconds with a fortune of 96 gold coins, 6 silver coins, and 50 copper coins, Zayn was about to receive a humongous fortune.
"No problem," the young man replied while eyeing Manager Tilan who was still standing a bit farther away from the Colosseum's Gambling Ceasaria. "It was quite enjoyable to see the manager's facade crumbling. That has never happened in public until now."
Zayn smiled when he heard this. He signed the form the young man handed him after using his soul particles to scan the inside of the pouch.
"Because this is your second Challenge, the Challenger reward is one gold thaler," The young man explained even before Zayn could ask.
"As for Sir's bet, you will be able to find an additional 537 gold thaler, 9 gold coins, and 64 silver coins!"
A shudder swept throughout Zayn's entire body and goosebumps erupted on his skin the moment he heard how much money he actually won from his bets.
His entire fortune was close to 5400 gold coins now. That was enough to build a small town or dozens of decent-quality Artifacts at the Soul Knight rank!
He swallowed his saliva, reached out for the pouch, and stored it entirely inside his expanding pouch.
His heart made a leap and he smiled at the young man.
"Have a nice evening!" Zayn said, leaving the Colosseum without much further ado.
Even though he was happy about the money he had just earned, there were a few more things he had to do.
Time was of the essence, and Zayn was not someone who was willing to waste his time needlessly!
