Chapter 683 - A Complicated Relation

'What am I hesitating for?' Max cursed himself inwardly. But before he could make up his mind and speak, he didn't have any chance left to do so.

"It's fine.." Elly suddenly got up, when she saw Max didn't have an instant answer for it. If he had to think about it, then she knew it wasn't there yet. She was sure that it would be different if it was Lisa.

"We still have time.." She just smiled at him and then walked out of the place.

Max raised his hand but stopped midway and allowed her to go. She was different from Andriel and Lisa. She wasn't madly in love with him. It was a fact. This was just a situation which had forced them together, and she had accepted it with all her heart.

You may call it another way of love as well if you felt like it. But, it sure was different than a traditional one.

Obviously, there was a chance that things would change between them. After all, it had already started to happen. Both her and Max surely felt much closer to each other than they ever did.

'Should I have said it..' Max looked at the door and muttered inwardly.

He had no idea that he would be regret his silence soon.

"Whose f*cking intel was it!!!" William shouted in anger as he stood in the rubbles of what seemed to be a dome.

"Wasn't it yours?" Murcas asked with a smile.

"Bullsh*t!!" William cursed in anger.

"These people didn't have a single thing we could deem as a clue, much less a trace of Leo." He shook his head, and then came down from the air.

The two of them had formed a team and came here after finding some information on Leo Von, Derek's master, who went missing sometime ago.

"What about others? Is there any news from them yet?" He asked while looking at Murcas, but the guy just shook his head.

There were more than 300 attacks all around the Continent in a mere span of a month. They had actually killed a lot of people who were both Demons and members of the Dark Society as well.

These guys were almost close to overturning the continent.

Max had no idea that his job had been made easy by these fellows.

"Is it possible that he isn't in human society anymore?" William asked with a frown. It was actually entirely possible. If the Dark Society had passed him over to the demons and they had taken him along, then it sure was going to be difficult to find him.

This was really getting troublesome.

"The operation this time was too loud. I bet some people won't be happy. We might have to keep things low for the next month," Murcas said as he shook his head. This was really going to be troublesome.

"What happened to our spies in the Dark Society?" WIilliam asked.

"Well, they are there. But, no information from them. As for the one who initiated contact with the Demons, they disappeared as usual."

"I can't believe this b*stars could come and go as they please on our land but we can't do the same." He grumbled in anger.

"Well, it's not like that they are actually stepping into the Ancient Families' actual territory. It's just the place where normal humans live." Murcas looked at him.

"Whose side are you on?" William asked him with a dark face, and he just shut his mouth up. He knew when this guy was angry, he would take everything in the wrong way.

….

The next day arrived..

The teams gathered as usual. And, there was an usual hype today. Because, all the matches today were going to be extreme.

Axel walked up to the stage to draw the lot.

He was hoping for the easy pick, but it didn't turn out to be that way.

Their luck seemed to have run out, and they ended up getting matched with Orca.

"It seems we are facing off before finals." Kain smiled at Axel.

"Yeah.." Axel forced a smile on his face. He really was not happy by the look on this guy's face. He sure was thinking it was an easy win when they didn't even have their main players on the team. It was written all over his face.

Axel sure wanted to slap this guy with the fact that they would have won the last competition if not for the fact that Max was pulled out unfairly.

Anyway, even without Max and others, he would show this guy what he was made of.

"All the best.." Axel put his hand forward and Kain shook it with a smile. But, his reply sure left Axle fuming in anger. "I think you are one who is in need of it."

With that, Kain turned around with a laugh and returned to his seat.

'This guy..' Axel was pissed.

He soon returned back to his stands with a dark look on his face and it instantly give people an idea about what had happened.

"Eren! Terry!"

"Yes, Sir!!" Both of them stood straight like soldiers. A bit more and they might even have saluted them.

"We are going to win this at all costs." Axel looked at the two, "If any of you two get knocked out without knocking one opponent, then you better prepare yourself."

Two of them gulped.

This guy was sure asking a lot. Those guys had the best of best on their team. This was no joke.

"Let's go now." Axel beckoned them and took the lead. "Remember, if we defeat them today, we would be beating them in a head on fight. Something which we at our full force couldn't do previously."

As soon as the two heard that, their eyes lit up.

They obviously understood what that meant.

What they lacked was recognition. They were only seen as a strong dark horse because of Max and a few others.. But, if they could snatch a win now, things would surely change.
