Chapter 434: Druid Race
"Where are you going?" The head maid looked at Max who had just come out of his room.
"I was going to get some fresh air…" Max replied with a smile.
"Only people who are tired need those things…" the head maid words were dripping with sarcasm.
Max had been cutting corners for the last two days. He had taken a leave and had even used Rio as an excuse to avoid work. It didn't escape the head maid's eyes.
"How did you get hurt?" She asked in surprise as her gaze fell on Max's hand.
"An accident during training…" Max replied with a smile.
"Come with me…" Head maid beckoned him and brought Max with and helped him disinfect the wound.
'She is not that bad I guess…' Max was surprised to find her good side. She was not as cruel as he thought.
"All done…"
"Thank you…" Max smiled.
"Good, now that you are going to get some fresh air, take out the trash as well…."
Max's face twitched. He was taking his words back. She was a bad person after all.
In the end, he took the trash and went out of the mansion gates to dump it in the dumpster.
After Max was done, he finally had time and went towards the garden for a stroll.
Suddenly Max heard a familiar voice. It seemed he wasn't alone here.
"Marriage proposal?"
"So he already has someone and I am supposed to be a Second partner?"
"Umn...I get it…"
"If it's your decision. I will follow it…"
The person's voice seemed to be lacking emotions. Her tone hadn't changed from start to end, when she hung up her phone.
'Why the hell do I hear things that I shouldn't?' Max shook his head and gently turned around to leave.
"Who is it?"
Max stopped. He was surprised that he had been found out, he hadn't used his stealth technique to mask his presence. But he still was quite a bit away from her.
How could a sheltered girl have such sharp senses?
Max turned around and appeared in front of her with raised hands.
"I was just passing by. I didn't mean to hear anything…"
Elly looked at him and then just turned her head away sitting on the bench in the garden.
The atmosphere had turned awkward, Max didn't know whether to leave or say something. Was it really his place to butt in…
"Don't tell anyone about it for now…" Elly said as she looked at Max.
"So it was about your marriage?'' Max asked with a sigh as he looked at her. He could somehow relate himself to her.
He walked towards the bench and sat on the other end.
"Why do you need to think about these things so early?" Max asked with a sigh.
"It's my Grandfather's decision…" Elly said with a calm voice.
'What the hell is wrong with all the grandfathers of the world?!!' Max cursed inwardly.
"Just refuse, what's the big deal? It's your life...you should make your decision. It's not like you will die if you refuse." 'unlike me' Max added internally.
"I won't…." Lisa replied with a straight tone. Her face seemed to have changed, on mentioning her grandfather. "He knows what is best for me…"
Max could feel some deep emotion hidden underneath her emotionless face at the moment.
"Really? If I heard it right, you said 'Second partner'. I am sure it is not what I think it is, right?'' Max said as he looked at her.
Elly didn't look at him, ''It isn't that odd in our circle…"
"Why don't you say that looking at my face?" Max gave her a look. He just couldn't believe it, was there really no hope in this world?? Should he really save it?
It was moments like this that made Max question his decisions.
"My grandfather knows what's good for me…" Elly's reply seemed to have stopped at that.
"Really?'' Max was a bit irritated. She has the chance to refuse which he didn't and yet this girl….
"There are only two cases when people have more than one wife, the first one is love and mutual acceptance….which I think is bullish*t…how can there be any fairness in a person falling in love with two people? It's clearly selfishness…. As for the second one, it's because the person is a pervert…..."
"Why do you care? It has nothing to do with you…." Elly looked at Max.
"I thought we were friends, it's just friendly advice…" Max said with a smile. He realised that he might have said a bit too much after being irritated.
"Thank you...but I won't refuse my Grandfather. He has done me more than I could repay in my lifetime…." Elly said as she remembered a few events from her past.
He had saved her from becoming a True Monster…He had given her everything she had now.
Max suddenly seemed to have realised something. 'I see…we are the same in that sense after all….'
It seemed that what Max felt towards Andriel was what Lisa felt towards her grandfather.
It was a bit odd though. Her grandfather was her family after all. But Max wasn't in the position to say anything when his own family relations were messed up.
"Anyway, it's not decided yet….he just asked me whether I was willing or not. He would only go ahead after getting my consent…beside he said he would try to break away his first marriage if possible...." Elly further said.
