Chapter 31 - Walking Into Trouble
Chapter 31 - Walking Into Trouble
"Ahh!!"
Max couldn't help but screamed ,feeling his end drawing near. His cloak fluttered in the strong wind as he fell towards the ground.
"Ha..Ha.. now this is fun, how do you feel kid." Murcas spoke with a wide grin on his face.
'Damn it.'
He caught onto Max's age. He lost his calm a minute ago and screamed in his original voice.
'Since he already heard it, it would be better to not hide it from him anymore. It will even save me from some extra trouble.'
"Old man you better have some way to land, or I don't even know what my body would look like after reaching the ground." Max spoke in a pleading tone.
"Ha...Ha.. You are young. Just enjoy it. I am here to worry about this stuff." He spoke with a short laugh.
'You are the source of my worry to begin with.'
Obviously, He couldn't say that. He just hoped that that guy was reliable.
Max's nervousness increased as the ground appeared to get closer.
As sweat started to drip off of his forehead, he heard a whistle.
"Phwwwwwwht!!"
Max turned his head upwards and found Murcas whistling with his thumb and index finger in his mouth.
"Scree!!"
A loud screech resonated across the sky as a large shadow appeared in a distance approaching them at a fast speed.
As that got closer, his eyes widened in shock. The flying creature had a pair of giant incisors along with a head of an Eagle and the body of a vulture.
'Damn it !'
'What the hell is an Iron Black Hawk doing out in the middle of the city.'
'Huh... Why is it getting bigger and bigger.'
'Shit! '
It was coming for them.
"Old man, take that sword out, it's approaching us ".
Yes, he needed to calm down. Even at its best, it was a 1? Savage Beast. With a guy like him, it shouldn't be a big deal.
"It's here ". Murcas spoke looking at the beast which was four times his size.
...
Suddenly, Max felt a tug on his hand. Turning his head, he saw Murcas grabbing his arm with one hand while the other one came for his collars.
Grasping him tightly, he spoke with a smile which sent chills through his body.
"You appear to be a young lad. I doubt you have even seen a beast properly. Let me help you as your senior."
That was the last word he heard from him, before he utilised the power in his huge arms to throw him straight at the incoming beast at speed of the sound.
"Ahhhhhh!!"
Max tore through the air at the speed of lightning as the figure of the beast appeared to get closer even faster.
'Damn it'
That guy was definitely taking revenge for his earlier behaviour. But wasn't that too much. 'Did he misunderstood my strength?' Max thought as he flew towards the beast.
'Huff!!'
Max let out a sigh.
What does that even matter? There was no way, he could run away from a Savage beast and not to mention, he was not even on the land.
…
Scree!
As the beast got within the radius of 10m from him. It letted out a strong screech before flapping its wing and speeding towards him with its beak open.
'Damn'
Even though he was going to die. He had to go down with a fight. Otherwise, even that old geezer won't stop laughing at him.
With that thought, He took out the dagger and positioned it in front of his body, planning to pierce straight through its stomach.
But as the Beast's beak appeared before his eyes, it closed even before letting him in. It catched Max by his cloak and speeded up towards Murcas.
Hanging on its beak, he felt the strong wind due to its sheer speed. As it got above Murcas, it let out a light screech in joy before diving below and allowing him to land on its back.
"So how was it, young man?" Murcas asked him with a light smile.
Hearing him, black lines appeared on my face, but with his mask on, it wasn't visible to him.
So, it was his pet.
"Thank you, now could you let me up." Max asked while holding the anger rising in his stomach.
"No, you can't. Giesel here is quite a shy one and takes it time with strangers."
Giesel
That guy could come up with a good name, that was unexpected.
Max looked towards Giesel with pleading. If it is a pet, it shouldn't harm humans. Because the pets were usually raised within human care and were given proper training.
As Max's eyes met his eyes, he felt a glow in his eyes before he threw him up and let out a cheerful screech, allowing him on its back.
"Huh.. now that's unusual. It doesn't let any stranger ride on it. You have definitely got some good qualities in you kid." Marcus spoke with a curiosity in his eyes and sized him up.
Max really doubted him. If one needed to have good qualities in him to ride this beast. It really was a wonder how that guy could get on it.
Obviously, he couldn't say that to his face.
That guy already showed his character and it was the type who Max didn't want to offend in any way.
"So, let me know what you have got until now." Marcus spoke as the smile on his face was replaced by seriousness.
And then, a series of questions and answers began.
...
...
After a few minutes of conversation, Max let him onto his lead of the ticket that he got from the assassin's pocket. And he also indirectly pointed towards the odd behaviour of the guild union. After all, directly claiming the involvement of the union was a big remark to make.
"Not bad, you have done a good job. I have got my leads to. But I don't think at your level of strength, coming along with me will be a good option. I don't know why you are pretending to be strong. But since Giesel has accepted you as a friend, you are mine friend too. Just investigate with the lead you currently have and contact me if you find anything. And don't get into trouble." He spoke with a light smile while petting Max's head.
He gave him his contact and dropped him at a deserted street before taking off again.
Hm..
So he had a good side to him too. With that, his image climbed a grade in Max's mind.
So, Max finally was left alone.
It was what he wanted to begin with.
But he was celebrating too early as he didn't have any idea of his current location.
