Chapter 48 Advice, Warning, Threat
Chapter 48 Advice, Warning, Threat
?Zayn heard a few things about the aftermath of the bloody bar fight which he had caused one way or another and the things he heard made him uncomfortable.
This discomfort was not because every single drunk Blessed was crippled or severely punished because of his doing, but rather that nobody was punished in any way.
Basically, there weren't any consequences for anyone and all were left without even a warning even though dozens of Blessed had beaten up three people until they fell unconscious while three other Blessed died mysteriously.
The unconscious Blessed had yet to regain their consciousness while Phillip, Jens, and the other Blessed were obviously very much dead.
It was a great surprise and quite shocking that nobody was punished for anything after the incident in the Adventurer Inn, however, that was not the worst.
The Innkeeper, his wife, and Sarah disappeared not even half a day after they had been interrogated to find out more about the bar fight that had ended in a disaster.
They disappeared just like that, leaving behind the now utterly destructed and demolished Inn and various questions that flashed through Zayn's mind for quite a while.
He felt a little bit disturbed since he thought that it was his fault for making them leave, but that was only one of his smaller worries since the worst was scribbled on the piece of paper that had been attached to the business card where two words in bold and clear letters were engraved.
[Silverheart Legion] were the words written on the business card. Zayn had heard about the Silverheart Legion, which was one of the central region's strongest legions but he never really paid those things much attention. He was pretty sure that he would never meet anyone even remotely related to the central region's Legions, either way.
Apparently, that couldn't be further from the truth.
[Even though you achieved your goal in the bar, you shouldn't act too arrogant from now on. There will always be someone stronger than you lurking around you… Don't even think that your actions went unnoticed! The life of a Normie is hard that is for sure, but you shouldn't have used every Blessed just because of that hardship.
I hope that you will solve your future problems without dragging others in your mess…
–The Assassin Legatus–]
"What is the meaning of that?" Zayn wondered, goosebumps spreading all over his body. He was not exactly sure whether the letter was actually a threat, a warning, or advice.
No matter how often he read through it, the letter felt as if it was a mixture of a warning, a piece of advice, and an actual threat. That was more than enough for goosebumps to spread all over his body and his expression to stiffen.
'So someone is following me? Or was that a mere coincidence and I was just seen when I attacked Phillip and the others?' Zayn wondered but that caused only more questions to surface.
'...but then why would I be given the Silverheart Legion's business card…and why didn't this person rat me out for killing three Blessed in the Adventurer Inn?'
'If that person is truly following me, he or she should have seen the Human Spirits by now as well…why didn't they apprehend me already if I'm being followed? Was that also just a bluff?'
Too many questions emerged in his head and Zayn was far from finding an answer to even a single one of those questions. He figured that more and more questions would torment him the longer he thought about the business card, the 'Assassin Legatus', or anything related to the Adventurer Inn.
In the end, he didn't regret his actions which was all that mattered to him. He knew that it had been a necessity to kill Phillip and his people to prevent more innocent people from dying. His actions might have been wrong but the final result was certainly pleasant to the eye.
Zayn took that into consideration and ended up shrugging his shoulders.
His Soulring was already more than 20% filled after he used the soul particles he had obtained from Paul, Jens, and the other Blessed who had nearly finished their respective first Soulring as well.
Zayn's strength increased drastically thanks to the soul particles he had absorbed, and the change in power was enough to steer his future plans in a proper direction.
Now that he had an expanding pouch, he could easily hide the weapons of his Human Spirits, in addition to carrying around much more stuff than before.
That was also why he could leave the small town for good. Nothing held him back from abandoning the town, with the sole problem being the Undeads in the Undead Caves. They would have to be taken care of sooner or later…but not by Zayn!
He was pretty sure that he did more than enough by punishing some of those who were responsible for the trouble revolving around the Undead Caves.
Thus, he left the town with the intention to move away from the Undead Caves as far as possible.
Nobody noticed that he left, let alone that two human-like figures appeared around him once he was in the midst of the wilderness. The Two Sparrow Spirits, the Herculean Human Spirit, and the Agile Human Spirit emerged from the Grimoire of the Ancient after leaving human settlement.
Zayn handed the Agile Human Spirit the two karambit knuckles in addition to their scabbards before he retrieved the large iron mace and the iron shield from his expanding pouch. He handed them to the Herculean Human Spirit who issued a wide variety of attacks upon an imaginary opponent.
Zayn observed the Herculean Human Spirit before he tapped its back lightly.
"Let's go, we have many things to do!" He ordered while taking another look inside his expandable pouch.
A bunch of black bandages fell into his hand and he sighed lightly.
'I hope I didn't buy this shit for no reason…' Zayn grumbled inwardly, ignoring that almost his entire remaining fortune had been wasted on procuring the tens of meters long black bandages.
Once he was done grumbling, Zayn and his small cohort of Spirits continued their journey through the wilderness. The Sparrow Spirits spread out, searching for monsters to hunt, and it was not too long before they encountered some.
However, against his expectations, the Sparrow Spirits actually encountered two groups of more than twenty Undead Goblins.
Both Sparrows shared their memories with Zayn, who couldn't help but squint his eyes as his head turned around wildly to locate the Undead that was lurking in the distance.
'So I really have to deal with them? Though…as long as they're only Goblins Skeletons or other weak Undead, there shouldn't be a reason to worry…'
Unfortunately, it was not much later when he heard the Sparrow Spirits above him chirping loudly as they looked straight ahead at them.
One of the Sparrows dove down to him to show him that an even bigger group of Goblin Skeletons were a bit farther ahead.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Zayn blurted out, his voice riddled with frustration.
He had planned to leave the town to avoid the Undead, not to run into them like an idiot.
'Well, it's not like I can change anything about that either way…As long as it's only the Goblin Skeletons, it doesn't make a difference whether they're twenty, fifty, or even a hundred of them!' Zayn calmed himself after a moment.
He sent both Human Spirits to charge ahead before he followed suit.
The Goblin Skeletons were much weaker than the two Human Spirits, let alone Zayn whose strength had increased drastically.
Even the fire needles should be enough to end the Goblin Skeletons as long as the Sparrow Spirits aimed them precisely.
Filled with confidence, Zayn and his Spirits charged ahead, ready to face the dozens of Undead at the same time.
Meanwhile, three figures clad in silver armor were standing on a cloud, watching the scene below with interest.
"Didn't I tell you guys that he is interesting?"
