Chapter 83 - Telling Them Everything
Chapter 83 - Telling Them Everything
"What do you mean? I thought that you called us here so that you will tell us what happened in the fight.", Raphael asked.
"Yeah, yeah. Okay. Listen, guys. We have a problem. The fight shouldn't have ended after I was blasted out of the building. We should have gone in, and we should have apprehended the people within. There were a lot of people in the building, and a few of them were very dangerous. Who knows who we missed. And now, we just gave them a whole week to disappear.", Lucas said.
"It wasn't our intention. But we had much more on our hands. There were so many civilians who were endangered and so many police on the way. We had to retreat, or we would be in a federal maximum security prison right now.", Raphael said.
"As if that would do anything to us. I faced a homunculus. It stopped me from going after the marquess, and she had more than enough time to escape. I didn't have a choice but to destroy the homunculus. It was strong, but I defeated it soon enough. Who would have thought that it would have self destructed though? I took in the main brunt of the force. I think there was some poison in the blast as well, as if it was created expecting this result.", Lucas said.
"A homunculus? Yes. You said this when you fell unconscious in Michael's hands.", Angela nodded.
"I will get to Michael later. Now, regarding this. Do you still have the blanket that was covering me? I was naked then.", Lucas said.
"Finally. Now, can I get your gratitude? One of my men had to clothe you!.", Michael said.
"I said that I will get to you later.", Lucas growled at Michael.
"Alright. What did you want to say? What about that blanket?", Praneeth said, trying to redirect the conversation.
"I need to know where the blanket came from, and who gave it to me. Someone rescued me while I was in the air. I thought it was Michael, and it looked like Michael. It even smelled and sounded exactly like him. I only knew it wasn't Michael because of the way that the person acted. And apparently it was all an illusion.", Lucas said.
"Alright, you were in an illusion. But we have bigger things to worry about.", Raphael interjected.
"No, we don't. I couldn't see that I was in an illusion until a few minutes in. That girl had every opportunity to kill me, but she didn't. I need to know who she is, and whose side she is on. And she is powerful alright, so we need to figure this out fast.", Lucas said.
"She? It was a girl?", Arthur asked.
"Yeah. What's wrong with that?", Lucas asked.
"Nothing.", Arthur snickered.
"Just- just shut up. I am not done yet. We have to talk about the Marquess now.", Lucas said.
The moment that Lucas said that he had to talk about the marquess, everyone did shut up. They looked at Lucas, eager to know what he intended to say.
"She- I couldn't see her face, only her body. It was, well, a woman's body alright. She looked stunning and had a hot body. But that is not the point. She didn't even have a light source in the room. Even with my superhuman vision, I couldn't see her face. It was like there was nothing there, and it just didn't allow me to see what she looked like.", Lucas said.
"You couldn't see her face? Interesting. So she doesn't have light reflecting on her face.", Praneeth said.
"And Fenrir said something that was a little concerning. He said something about her having a body of chaos or something. Even when I attacked her, I tried once, she had an extremely powerful attack up her sleeve, and she felt extremely dangerous.", Lucas said.
"So she is not all talk, and she has some powers up her sleeve. I guessed that. She is the apostle of Apophis alright. She was very powerful, and she was able to find me out almost immediately. Almost as fast as Fenrir, in fact. Is she strong, or are you slipping Fenrir?", Praneeth looked at Lucas, or rather, Lucas' chest.
"Shut up. She was strong, and I was rusty. And about this body of Chaos thing, it is nothing that you need to know about. Just know that looking for the meaning of certain things has already been made taboo by the very gods you serve.", Fenrir growled from within Lucas.
"I wonder what is so special about this particular person, that even the god of chaos, the one that is destined to wipe off all life on earth, is very interested in her. This is a shocking turn that has no precedent. He has never taken an Apostle before, according to my knowledge.", Praneeth said.
Lucas nodded. He then took a look at the rest of the council members.
"What is our next course of action? We have no idea where the marquess is. We have no idea where the rest of the people that have escaped are. And that doctor or whoever that she talked to, he could possibly create more of those homunculi and that could be a huge problem.", Lucas said.
"A doctor? What was his name. Think, fast.", Praneeth's face changed, and he glared at Lucas.
"It was some Italian name, I think. Mario? I guess. I am not sure.", Lucas said as he looked at Praneeth suspiciously.
"Was it Dr. Marianno?", Praneeth asked.
"And now, I am super suspicious at you. How the hell did you know that, and who the hell is he? How is he related to you?", Lucas asked.
"He isn't related to me, per se. It is more accurate to say that he hates me.", Praneeth said.
"He hates you? Well, I guess it is understandable.", Lucas shrugged. "But why?"
"I killed him."
