Chapter 50  A Father's Playful Proposal

After a drive of more than 10 minutes, Long Tian and Liu Qian arrived in the Tianji district.

The place exuded an air of opulence, nestled away from the main roads, with its impressive houses expanse and luxurious.

Navigating the cobblestone pathway, they reached a front gate, an entryway to a lavish residence. From the outside, the house radiated grandeur and magnificence – none other than Liu Qian's home.

A burly middle-aged security guard approached Long Tian's car. The window rolled down, and Liu Qian promptly instructed, "It's me, please open the gate."

"Certainly, Miss," the guard nodded, swiftly unlatching the gate.

With that, Long Tian maneuvered his car into the premises and parked it before the residence.

As they stepped out of the vehicle, Long Tian couldn't help but be struck by the scene. The size of Liu Qian's house surpassed expectations, and the surroundings emitted a tranquil vibe, with abundant greenery framing the property.

"It's been a long time since I last set foot here. I remember our days during elementary school, playing around this place. Back then, my mom and yours were inseparable," Long Tian recalled with a hint of nostalgia in his voice.

"I even have some old photos of us as kids. Want to see them?" Liu Qian offered with a smile.

"No way, you actually have those?" Long Tian was surprised.

"Yes, let's head inside," Liu Qian said.

As they approached the front door, a voice suddenly pierced the air, "Cough, it seems we have visitors."

Turning their attention, Long Tian and Liu Qian spotted a middle-aged man holding a watering can, approaching them.

"Father, I was just about to find you inside," Liu Qian said.

"I'm just watering the flowers. So, how was your first day back at school after your overseas trip?" the middle-aged man inquired, a gentle smile gracing his features.

"It's been wonderful. Many people congratulated me. Anyway, father, this is Long Tian. Do you recall him?" Liu Qian asked, gesturing towards Long Tian.

"Hello, Mr. Liu, it's been a while," Long Tian greeted.

"Long Tian?" Liu Hai stroked his chin, deep in thought.

"Long Zhan's son," Long Tian clarified.

Recognition dawned on Liu Hai, "Oh, you're that Long Tian? It's been quite some time since I last saw you. The last time I laid eyes on you, you were just a child, and now you're all grown up," he remarked, patting Long Tian's shoulder with a smile on his face.

"I've grown rather well," Long Tian responded, returning the smile.

Liu Hai nodded, his smile genuine. He still held clear memories of Long Tian – the little boy who used to visit frequently.

"By the way, you're both in the same uniform. Does that mean you're attending the same school?" Liu Hai queried.

"Yes, Liu Qian and I are both students at Tianzhou High School," Long Tian answered.

"Good to hear. So, what's the nature of your relationship? Are you two dating?" Liu Hai asked, curiosity lacing his voice.

"No, Uncle Liu, we're not dating," Long Tian shook his head.

"That's right. What are you talking about, Dad? We're just friends," Liu Qian chimed in.

"Well, that's a pity. If I may be honest, you both seem quite compatible – handsome and beautiful, both talented. I would approve of a relationship between you two instantly," Liu Hai remarked, a tinge of disappointment in his tone.

Liu Qian blushed, "Dad, come on, don't talk about that. Long Tian needs your assistance," she interjected.

"Oh, what's that?" Liu Hai inquired, intrigued.

"I have some materials to craft a potion, and I require the expertise of an alchemist. Liu Qian informed me that you're a master alchemist, Uncle Liu, which is why I'm here," Long Tian explained.

"So, you seek my assistance for this? I'd be glad to help, provided you're willing to marry my daughter," Liu Hai said, a playful smile tugging at his lips.

"Dad!" Liu Qian exclaimed, her cheeks flushing.

"Hahaha, just kidding. Of course, I'll lend a hand, Long Tian. You've come to the right person. Let's move inside," Liu Hai said, opening the door and leading them into the house.

Long Tian and Liu Qian followed behind. Liu Qian was still a bit embarrassed by her father's words.

"Forgive my father's enthusiasm; he can be quite spirited," Liu Qian said, her demeanor somewhat sheepish.

"No problem, Uncle Liu's joviality adds a unique charm. You're fortunate to have a father like him," Long Tian responded, a smile gracing his lips.

"Well, even though he enjoys jesting, he's truly a caring and attentive father," Liu Qian replied, her smile mirroring Long Tian's.

"Let's proceed," Long Tian said.

They followed Liu Hai into a spacious room. The space was adorned with various plants and herbal ingredients, but a conspicuous sight was a large cauldron positioned at the room's center.

"So, what do you want to make?" Liu Hai inquired.

"A potion. Here are the materials," Long Tian replied, take out the ingredients from his spatial ring.

Starlight Orchid nectar, moonshadow fern essence, divine elixir sand, dragon horn, and Tianzhou Spring Water were laid out on the table.

Liu Hai carefully assessed each material, his surprise palpable.

"This is... All of these materials are extremely rare and valuable. From where did you acquire them?" he asked, his astonishment seeping into his words.

"You may find it hard to believe, Uncle Liu, but I acquired all of these from a marketplace," Long Tian revealed.

"At the market? That's a funny joke, Long Tian. There's no way these could be found at a market. Even this divine elixir sand, I remember it can only be made using sacred desert sand under the scorching sun of the Gobi Desert," Liu Hai said.

"Long Tian isn't kidding, Dad. He really found these materials at the market. I was even with him at the time," Liu Qian added.

"What?" Liu Hai's surprise deepened upon hearing this. He held the divine elixir sand in his hand, still struggling to believe it was discovered at a marketplace.

"And, guess what, Dad? Long Tian purchased them for only 300 Yuan," Liu Qian inserted.

"Do you mean 300 million Yuan?" Liu Hai raised an eyebrow.

"No, Dad, just 300 Yuan," Liu Qian insisted earnestly.

"What?" Liu Hai's astonishment was undeniable upon learning this. He never doubted Liu Qian's words, considering the genuine expression on her face.

Such exceedingly rare and valuable materials, all amounting to just 300 Yuan...

"So, Uncle Liu, are you able to work with these materials?" Long Tian inquired.

"I'm not sure what might result, but I'm prepared to give my best shot," Liu Hai replied.

Long Tian nodded, "If you succeed, I'll pay you, Uncle Liu. Just name your price."

"No, let's not talk about payment. We're family, money isn't important. Besides, this might be a chance for me to enhance my alchemical skills by working with these super rare materials," Liu Hai said.

"Are you serious, Uncle Liu?" Long Tian inquired again.

"Well, if you're willing to marry my daughter. Any potion you want, no matter how many, I'll make them for you for free," Liu Hai said, smiling.

"I might consider it," Long Tian smiled back.

"Haha, that's great. Don't take too long to consider," Liu Hai laughed.

Liu Qian was truly embarrassed by her father's words. She was present here, yet her father spoke so openly with Long Tian.

"So, Uncle Liu, are you ready to start?" Long Tian inquired.

"Of course, I'll begin now. I need some privacy, so you two can step outside for a moment," Liu Hai said.

"Alright," Long Tian nodded.

With that, the two of them began to exit the room.

As they walked, Liu Qian pulled out her smartphone as it emitted a series of beeps. She glanced at her device, noticing numerous incoming message notifications.

And the sender: Ye Chen.
