Two days after the distasteful visit, while Jiang Fei and the other girls were training the low-ranking martial artists, Sylphy flashed herself to the training grounds, smiling.
“Love! The dwarf man is here!” She squeaked. The dwarf that she was referring to was none other than Bai Shien.
Jiang Fei smiled happily as his eyes widened with joy.
“Invite him in!”
He had been waiting for him to bring him the good news about recruiting the other Level 5 grand masters. As soon as he had enough of them, he could launch the raid, acquire him some Energy Crystals, and lay down the fire on the Unknowns.
Jiang Fei entered the house and quickly made his way to the grand guest room. This time, Bai Shien was not alone. There was another older gentleman standing behind him.
“Forgive my tardiness, I am a little busy at the moment.” Jiang Fei bowed and apologized to the two masters.
“No need to be so polite. We are all but the same,” said Bai Shien, smiling like a buddha whilst treating Jiang Fei as an equal peer.
Thing is, even though he was a Level 5 grand master of a reputable sect, Bai Shien could not be more humble than he had ever been in his entire life. The man was depending on Jiang Fei to reforge his Godblade into a usable weapon, by a mysterious grand master rumored to be a Level 6 Metahuman! The line Jiang Fei would need to cross in order to offend Bai Shien was far. From another perspective, Jiang Fei was only a Level 4 fighter and yet he was able to affect a Level 5 girl to the point where she welcomed him in like a servant! What kind of person was he to be able to command a higher level fighter?
“Senior Bai, who is this gentleman?” Jiang Fei bowed and asked. He could clearly feel the tremendous Level 5 aura that was emitted of the man standing behind Bai Shien.
“Oh? This is the grand master of the Rainbow Longsword Sect, Xiahou Shangyuan,” Bai Shien introduced him before turning to face him.
“Oyy, old fart, this is the young boy that I’ve been talking about. He’s Jiang Fei,” Bai Shien teased.
“I say, short one, you just couldn’t hold your nasty tongue back during the introduction.” Xiahou Shangyuan rolled his eyes and snorted. Jiang Fei snickered. As he could see, these two gentlemen were rather close. How else could Bai Shien tease and insulte Xiahou Shangyuan so nonchalantly and get away with it.
“Greetings, Senior Xiahou.” Jiang Fei bowed and greeted.
“No need for that. Based on your age and talents, you will soon be standing amongst us. Let us skip ahead and greet each other as equals,” said Xiahou Shangyuan. He did not bow to Jiang Fei, not even a little as Bai Shien did.
“Thank you for the praise. This one is not worthy.” Jiang Fei bowed again, respectfully even though the man did not reciprocate it. It mattered to Jiang Fei since the man in front of him was helping him to do his “bidding”.
“Come now, lighten up a bit here. Call him whatever you like and don’t stand on ceremony here,” said Bai Shien as he clapped his hands to diffuse the atmosphere. Without waiting for Jiang Fei’s invite, he got to the guest room’s center and made himself comfortable on the sofa.
“Senior Xiahou Shangyuan, please have a seat.” Jiang Fei gestured as he invited Xiahou Shangyuan to the sofa. Ariel came in from behind, silently, with a tray of tea in hand. She too was a Level 5 fighter and was serving tea to the grand master.
“Thank you!” Xiahou Shangyuan exclaimed. Even though the two of them were relaxed with Jiang Fei, they were now terrified of Jiang Fei’s master. He was only the junior disciple of the sect, or so they thought, yet he was accompanied by multiple Level 5 seniors. How did the master deem Jiang Fei to be superior to the other Level 5 fighters there?
When Ariel approached them to offer them tea, Bai Shien and Xiahou Shangyuan humbled themselves and thanked Ariel for the tea, like proper guests.
Ariel was quiet the entire time. She only responded with a nod and a smile. After serving tea, she went behind Jiang Fei and stood there obediently, like a dignified maid.
Bai Shien and Xiahou Shangyuan viewed Jiang Fei differently now. It was more prominent than ever that Zhuge Shanzhen was treating this particular student better than the others. Why else would the Level 5 fighters obey him like a senior?
Since Bai Shien and Xiahou Shangyuan were very close to each other, everything about the dart tips and the reforging of the Godblade was shared. The purpose of this trip was to have Jiang Fei arrange a meeting with Zhuge Shanzhen and to request him to reforge a Godblade.
It was a common dream to all Level 5 Metahumans, besides breaking through the barrier and reaching Level 6, to have their own personalized Godblade. Reaching Level 6 was purely theoretical. While in theory, it could be achieved, no one has ever reached that level of power.
On the other hand, owning a personalized Godblade was a different story. Even though owning the aforementioned weapon was a more achievable dream, no forger on the face of Earth had the capability of melting down that unknown metal. They were still physically able to own a Godblade but the dream of using a personalized Godblade, fashioned into a preferable form, was still a dream. The phrase: so close yet so far, fit perfectly here. Now, that dream was within reach as Jiang Fei had offered to reforge the weapon. Knowing that, every Level 5 fighter would definitely be kissing Jiang Fei’s feet now.
“Senior Bai, how is the matter that you partook?” Jiang Fei finally broke the silent when everyone was keeping their thoughts to themselves.
“I was waiting for you to bring it up!” Bai Shien laughed as he explained his journey. It took him many sleepless nights for him to help Jiang Fei spread the word. His efforts paid off when the other grand masters noticed how hard Bai Shien was trying to rally an army of grand masters to follow Jiang Fei. Even though it cost him merely his energy, Bai Shien was happy. The harder he worked, the happier he was. The culture of martial artists was based on gratitude. If Jiang Fei knew how hard he worked, it would only push Jiang Fei to return the favor even more which would help Bai Shien in his effort to persuade Jiang Fei to convince Jiang Fei’s master to forge the Godblade for Bai Shien. Bai Shien would literally bend over backward just to have his dream fulfilled.
“I have already rallied the other old farts. Just say the word and we will wreck those machines! We will teach them a lesson they will forever remember. They will know that we, martial artists, are a force to be reckoned with!” Bai Shien explained, rather glamorously at that.
“Thank you very much for the hard work!” Jiang Fei stood up, bowed, and exclaimed his thanks loudly.
“It’s barely hard work. Sure, I scraped my heels and lips while running around and talking too much, but it’s all in a day’s work.” Bai Shien brushed it off as nothing but the intention was there to impress Jiang Fei, to emphasize how much effort he had put in.
“Thank you! By the way, I have great news for you. My master has agreed to help reforge the weapon,” said Jiang Fei when it was time to “reward” Bai Shien for his efforts. From his past experience, Jiang Fei had learned to see the light of desire shining from another person’s eyes. He knew when to cast the bait out and when to reward the target well, if they had done his bidding.
“Is that so? Hahaha! You have my thanks!” Bai Shien laughed loudly. He was so happy that his efforts were recognized by Zhuge Shanzhen.
“Reforging the weapon would take some time. You will have to hand me your original Godblade first. If you’re worried about it, I can give you some of mine as insurance,” said Jiang Fei.
“No need for that. I trust the great Zhuge and his talented disciple!” Bai Shien gestured nonchalantly at Jiang Fei and laughed.
