Chapter 506 Brainless Fools

The Stewarts were gobsmacked to find that Caspian was even more powerful than a senior general.

“H–How could this be? Caspian … really is a big shot!” Marilyn stammered.

“Everyone knows how useless he is. How could he hold an even higher position than General

Anderson?” Alicia exclaimed nervously.

“I can’t believe it. I must be seeing things!” Kate cried out. Feeling thunderstruck, she couldn’t bring

herself to accept what was happening.

Caspian, the son–in–law she had been disparaging all this while, turned out to be an important figure.

His true identity had been kept a secret this whole time.

Kate shook her head, thinking that she had merely been mistaken.

However, the onlookers began to mock the Stewarts.

“You Stewarts are all fools! You mistreated such a powerful son–in–law and even decided to cut off all

ties with him! What an idiotic thing to do!”

“Just moments ago, Madam Stewart kept stressing that Willow no longer had any to the Stewart

family.”

“How laughable! Willow is the wife of a five–star general. Do you think she cares about nobodies like

the Stewarts? Even if they got on their knees and begged for forgiveness now, she wouldn’t bother

entertaining them!”

“I wonder how the Stewarts feel now. I’m sure they’re drowning in regret. Well, they chose to burn their

bridges, so it’s too late to turn things around.”

“The Stewarts never had any respect for Caspian, but look at the way things are now. Caspian’s even

more powerful than they could ever imagine.”

“The rumors were true, after all. Caspian is indeed no ordinary person. Here we were, thinking they

were all lies!”

“What do you expect from the Stewarts when an ignorant old woman’s heading the family? Look what

happened to the family. I distinctly remember the family having a much more prestigious standing when

Madam Stewart’s husband, the late Mr. Stewart, was still alive.”

“I agree with you. The Stewarts have become nothing more than a bunch of pandering clowns. It was

their own short–sightedness that led to their downfall today.”

“If the Stewarts had maintained a relationship with Willow and treated Caspian better, they could’ve

used their connection to him to establish themselves in Southlake City.

“In fact, they could’ve even become the most powerful family in the city! Alas, what a shame. They’ve

missed out on such a wonderful opportunity!”

“This would never have happened if the late Mr. Stewart was still around!”

“This proves that you can’t let an ignorant old woman be the head of the family. She’d bring the family

down with her poor decisions.”

“That’s right. Kate is also such a fool. Her attitude toward Willow took a turn for the worse just because

Southlake Corporation was bombed. She even exposed Willow’s true parentage! Let’s see what she’s

going to do now that she and Willow have completely fallen out.”

“Alicia’s just as much of a fool as the others! She has always had it out for Willow. She keeps thinking

she’s better than Willow in every way when in reality, she can’t even hold a candle to

Willow.”

The crowd’s ridicule made the Stewarts feel deeply humiliated, but what they said was true. The

Stewarts were indeed sorely regretting their actions now.

They thought they had found a chance to criticize and humiliate Willow, but instead, they were the ones

who became a laughingstock.

On the other hand, Willow and Zoey didn’t make any comments. The Stewarts were miserable enough

as it was. It was never wise to kick someone when they were down.

Unlike the Stewarts, the two women weren’t unreasonable people. They thought it would be beneath

them to kick someone when they were down.

As for the surrounding onlookers, they were nothing more than sheep. They had all been on the

Stewarts‘ side when the family ridiculed Willow. But now that they had seen how powerful Caspian was,

they swiftly took Willow’s side instead.

Meanwhile, Marilyn was so incensed that she could barely stand straight. She had turned a little pale

too.

“Calm down, Grandma! Don’t panic just yet. What if Caspian’s just putting on an act? Don’t let it get to

you,” Richard quickly said.

The surrounding people who heard him were dumbfounded. What kind of a person would jump to that

conclusion?

“There’s no way it’s just an act. Caspian is dressed in a military uniform, and even General Anderson

opened the door for him, so how can it be an act?” Marilyn refuted.

“When has the Diatoran army ever had a rank that’s higher than a senior general? Even if someone

like that does exist, why don’t we know about him? I’m sure the authorities would’ve reported such

information,” Richard said.

Upon hearing his argument, the Stewarts seemed enlightened.

“That’s true! In the last few years, there hasn’t been any news about the rise of a new important figure

in the country,” Nicholas declared.

“If we did have a general who’s even more powerful than General Anderson, I’m sure the government

would’ve made an official announcement about it.

“The press certainly wouldn’t miss out on reporting such important news. Although Caspian is wearing

a uniform with five stars on it, that doesn’t prove his identity is real. It could really be just an act!”

“You two brought up some very good points. Also, Caspian has always liked to pretend to be a big

shot. He threatened me before and even said the most ruthless things, but I don’t think we have to

worry about anything. He can’t possibly be a powerful figure.”

Marilyn spoke as she nodded in agreement.

“You’re absolutely right. Caspian’s my son–in–law. I know very well that he’s completely useless. He

just likes to brag. He even called himself Lord Caspian once. What a joke!” Kate

declared.

“That’s right. He likes pretending to be a big shot. First, he called himself Lord Caspian, and now, he’s

pretending to be a five–star general,” Alicia chimed in.

“Caspian has always been this way,” Richard added with a sneer. “The Stewarts are used to it. I don’t

think you guys need to pay any attention to him. I’m sure he’s just pretending. How can someone like

him be a big shot?”

“Everyone knows that the appointment of high–ranking military officers is a major affair,” Donald piped

up.

“The government will definitely make an announcement each time they appoint one, but we have never

heard of anyone being appointed for a position that’s even higher than a general officer, right?

“Caspian’s definitely putting on an act! He’s just pretending to be a big shot to make himself feel good.

Who knows? He might even pretend to be the King of Diatoran someday!”

The onlookers were stupefied. They couldn’t believe that the Stewarts genuinely suspected Caspian of

putting on an act. Who would dare to pretend to be someone even more powerful than a senior

general?

Unable to bear with it anymore, they immediately started making stinging remarks about the Stewart’s.

“There has got to be something wrong with the Stewarts‘ brains! The truth is right under their noses,

but they refuse to believe that Caspian is someone important!”

“I know, right? They’ve got to be kidding. They’re just lying to themselves. Look at all the tanks! Even

General Anderson saluted Caspian. How could he have arranged for such a grand procession if he

wasn’t a powerful figure?”

“The Stewart family must be a bunch of fools. They’re just saying those things because they can’t

accept finding out about Caspian’s true identity.”

“Richard and Nicholas are just as foolish. Look at all those military officers surrounding Caspian. How

can it be an act? How is it even possible for someone to suspect him?” “They’re all brainless. I can’t

take it anymore. I’m so fed up with them.”
