Eliana couldn’t move or speak.
Just as she opened her mouth, she tripped over the sofa.
With a cry of shock, she stretched out her hands without conscious thought and grabbed Maurice’s collar.
The two fell on the sofa together.
Their bodies so close that she could feel the warmth of his breath on her cheeks.
Eliana’s heart jumped to her throat and she struggled to get away from him.
However, Maurice acted in the opposite way.He leaned closer to her and stared at her nervous and shy face with great interest.
"Eliana."
His mellow voice was as pleasant as a cello, but the proximity between them made her feel very uncomfortable.
"Please…get off of me first."
"Are you afraid of me?"
There was a rare hint of humor in Maurice’s eyes.
Eliana’s body stiffened.She didn’t dare to shake her head or nod in response.
