Chapter 469: First Day Of Orca Event(2)

"This feels so real…" Lear muttered as he looked below.

He had been transported to the terrace of a four-storey building.

He could see a lot of beasts all around and even a few flying high in the sky. This might not be as easy as he thought it to be.

Lear turned around to look for the exit only to realise that there was none. It was actually submerged or more likely destroyed by the thick canopy of the trees which had more less constricted the entire building.

"I will have to cut it...I guess…" Lear took out his sword and sliced the branches making his way through.

"It's really dark in here…." Lear frowned. There wasn't much light coming from outside and the switches for the lights weren't working as well.

Lear immediately took out the flashlight from his pouch and looked around. He could see that it was a residential apartment as there were destroyed house appliances and furniture around.

"Hmmn?" Lear suddenly felt something was wrong and he could hear strange noises coming from above. He immediately turned his flashlight above only to be met with dozens of red eyes glaring at him.

'Sh*t!'

'Blood Eating Bats!!'

Lear immediately pulled out another of his swords and made an attack.

The blades on the first sword coiled around him like a python and defended him from any kind of incoming attack while the other one mercilessly slaughtered the bats on the ceiling as he carefully made a retreat.

His priority was to find others. Not to mention fighting in a closed place was a bad idea. He had to be careful of their breath attack.

….

On the other side, Axel held his breath as he carefully hid behind the vehicle.

The beast was still there, it seemed to have approached the place after picking up some smell but it couldn't find it anymore.

It definitely felt that something was wrong. It turned its head all around before finally stopping at the overturned car.

When Axel heard it approaching, his heart began to thump loudly. He gripped his handgun tightly as black runes began emerge on the barrel of the gun.

"Boom!"

Suddenly an explosion occurred in the distance. The beast suddenly stopped and turned around looking at the smoke rising in the air.

It then immediately left towards the place. It seemed it wouldn't tolerate any intruder in its territory.

Axel used this opportunity to sneak a glance at the beast. He needed to know what it was and how strong it could possibly be…

"That was close…'' Axel began to sweat when he realised what it was….even the stench which had filled the area was enough of a proof that he wasn't wrong.

It was Giant Manticore…

Since it didn't have wings, it definitely wasn't a Mythic Beast….it should be a strong Savage Tier beast….

"I better get out of here.."Axel hurriedly escaped. His first objective was to get as far as possible.

Axel thanked the person who had caused the commotion. It must have been some student. If not for it, he would be in a lot of trouble.

When Axel finally met another beast, he finally calmed down realising that he was out of its territory.

He then took out a cloak from his backpack and wore it. The next instant runes emerged and his body faded away.

It was a simple trick for anyone who could cast light-type runes.

Axel began to move. He was hoping to find some high rise area as they have planned to use it as a base. He hoped that the rest would have the same thought which would lead them at the same place. He looked around saw that there seemed to be some hilly areas towards the west of the city.

To be honest, he wanted to launch the emergency flair that he had to attract everyone. But his life wasn't in danger, it might give others the wrong idea. Not to mention, if he somehow managed to attract the attention of strong mana beasts then that would be it for him.

"Bang!"

Axel immediately stopped when he heard the sound of a fight and immediately decided to snoop around.

If it was his friends then he would definitely help out if not, then goodbye…

"Hmmn? Isn't that Wilson's sister?" Axel muttered as he hid in the bushes even with his invisibility cloak to make sure that he didn't leave any openings…

Erina was fighting alone surrounded by a group of Iron-winged beetles.

The beasts weren't that strong but in a group things would be a bit different.

"Well, even though I haven't met her in person….she should be strong for being a celestial...she can handle it alone...not to mention this isn't the time to care about others…"

As Axel was about to leave, Erina suddenly casted out a larger spell and flames immediately erupted engulfing the group of beasts.

Even the bushes in which Axel was hiding caught onto the fire forcing him to move in a hurry.

"Who's there?!" Erina was quick to sense movement as she was on alert the whole time.

Axel stood there completely still.

Erina couldn't see him but she wasn't a foolish beast. Flames immediately engulfed her hands.

"Wait! You can't attack me!! It's only the first day...aren't you afraid of the penalty…" Axel said as he immediately moved back.

"Show yourself first...how can I believe that you aren't willing to face the penalty to take me down…" Erina said with a frown.

Axel felt it was reasonable and hence let his hood down to show his face.

It was definitely scary to see a head floating in the air but Erina's face twitched only for a second.

"Which Academy are you from?" Erina didn't recognize him it seemed.

"I was just passing by...please don't mind me…" Axel replied. He didn't answer her question as he had heard Lear saying that she was a crazy person.....

He definitely wouldn't want to mess with a person like that.

"Have you met anyone from Ocien Academy?" Erina asked.

"No...I haven't...but I heard battle noises in that distance…" Axel said as he pointed in tye direction where the explosion had occurred earlier.

"Have you met any students?" Axel asked as he looked at her.

Erina shook her head as she prepared to move in the direction which Axel had pointed to.

"It's better if you don't go there...I saw a strong beast lurking around…''

If it was anyone else, Axel would have let them commit suicide but since she was Wilson's sister he dropped a warning.

Erina looked at him. If a guy as weak as him could get away, there was no reason that she wouldn't.

She didn't know that Axel had gotten lucky and the Giant Manticore had been distracted by the commotion in the distance.

When Erina left, Axel shook his head.

"I haven't got any ill will towards her, Wilson…. but she is an enemy now…" Axel muttered inwardly.

If he had said that the beast was a Giant Manticore, Erina might have changed her mind but he didn't….because he had his priority set....they were not here to help enemies....

Besides, no one was dying here. They could just forfeit if they couldn't take it anymore and would be immediately taken out of the event.

….

The sun was over Axel's head and it was already noon.

He has already moved a lot in the area and killed a few Ferocious beasts to get some points.

The point distribution was something like this…

Ferocious Beast:

1? (Low): 10

2? (Mid): 20

3? (High-Peak): 30-50

Savage Beasts:

1? (Low): 100

2? (Mid): 1000

3? (High-Peak): 5000-10000

Mythic Beasts:

1? (Low): 100000

Rescuing dummy survivors reward an additional 1000 points per person while securing an area could reward anywhere between 10000-50000 points depending on the amount of difficulty.

Obviously securing an area was the most difficult, there would be tons of beasts around and even stronger ones.
