Chapter 386 Spying 24/7
Meanwhile, the girls began discussing with lively voices their experiences in outer space. The experience was, after all, unique to them. They couldn't experience zero gravity other than in space.
I wanted to join in on their conversation too, but I'm too tired. The attack I used before, the [Heaven's Path] Sword Technique, is something that I learned from Death. It was an attack that poured as much energy into one strike, aiming to take the enemy's life in an instant.
"But the exhaustion afterward isn't a joke..."
Leaving the others, I went back to my room to rest. Of course, I double-checked whether there was anyone there, but fortunately, there was not even a single ant in the room. Although it was still early, I decided to sleep through the day.
---
Ember was left in the satellite alone.
Of course, she wasn't being idle but rather tapping away at the keyboard madly, adjusting parameters, and such. As the one who literally designed the system, she knows every nook and cranny of the program, making adjusting an easy task for her.
"As expected, the trajectory is slightly skewed. The constant that Master gave me needs a slight adjustment... Done."
Of course, it wasn't that Will remembered his physics constant wrongly, but rather because of the slight difference between Earth and this planet. Not only were their mass and diameter different, but even their distance to their parent star didn't match. Such small differences caused the trajectory to warp a little.
The next thing that Ember checked was the reason for putting up the satellite in the first place. After tapping a few keys, the display changed, showing the surface of the planet. It was different from Earth, commonly called the Blue Planet due to its surface being mostly covered in bodies of water.
This planet, on the other hand, had more land than bodies of water. Roughly 60% of its surface was land. And among those lands, about 90% were colored deep red to black.
"These must be the demon-infested areas."
After pressing some buttons a few times, the display color changed. It switched from visual data to energy signature data. Various colors appeared, showing the different energies flowing around.
As Ember expected, most lands were covered in demonic energy, or miasma, which was almost indistinguishable from shadow or dark energy. After she tapped the buttons again, the display changed once more. This time, it was showing the maximum energy concentration per area.
Both this and the previous view were developed with the help of Will's special eyes, which were able to see energy clearly. For this function, the colors vary from harmless white to yellow, red, and black, depending on the level. In this scale, white is for the 1st stage, yellow is around the 5th stage, red is for the 9th stage, and black is God-level.
And from the view of the entire continent, it was mostly black.
"..."
Ember was clueless about how many god-level demons were present on their planet, but seeing this image, she could at least create a basis now.
"No wonder humans, beasts, and monsters have so little land left to them."
It was a mystery why the god-level demons weren't attacking, however. If they decided to rally together and attack, Ember was sure that the world would become a sanctuary for demons sooner or later.
"That should be enough for checking."
Ember sighed, switching the display back to the normal camera. Testing the features and functions was completed, so she almost finished her checklist. Her last task was the most important, however, and that was to check the camera's quality to see if it could be used to spy against other kingdoms.
"Let's see..."
Ember zoomed the cameras to the limit. Of course, this "camera" isn't really based on lenses and such, but made out of Ember's clone. Its resolution is the same as her vision, meaning it has ultra-high resolution.
"Zooming," on the other hand, was done by shortening the distance between her camera's eyes and the surface through the use of portals. Thanks to this, Ember was able to see the ground perfectly.
Of course, there's a limit to the "zoom," up to the range barely detectable by other tamers or monsters. At most, she could only view them from 10 kilometers up in the air. But that was more than enough.
"Hmmm?"
Currently, the satellite is right above the Empire's capital. Due to the speed of the satellite almost matching the rotation of the planet, she could observe the Empire longer. However, what she saw made her raise her brows.
"Are they preparing for war as expected?"
In the capital, hundreds of thousands of tamers-cum-soldiers were gathered. They were, without a doubt, preparing to head into battle.
"It looks like Master's provocation worked wonders."
Ember couldn't help but chuckle, seeing that the tamers were all equipped with the guns she made herself. The weaker tamers were equipped with unfamiliar guns, but Ember could tell that it was a cheap knockoff of her creation with just a glance.
"From the speed of their preparation, I guess they would be ready for invasion in a week. I'd better tell this to Master later."
Ember turned to glance to her right side. There was nothing there, but to her eyes, she could see Will, who had just gone to bed, snoozing. A smile crossed her face as her expression softened.
"..."
However, she felt like it wasn't enough. With a snap, she magically stowed Will's shirt into her [Spatial Storage] without letting him notice. Will, topless, scratched his abs as he suddenly felt cold.
"Ahh, Master..."
Ember's hand moved down as she bit her lip. And soon enough, sticky sounds began to echo in the empty satellite. It was then followed by her heavy breathing, before a sickeningly sweet smell spread through the inside of her suit.
Although she wanted to go to Will's side at that instant, she held back. After all, Will was already tired... as always.
After a while, Ember vanished from the satellite's interior. Where she went and what she did there, only she knew.
