Chapter 799 Gambling
Chapter 799 Gambling
"Shall we?"
Max smiled at her as his face twitched. How could he not understand that she was deliberately doing it. She was clearly the one type of friend who would push you in trouble in public and make you do things that you didn't want to.
"Well, I guess…it will be fun.." Max nodded helplessly.
Preston's lips curled up into a mocking smile, but he obviously controlled his expression. How could he not mock Max after seeing what had happened?
He could clearly see that Max had agreed to it because of Synthia. To him, Max looked like a fool who had no idea about Synthia's reality. It was obvious that Max's efforts were going to be useless. The girl didn't go that way after all.
'What an idiot..' Preston muttered inwardly.
"Well, Let's start the game then.." Travis said with a smile, and then the game began.
A Game master arranged by the Place soon arrived at their table. And, to one's surprise, this person was an Expert Tier Mage. The middle aged man looked at the guests and smiled before he asked, "Which game would you like to play, Esteemed Guests?"
"Let's go with something very simple…all on luck.." Preston said, and then looked at Max, "Is that fine right? I just want to see whose luck is better?"
"Sure.." Max didn't have any gambling skill, and hence he couldn't ask for any better.
The game was a simple one. It was one where one had to guess the number on the dice.
The middle aged man took out a cup with a dice in it, and the next instant, a formation lit on the cup, and the table as well.
This surprised Max a little. He didn't think that these ordinary looking items were equipment with formations engraved on them. And, from the looks of it, it was not anything less than 7* formation.
Talk about being extravagant.
But, this at the same time would ensure that nobody was able to cheat.
With a shake of his hand, the Game Master shook the cup. His movements were definitely that of an experienced man.
And, finally with a twist of his hand, the cup landed on the table
"It's time for you to bid…my esteemed guests.."
"Let's start with a little among them.." Preston smiled, and then with a flick of his hand, he placed his amount on no. 6, "One million.."
Max's face twitched a little. He was indeed rich, a million at this point was nothing to him. His Master had already given him a card, and to be honest, Max wasn't sure if the card even had a limit.
But, even with all of these, he had always been careful with money. He didn't squander it in a wasteful manner. And, here this guy was…
"Well, then I shall go with Brother Preston's foresight as well.." Travis smiled, and extended his bid as well, "500,000 No. 6.."
Erina refrained herself from the stupid stuff, and had no interest. Synthia on the other hand was looking at Max with a smile.
Max shook his head helplessly, and then randomly placed a bid on No. 2, with 500,000 as well. There was a rule that the bid couldn't be less than 50% of the first bid. Hence, he had no other choice here.
The Game Master's face had a wide grin on it, he definitely was happy with so much money pouring on the table. He knew for sure that he was going to get a huge cut today, and this was only the beginning of the game.
In front of everyone's eyes, the cup was slowly lifted revealing a no. 6.
"Hahah!!!" Travis let out a laughter of happiness seeing the result. He was more happy for the fact that Max had lost. Preston on the other hand had a slight smile on his face as well.
"You are truly too good…No one can beat you..Brother Preston.." Travis once again began his praises for the guy.
Erina shook her head looking at the scene. She had wanted to warn Max that this guy was indeed good at this, after all, he had been winning since they came here. But, before she could do anything, Synthia had already pushed Max into it.
"Let's begin the second round.." Travis was excited, and as if he was afraid that Max would back out, he asked for the second round immediately.
"Two million.." Preston increased the amount, and both Max and Travis followed the suit.
A few seconds later, Travis's laughter once again roared across the hall. It seemed that he was having the time of his life.
Synthia finally had a little frown on her face, it was one thing if he lucked out on the first attempt. But, continuously? Something definitely didn't feel right..
There was a chance that he had the Game Master in his pocket, but from the looks of it, it didn't' seem to be the case. If not, was it possible that he really had the skill to decipher the number just from the movement of the cup?
Synthia found it hard to believe. But, there was nothing that she could do about it. She had no proof, and even if she did, she couldn't possibly expose and embarrass her own brother in public, otherwise it would definitely lead to trouble back at home.
Max on the other hand looked at Preston, and sighed inwardly. He truly felt a pity for the Ancient Families.
If these were the standards of their Youths, then Max was afraid that they were arrogant for nothing.
At first he thought it was a problem with his eyesight, but not anymore. This b*stard was actually using a 9* Equipment to cheat.
Max really couldn't believe it. This level of equipment was very rare even in Noble Houses, and they might have one to two at most, and now one was being used here to cheat in a gambling match.
Some people would surely puke blood in anger if they were to find out about it.
"Want to go for another round? If it's tough, we can call it out.." Preston smiled at Max.
"I can go on for one more round..I guess. I hope my luck is good this time around," Max replied with a smile. Since the other person was cheating, why did he need to hold back?
'Let's see how much money the Young Master from the Ancient Family..' An evil smile leaked out on Max's face.
