Chapter 762 - Bad News
Max looked at Naze with a strange look in his eyes.
"Don't give me that look. I am serious here. Besides, it will be a pity if she dies like this…" Naze calmly stated as both he and Max began to make their way out of the place.
For now, Alina could be considered to be their hostage. They had to see what to do with her ahead.
As Max and Naze were on their way towards the Scarlet Mansion, a huge explosion shook the Ocien and a terrifying fluctuation of energy spread across the city for a second.
Chaos immediately filled the streets.
Normal people didn't know what had happened, but it definitely seemed like the city was under some kind of attack. And, since Ocien was a border city, it obviously had a lot more chances of being invaded by mana beast.
Max and Naze exchanged a look.
They definitely knew that it wasn't a beast.
"Should we check out what's going on?" Naze asked as he looked at Max.
"I don't think we will find anything if we go now." Max shook his head.
Besides, he knew that he would soon find out about it anyway.
After all, he clearly felt a suppressing feeling from the fluctuations just now. There were not many people who could do that to him because of his buff. And, Max knew one of these people who was currently out searching for Rihanna probably.
…
When Max and Naze got back to Scarlet House, they saw that the entire place was in chaos. And, it was not only the Scarlet House, even the city was filled with a weird atmosphere ever since that explosion.
The People of Union were literally crawling all across the streets. And, the security levels were heightened all around the city.
Max ignored everything, and turned on the television to see how the Competitions were proceeding.
And, just like he expected, August was still holding out. He was not someone who would easily be knocked out after all. And, according to the plan, he was on a fierce trail after Arnold.
The two of them had literally battled out throughout the competitions until now. And, Arnold definitely was not a match of August. Hence, he was forced to flee. Arthur too was present in the competition, and was going very strong honestly.
But, it was still hard to say what the outcome of the match would be.
….
Academy Quarters, Ishtar…
"Be ready. We will be leaving tomorrow morning," Bayu said as he looked at the three people in front of him.
Mark, Mr. Cool and Wilson stood together with him near the stairways. There were students nearby, but none of them probably knew what they were talking about. To them it only seemed either like a friendly conversation, or some kind of showdown.
"This soon?" Mark asked with a frown as he gave Wilson a glance. He knew that this guy was finally spending some happy days after a long time. And, yet it had only been a few days.
"Yes, now. I will have to leave you guys, and then return back to Ocien as well," Bayu replied.
Well, it actually wasn't him. But, it was for Beli. Without Beli there was no way that they could sneak into the Demon Territory.
Of course, he didn't say it to them.
They only knew that Max had an alliance with the Demon Princess, and not that the Princess was Beli.
It was Beli's request, and Max had allowed it to be kept a secret. She wanted to maintain her human identity. And, it was obvious that they put a lot of effort in the identity of Beli. No wonder Max couldn't find anything odd about her. So, it would be really bad if her fake identity got out.
After a little talk, they separated…
"What are you going to do?" Mark asked as he looked at Wilson. He knew the guy might be a little upset.
"What is there to do? We are doing this for Lear," Wilson replied with a smile. "I was just worried that he wouldn't say we are doing it a day late."
Wilson was actually ready to depart right now if asked. He had already talked about it with Anna. And, she was too worried about Lear. The guy had once risked his life to save her. There was no way that she would be selfish and disregard his health.
…
And, the next morning came…
Max woke up, and his mood soon turned for worse at the bad news.
It was a message from Old man Sun.
It said that Rihanna was gone. She was no longer in Ocien. And, he had apparently discovered the traces of spatial fluctuation created by Space Crystals. It was not an exaggeration to believe that she had been teleported to some far away place.
After all, if they had to take her somewhere nearby, there was no need to use such a costly method.
They could literally hire a Supreme to take her away from the place. And, even that would work perfectly if they wanted to bring her across cities.
"You gotta be kidding me.." Max's face was extremely ugly as he called for a meeting. He was just having a headache thinking about the chaos that Synthia would cause over this incident.
As for Rihanna, well, the girl was nice and kind. Max indeed felt bad for her. But, the feelings definitely were not that strong, they had barely known each after all.
A vein definitely did pop on his forehead though.
This could be considered to be the hardest situation that Max had faced until now. Even though things seemed to be going well on the surface, it actually wasn't.
There were too many forces and people stronger than him here. It was extremely difficult to achieve a victory, and that too without harming their own people. After all, if he had to destroy, he could have used the promise with Old man Sun, and killed Talia and everyone who dared to stop him.
But, that definitely wasn't something he wanted to do.
