Chapter 96 - Castle
Chapter 96 - Castle
The city passed them very quickly, and they were in a very desolate area. Angela looked out the window and could see a huge wall approaching them.
"I didn't know that modern cities had city walls anymore.", she said.
"Oh, that? Look again. That isn't a city wall.", Lucas laughed.
Angela squinted her eyes and looked closely. Lucas was right. This wall seemed to be a little older than the city that they passed. It was as if it came from the medieval times. In front of the wall, there was a moat of sorts and a gate that was closed.
"Don't tell me. Someone made it modeled after a castle.", she exclaimed.
"Not someone. Me.", Lucas said.
"You have a castle!", Angela shrieked.
"What's so surprising? It would be surprising if I got myself the whole city. It is just a castle. Any of us can afford it.", Lucas shrugged.
"But it is a castle. If people knew that someone still had a full blown castle that was completely functional, and was functional for the last century, then they would flock here. We cannot let anyone know that we are immortal. Wait. Your cult or something knows right?", Angela asked.
"Now that you say it, a cult sounds bad. Let us call it my organisation. And yeah, of course, they know. I gave them my house to safeguard and maintain. I trust them. And there is the fact that most of them are werewolves, druids, and dwarves. I never had the pleasure of welcoming an elf and a spirit to my house though. You should introduce a few." Lucas grinned.
"Oh please. Let us just go in." Angela scoffed.
The car halted right in front of the castle and it honked. The door opened and they came crashing down to give the car a road to pass through the moat.
"It kind of seems pointless now, the moat. Back when we made it, it looked pretty cool, and it did stop a few people from coming in. But well, there weren't many here, to begin with, and now, with all sorts of air flight capable helicopters, the whole point of a moat is just a waste of money.", Lucas sighed.
The car rolled into the castle, and they could now see what the castle really looked like from the inside. There were towers that lived up to their name, and towered above them. The castle was laid out like layers, with each layer higher than the other. The highest was a sort of citadel, and it was pretty tall.
"Why couldn't I see it from outside?", Angela wondered.
"Why would I let anyone know that there was a castle here? Don't be ridiculous. You said it yourself. People would flock here if they knew that there was a castle here." Lucas laughed.
The car came to a halt, and someone opened the door. Lucas stepped out of the car, and stretched his arms one more time.
"Home sweet home. And look at that, the time is also perfect. Who here is also itching for a fight?", Lucas shouted all of a sudden.
"Poor kids. Why do you want to harrass them the moment that you step here? Can you at least do the decency of giving them a little time to prepare them for their inevitable doom?" Angela chuckled as she also got off the car.
"Master and Mistress are looking like a match made from heaven. Where are you arriving from, Master?", one man clad in a white suit asked Lucas.
"I am wrong. You can go ahead and beat them up now.", Angela said.
"I am sorry Mistress, but what did I do wrong?", the man asked Angela as he bowed.
"First of all, I am not your Mistress. I am sure as hell not his match. Next time, get your facts right. Lucas, you promised that you have a few suitable body suits here for fighting.", Angela glanced at Lucas.
"Take her to her room.", Lucas waved his hand.
"Yes, master", a man nodded and he hurried in front of Angela. "This way please, mi- I mean, madam."
Angela nodded, and she was taken into one of the towers.
"Alright. Now it is time to stretch my muscles. Take the car away and clear the training ground. It is time for us to have some fun. Let us see if all of you have been lazing around for the last twenty years. You better not have been, or it will be very disappointing, and I will get angry. You know that I do not exactly control my punches when I am angry.", Lucas shouted.
"Yes Master!", all the men in suits shouted.
Lucas grinned as he took off his blazer and loosened his tie.
"Come at me. Full strength."
The car drove away, and huge clearing could be seen. There were men in suits as well as men in training shorts and normal t-s. All of them looked at Lucas seriously.
"I said full power, you idiots. I mean full power.", Lucas growled as his eyes turned blue and fur started appearing on his arms and hands.
"Finally, things are getting a little interesting. This will be a good warm-up." Fenrir said, chuckling.
The men on the field started transforming. There were werewolves among them, druids among them, and some other super natural creatures as well, just like Lucas said. Together, they looked like they were a whole army, and with all of them looking like they were able to tear apart a normal human, all of them together looked terrifying.
They all shouted as they charged towards Lucas. Lucas was grinning with his teeth all shown. He then shook his shoulder as he braced himself for impact agianst one man who was coming towards him flying.
In the towers,
"What are those idiots doing? It has not even been a few minutes since they have arrived and they are already fighting? What is wrong with them?", Angela sighed as she looked out the window.
"It is a tradition that the master always battles his students when he returns from his voyages. He has to make sure that they have not slacked off.", the man who was taking Angela to her room said.
"Fight immediately? Oh my god. What a bunch of freaks.", Angela shook her head.
"I suggest that you do not voice that opinion here, madam. Even if you are the master's guest, it is quite offensive." the man said.
"Don't worry about all that. I am not an idiot like your master is. Now why doesn't this place have a goddamn elevator? Why must I climb all these stairs? This is the twenty first century, and you are forcing me to climb these goddamn stairs. Get an elevator here already. You spent millions on a car, but can't spend a few thousand?", Angela grumbled.
"That is simply to maintain the authenticity of this place. Master has not taken the on set of technology too kindly. He feels that it has dulled the human mind and body too much, and that it also hampers his favourite pasttime. So he wanted this place to be free of all that. You will get internet here, and your room has been fitted with a telivision, so you do not need to worry about that."
"It is like you read my mind." Angela smiled.
"Your room has all the facilities that you need, and shall expect from any accomodation. Obviously, everything here is powered by electricity, and even the master knows that he cannot revert back to the past completely. Your wardrobe has been fitted per your specifications. Battle ready suits are our speciality.", the man continued.
"Alright, all of that is good. But where is it? We have been going up for about two minutes." she said.
"Two minutes? Please give me a minute. I shall see how my peers have fared. He stopped for a moment and looked out the windows along the stairs.
"Wow! There are still a few standing. That is quite commendable.", he said with shock.
"With over a hundred people, you still cannot ensure that you will win? How pathetic." Angela scoffed.
"We are but children who were taught everything we have by master and master's disciples. How will we ever hope to even touch the standard that he is in? All we can do is hope to entertain him and his inner self." the man said.
"You mean Fenrir." Angela said.
The man flinched. "We prefer to call him master's inner self".
"Alright, this is getting kind of ridculous. I am going to pick up my pace. It is in the bedroom on top is it not?" Angela asked.
"That is correct. The bedroom on top. There is only one bedroom in this tower. It was made specifically with female guests in mind. Male guests of high esteem are given their own tower, and there is a tower for all the guests who are not worthy of such arrangements."
"And that bastard had the audacity to call me a snob." Angela's face twitched.
"Wait. How many towers do you even have in here? If you have a few for guests, then where do you guys sleep?" she asked.
"We have our accomodations in the citadel in the center of this land. The master sleeps in the top bedroom, while there are many in the floors below where we take residence." the man said.