'What the f*ck is wrong with the old geezer?' Max felt that even Lisa's grandfather was a better than this Lord Lorenz who was revered as a hero thought the continent.
'Hero my ass...he is more like a Villain...' Max didn't say it to Elly's face.
"So who is this jerk that he plans to marry you to?" Max asked. He really wanted to know who this f*cker was.
"I didn't ask.." Elly replied with a calm face.
'Is she right in her head?' Max was really shocked at her reply. 'Does she not care about her own life?'
"You are hurt?'' Elly suddenly asked as she noticed the bandage on his hand.
"Yeah, a bit…" Max nodded.
"Can you heal?" He asked.
Elly's expression changed for the first time. The hesitation on his face was clear.
"It's fine...it's not that serious…"? Max was not that stupid. Last time and now too..it seemed there was something going on…why was she hiding her healing powers?
He has seen her use the wood variant...how did it turn into a healing variant….something was definitely hidden in there….
"It's fine...I can heal that much…" Elly said as she held Max's hands and uncovered the bandage.
A second later, her hand gave an emerald glow and Max's wound recovered at an visible rate. His complexions turned better as well and the paleness from the blood loss was gone as well.
'Her healing ability is strong…' Max was once again amazed at her.
"It's all healed.." Elly said as she looked at him.
"Thanks..." Max said as he got up.
"So, are you really going to accept it? I am sure all your friends will help you if you ask.." He asked her one last time. He didn't care much if it was happening to him. But he felt it was pitiful for a girl like her to pass through something like that...
Elly smiled as he looked at him. It was really not like her to smile. But her answer was obvious from that.
"Then, don't forget to invite me when the time comes…" Max said with a smile.
"It's too early to decide…" Elly replied.
"In that case, I hope that the proposal ends up with a failur-" Max wasn't even done with his words when his face sank. He stood motionless for a second and then immediately grabbed Elly as he flew out into the sky.
"Roar!!!!!"
Without a second of hesitation, he released his true spell and the water dragon crashed into the tree in the garden.
"Boom!"
The noise was enough to rile up the whole mansion.
Max quickly descended and hid his wings before anyone could come.
His gaze still lingered on the tree which had snapped from the middle and had fallen onto the wall, totally destroying it.
"Is the person still there?" Elly asked, she knew that Max wouldn't go crazy all of a sudden for no reason.
Max shook his head. He didn't sense the person in the first place. It was only a small clicking noise which grabbed his attention. A second later, he focused everything on his ears and immediately heard the heartbeat of a person.
No matter how good you were, you can't possibly stop your heart. If Max was to fully concentrate, he could hear everything with a radius of 30 meters, nothing would go unnoticed.
The fact that the person could mask his presence was more than enough to make Max wary of him. After all, he firmly believed that his senses were his strongest point and now, he was beaten right upfront.
"Could you let me go?'' Elly asked as Max was still holding her by her waist.
"Oh.." Max released her and soon the guards came rushing towards them.
…
"How did this kid find me? There isn't a single person in 12 Noble Houses who could sense my presence if I don't want them too…"
A man stood high in the sky looking at the scene below. There was a hint of shock in his eyes.
He was none other than the Head of the Mansion, Sir Sirius.
"So it was you after all, Uncle.." Another guy appeared beside Sirius.
"Hmmn...you were right, Ifrit.. This kid is really somewhat different…" Sirius said as he looked at Ifrit.
"Could you sense it as well?" Ifrit was surprised.
"No, it's just instinct….anyways. Don't let your aura loose from now on. The kid has frightening senses...it will be troublesome if he picks up something…" Sirius said with a serious tone as he looked at Ifrit.
Ifrit nodded and left.
Sirius still stood there looking below deep in thought. But soon shook his head. He then looked at the camera in his hand, "There is no way the Lord would back down now that the lady has shown her powers to the boy…"
"Well, it's good if the lady develops her powers. She has awakened the power of the Druid Race after all….its a pity that she had suffered a trauma after losing control…" Sirius sighed. He wasn't the type to force people in his affairs but he wouldn't lie….Elly would surely be able to play a major role in what was about to come if she could get over her past…
Anyway, it was up to fate. He didn't have any control over it.
He slowly turned away and left….he was just here to check the CCTV footage to find some juicy material on the Lord's order who would have thought that he would bump into a fortius encounter….the Lord will surely fight to death today if he was refused...
