Temporal Pearls

Chapter 91: Fainting

Chapter 91: Fainting

Sling!

The cabin opened and Seth sat with a lingering smile on his face. At least today he has achieved something and can leave the forest anytime.

Seth then went to prepare for Manuella's lessons, after that he was called by his father.

"I heard what happened yesterday!" He said, "Are you good? Do you feel any discomfort in your body?"

"No. I'm fine!" Seth said with a frown.

"Good to hear… that is the real-world Seth! The Ranking System wasn't there for show. It came with a lot of privileges that are apparent and some that are hidden."

Seth nodded to show he was keeping up.

"Class C and Class A were just like servants and masters. In some places, you have to bow and greet them whenever you saw them. Not only that, their words have more weight than yours. In Court 10 Class C citizens are required to attest to something against Class A citizens. And I'm saying this after Class C citizens have Class A backers too. This is what happened to Anna too!"

Seth wanted to ask something but he kept his mouth shut.

"You haven't travelled anywhere apart from school and the house of our relative. That's why you weren't exposed to this kind of treatment. What I'm trying to say is, be strong and be patient. It's a matter of time, soon you will leave the neighbourhood and go somewhere that will treat you well!"

Seth nodded and left his father's office. He understood that keeping his relationship with Lady Manuella was his only job now. The rest of the family was busy developing another business on Baronet Street. A large Grocery store, Boutique, and Tailoring Shop were opened there.

Since Baronet was a low-class area where most Class C and few Class B came to purchase there, they might not be attacked or controlled because it would be beneath any Class A to own a business in that place.

It was also the place where Jonathan, Seth's uncle, wanted Seth to bring his Workshop!

Seth drove his car to the Class A area, and just like that, at every junction, he was asked to give his identification paper before he was allowed to move forward. When he reached the gate of Silva Mansion, he also underwent some checkups before he was allowed in.

Deep down, Seth suppressed his anger and moved with the flow. As he parked, he came out with a bag that had all the needed items but then he heard. NovelFire-novel-source

"Is that a Pseudo-criminal or a terrorist suspect!?" A young female guest asked Sally's mother as she was about to enter her car while Seth was parking.

Seth wore long sleeves but due to movement, he wasn't able to keep the black bracelet cuffs hidden.

[Seth Enoch, Class C Citizen, a pseudo-criminal that is taking lessons in Silva Mansion.]

[Will you like to know more?"]

The girl assistant AI explained.

"No need!"

Seth ignored her and went straight to where the lesson was taking place. Lady Manuella was already lecturing. He sat on his designated spot. That meant he doesn't need to use his portable items. And the lesson continued as if nothing was wrong.

"Submit your assignments!"

And everyone scrambled and handed it over to her and she gave them to Shabbara to hold.

"Our first Course was all about curves and how they appeared in sketches, drawings and paintings. This Course is all about Colour. And the exam will combine the two courses. You need to work harder. We will have two more lessons before we move on but before that, this gift of mine will help you in the exam and also even after you managed to graduate!"

After saying that a trolley was pushed by Shabbar, inside was a stack of black rectangular thin boxes, and he began to hand them to everyone there.

On top of the box that seemed to be made of steel was the student name with the Lady Manuella logo and signature above.

Seth ran his hand over the name and then he heard a click.

"It's a Body Electrical Pulse Lock!" Luis exclaimed. Then the rest of the students began to murmur.

Security has reached a staggering height so also a hacking and unlocking mechanism. The most common security was a fingerprint which can be hacked by a high school student nowadays. Then the iris scanner is a bit hard to crack but it can be done by an expert. There were also other forms but BEPL as some people called it was the hardest to crack so far.

It wasn't because everyone's body electric pulses were unique but because it was the electric currents that were needed to have enough energy to unlock the lock. That was also the reason until today it can be used in large doors and or safe houses. Only on some small instrument that will not require too much energy.

"I heard that DuneTech has made a device that can harvest people's electric power in excess. Now some banks are using BEPL in high-security doors and chambers." Sarah said.

"Yeah, but it got corrupted easily. The Electrical Current changed its nature a few seconds after it left the human body. So, it was still not safe proof!" Zack said

While they discussed, Seth's attention was on the black box and he opened it slowly. A force field enveloped him and his gaze landed on 25 tiny glassy balls of colour. They are arranged in rows and placed in a tiny hall, making each one independent.

Seth nudged the white one and then he felt a strange scent strike his nose. It smelled like white sand or white clay. No, there was one white stone he came in contact with that can be grounded into a powder. History said some African cultures fed it to those that have nausea.

Gradually the smell dissipated. Seth stayed there in trance, the background noise dulled out and his vision filled with white. Two minutes later, Seth came back to normal. He was covered in sweat and his body felt weak. He quickly closed the box and his hand trembled as he took two pills of his medicine with water. And then closed his eyes trying to think of nothing.

What came to his mind at that moment was Nanncy.

"Thank God, this isn't the real world, I will have vomited my intestine!" Nanncy let out with a scowl.

Seth at that time was upset, he had spent an entire game day perfecting that painting but the first thing he got was a scolding! However, now he understood why…

Colours have their own scent!

"Memorise the 25 colour balls and their scents! You have 2 weeks for that and there will be no lessons till then. Know this, your exam starts now!" Lady Manuella said.

Seth has recovered a little and he found Shabbara staring at him like an owl, she had understood he had an epiphany. "You are a monster!" She said and that attracted everyone's attention.

"So are you!" Seth said with a weak smile. Even with the medicine, he felt weak and sleepy.

'Shit I can't move!' Seth lamented. He looked around, their eyes might not be on him now but he had this feeling they have their attention on him.

If he crawls to his car, it will be too much embarrassment atop what he had been through. His pride will truly take a blow but then his eyes landed on the white canvas and… at that moment his brain began to toil, trying to manifest what kind of scent the white canvas may contain.

"Oh God…" he muttered before his brain shut down and his body swayed to the side and fell.

Seth doesn't need to do physical activities to get tired. Intense emotions such as fear, anxiety, rage and even happiness can make him faint. So, also if he concentrated his mind intently on something, that deplete his body's energy the fasted

Seth opened his eyes with a dizzy head and felt himself on a soft bed. There was a light that blind him but gradually he was able to see normally.

"Ah, you are a mishmash of contradictions. Strong Mind and weak constitution. I pity you!" Shabbara's childish voice announced.

'This is the worst possible scenario I dreaded to happen!' Seth lamented. He tried to sit, but a soft voice said, "Please, don't force yourself!" He looked up, it was a nurse. Seth sighed and remained in place.

"I think he is alright now!" The nurse said after she examined him more. Seth sat and checked the time. He was out for only 15 minutes.

He was still in the hall on an air-filled bed. Manuella and her twins were at the side. The nurse was beside Seth. An elderly man with Sally stood to the side.

"Are you alright!?" Sally asked. Her voice contained some concerns that he didn't expect. Seth nodded and he observed his body.

He was full of energy now. "I'm sorry." Seth apologized before he stood and was guided by Manuella to his car.
