Chapter 128 Ablaze

Chapter 128 Ablaze

'Fuck you, Merlin…you said its leg was crippled!!'

The moment the Chimera shot forward, Zayn could instinctively tell that the monster was much faster than he was. There didn't seem to be any problem with its right front leg either. The Chimera could easily run at its full speed, which was completely contrary to Merlin and Zayn's expectations.

Both had been certain that the crippled Chimera's speed would be much slower. That only made sense after it legs had nearly been severed. Merlin also witnessed many of the Chimera's fights after it had been brought to the Colosseum. According to his report, the Chimera was only a tad faster than Zayn.

But that was utter nonsense!

'If that's only a tad faster than my full speed, then I am your mother, Merlin!!' Zayn shouted in his mind, releasing a burst of soul particles through his legs to jump to the side as both a stream of liquid acid and thick mist were shot toward him. The mist was eerily fast, shrouding Zayn in an instant. The Lion-head of the Chimera lunged through the mist while the acid shot to Zayn's right, preventing him from evading the attack.

Zayn jumped to the left where he was greeted by the Chimera's right head. The goat-head bleaked loudly and released a flare of blazing flames.

The flames ignited the thick mist as it continued to spread out.

Zayn was set ablaze and silence commenced through the entire Colosseum. Only a handful of spectators cheered as they bet on the Chimera's win. As for everyone else, they bet on the Challenger's victory. They turned silent and stared down at the arena with a blank expressions.

They didn't care that Zayn had been set ablaze, but that it looked like their money had been burned to a cinder as well.

At this moment, a figure shot out of the burning mist at the speed of a bullet train. It was Zayn, unscathed and full of vigor!

The cowl of his cloak had moved up. It covered his hair to make sure that he wouldn't suddenly turn into Hellrider. Zayn changed his trajectory in an instant. As the Chimera released its long-range attacks, its movement slowed down. It was about to stand still when Zayn emerged from within the burning mist.

He felt warm but was mostly unscathed, and changed his trajectory to charge straight at the goat-head, ignoring the flames that were spit at him once again.

The flames were searing hot but his cloak absorbed most of the heat, just like it was supposed to do. He paid a whooping price of 500 gold coins for this cloak. That was the price he would have to pay for an Artifact…and the Pikur Salamander Cloak was certainly not an Artifact.

The only trait of the Pikur Salamander Cloak was to absorb the heat in the surrounding upon being activated. Zayn was not too sure how the Pikur Salamander Cloak had been manufactured but he could tell that it worked. Most of the heat in his surrounding was greedily absorbed through the cloak.

That way, he didn't have to be as afraid of the blazing flames the Chimera could spit out.

His face was still getting burned a little but Zayn ignored the pain. He used the pain as fuel to exhibit more strength in his right arm as he cleaved down, cutting deep into the flesh of the goat head with the right Dragontale Twin Saber. The Soulblade had been activated, covering the blade of the Dragontale Twin Saber fully.

However, that was not everything Zany did. He unleashed as much power of the Dragontale Twin Sabers as possible by inserting close to a quarter of his entire soul particles into it. The freezing trait of the Dragontale Twin Saber was triggered and it came into effect the moment the saber cut into the flesh of the goat-head that had already been injured by Merlin.

Merlin had nearly severed the head of the goat in the past. Thus, Zayn wanted to finish what Merlin hadn't been able to do. His weapon was much sharper and stronger than the weapon Merlin had used, and his teacher had already created a path with the injury. The Goat might have healed a little, but the pathway should still be there, and easier to cut than an area of the Chimera's body that had never been injured.

However, Zayn quickly noticed that the Chimera's flesh was much tougher than expected. He could inflict a deep gash that caused a fountain of blood to spurt out of the neck of the goat head but he couldn't sever the head completely.

The area around the gash he inflicted froze almost immediately. That provided a great advantage as the goat's head wouldn't be able to move and react as fast as before. Almost half of the goat's neck was frozen while the blood kept pouring out of the wound.

This was a great achievement, though it was not as good as it would have been to cut off one of the Chimera's heads.

However, Zayn wasn't given any time to complain either. The serpent tail lunged out from the back all of a sudden. It shot across his right arm and reached his shoulder just a moment later. The fangs of the serpent were just about to dig deep into Zayn's shoulder, spreading its lethal poison when the fangs came to a halt merely a centimeter away from his body.

Zayn had pierced the left Dragontale Twin Saber to the right, nearly cutting himself in order to block the serpent's attack.

He had been too slow nonetheless. If not for the eerie sharpness of the Dragontale Twin Sabers and the freezing trait that came into effect as the Dragontale Twin Saber in his left hand cut through the tail of the Chimera, it wouldn't have frozen and cut off.

The tail of the Chimera was one of the least protected body parts, and it had been destroyed by Zayn, who had twisted the blade under the tremendous force of the serpentine fangs that would have killed him if he had just been a quarter of a second too late.

He was only left with half of his soul particles….but he was still alive!

As for the Chimera, it was enraged, the goat-head was injured once again and its tail had been cut off, just like that.

Nonetheless, things didn't look nice for Zayn!

He had a very bad feeling.
