Chapter 704 - Drawing The Bigger Fish
Arena, Trinity Academy.
The place was engulfed in silence. People were cheering like crazy a minute ago. The win for Trinity was close to them, and then suddenly everything changed and now it seemed like a dream to them.
They still couldn't understand what just happened?
Weren't they about to win? Weren't they supposed to be celebrating right now?
Where were the cheers?
"Yaaahh!!!" Cheers suddenly erupted, but it was from Arcane's stands. A few of their supporters and the members of the team itself were going crazy.
When they thought that it was all over, and they had fought well despite being a weaker team, things suddenly changed in their favor.
Mark couldn't help but feel excited. It seemed the luck that had made them lose the first event had come to apologize to them. If this wasn't luck, then he didn't know what it was.
Trinity's students were obviously heart broken and their faces clearly had that unwilling look on them. They wanted to deny this loss saying that it was luck on Arcane's side.
But, so what?
Didn't they fight and made it to the finals as well? So, was that luck as well?
And, even if it was, what could they possibly do?
Nothing..
They had to swallow the bitter pill of defeat.
"It's all that guy's fault. Only if he didn't release that arrow." There were always haters no matter what you did. These people turned their fangs towards Oslen.
If that guy hadn't loaded the arrow, and just quietly got eliminated. The victory would have been theirs.
But, that wasn't the case.
"That guy wanted to play the hero like his father, but just look at him. Only if he played it cool, we would have won.."
"What do you mean, a hero like his father? Didn't you hear that guy? If there are people who call him a hero, then there are indeed those who call him a scum as well. You never know how a person is if you haven't met them.."
The audience broke out in whispers.
And, since most of them were angry, the jerks among them didn't hold back in bashing the team. Oslen was obviously the one worst hit. It was all because he made the mistake, and led them to lose the game.
…
"That was close.." Axel smiled as he returned on a wheelchair. There was a hole in his leg, but it wasn't very serious. He should be able to get back on his feet in a day or two.
"Where are the other two?" Axel asked as he looked at them.
"Terry has a broken rib cage. He will need a bit more treatment. Eren is depressed and returns to the quarters," Mark replied.
"Why is he depressed when we won?" Axel asked with a confused look on his face.
"Well, he got his ass handed over. Isn't it upsetting? He was no match for Melan." Mark explained.
"What is there to be upset about? He is obviously weaker in terms of strength. Have you seen any weak guy winning over a celestial?" Axel asked as he shook his head, but then realization stuck him.
He suddenly felt several gazes and saw everyone looking at him.
"No..it's different for me. I am not using strength. That is careful planning. Don't confuse it." He tried to explain and justify himself as a weak creature.
"That in itself is a strength," August calmly replied.
"Well, that kind of strength certainly doesn't work against me. So, I will still call him a weak ass." Wilson chimed in earning himself a glare from Axel.
'It must be because of what Max told that guy.' Axel concluded inwardly. Max had told Eren that he would be allowed to know the truth when he broke through expert tier. That guy was certainly fired up, but Melan must have made him realize the difference between them.
And, even Melan was not an Expert Tier as of yet. He was only half the way into it.
But, it was very likely that the guy would be an expert by the next two events.
Celestials were no joke after all. Even though they weren't like Max or the chosen ones. They were still the best that the current era had to offer.
These guys were already close to Expert Tier. And, with the intense competition. They were surely digging out their potential. One example was Nathan, the guy himself had broken through to the Expert Tier.
And, there were rumors that a few others had done too. But, there wasn't a chance to test that as of yet.
….
Scarlet House, Ocien.
The sun had gone down the horizon. And, the sky had started to turn dark. Max had heard the news that Arcane had won, and he was indeed in a good mood due to it. It clearly showed that even without him, those guy's weren't weak.
"Sir, the Second Master is here to pick you up." A servant politely informed him.
Max looked at the guy, and nodded as he moved to head out.
Travis sure was very eager to take Max out. Now, Max was curious what this guy had in mind. He sure wanted to see what this was all about.
"You look good." Travis smiled in surprise as he looked at Max. "Shall we head out?"
"Sure, but where are we going?" Max asked him.
"It's a surprise. But, I will make sure that you won't forget tonight's experience." He smiled at Max, and Max did the same.
'These guy sure is very eager to take me on a tour. I wonder why he is so eager to about it. It seems he is targeting me.'
But, Max couldn't make any sense behind his action. After all, he hadn't met this guy even once in the past.
'Of course, there is a chance that this has something to do with Ovens.' Max couldn't deny that possibility. This guy's mother was an Ovens after all.
'Well, it will be clear soon.' Max shook his head, and just got ready for some fun.
If he even allowed a clown like this to dance at the top of his head, then he wouldn't know how to face bigger troubles.
There was no way he was going to let this guy do as he pleased.
'I might as well use him to draw the bigger fish out...' Max suddenly smiled.
