Chapter 801 He Is Here
Chapter 801 He Is Here
A group had gathered around at the third floor of the Noble's Palace. It was the gambling floor of the luxurious organisation, and right now, an intense match was going on, and that was the reason that people had gathered around.
"Again!!'
"7 million!!"
"Again!!!"
"10 Million!!'
Preston was shaking in anger as he continuously made bids, and ended up losing again and again.
Travis by this time already had quit bidding. He was already out of all his savings, and his face looked extremely ugly as if he had been fed shit.
Max on the other hand was playing cleverly as well. He didn't dare to win continuously as even a fool would notice that something was wrong with it. Hence, he decided to tie a couple of rounds before winning. He would actually make the dice to take numbers which neither of them would have made a bid on, and hence there would be no winners.
For Max, this was all too easy. He had spirit energy, and hence could easily look over formations, and his Telekinesis was there for him to turn the dice around according to his will. There was no way that he was losing this.
'What's going on?' Preston almost wanted to pull his hair out in confusion. He couldn't understand what was going on. At first he thought that Max was cheating, but then for Max to cheat, it needed him to have a 9* Equipment as well. And, even if he did, it didn't mean that Max could change the numbers inside the dice.
That was just too absurd.
If someone used their mana right in front of him, he could definitely sense it. Of course, if the person was stronger than him, then it was a different matter. And, he didn't think that there was that much of a gap between Max and him.
"I think we should stop it now.." Erina once again spoke up. She knew that Preston had too much pride to say it out of his own mouth, but even his heart would bleed after losing close to 80 million in such a short amount of time.
Synthia on the other hand was grinning from ear to ear. She knew that even if this spoiled brat collected all his savings, he shouldn't have more than 100 million with him. After all, he had always been wasteful.
On the other hand, the Ancient Families were not foolish enough to give unlimited amount of money to their younger generation in order to spoil them.
But, even with that, 100 million was not a small amount. Some of the medium sized noble families in upper society were worth as much as that.
Preston looked at Erina, his eyes completely cold. He didn't take Erina's gesture as a kind one at all. Instead, he felt that it was an insult. But, he once again controlled himself, and swallowed this humiliation.
There were much more important things for him to do ahead. He would have time for his revenge against Max. As for Erina, he would see how long she could remain like this. He would make sure that she wouldn't be able to maintain that haughtiness in front of him.
"Are you sure there is nothing wrong here?" Travis couldn't help but ask the Game Master. He was still having a hard time believing that Max didn't lose a single round.
The Game Master hesitated. Actually, he was already suspecting Max of cheating. He had thrown a few deliberated numbers, but to his surprise, the numbers weren't what he expected them to be. It was either that he had lost his skill or Max was turning the dice somehow.
He couldn't believe either of it, and secondly, there wasn't any proof even if he suspected that Max was cheating. If he just accused him without any proof, he would surely be fired. Hence, there was no way he was going to do something so foolish.
"Esteemed Guest, there is no problem with the game.."
"Are you suspecting us of cheating?" Synthia wasn't planning to let this matter go. She intentionally used 'us' to make it seem that Travis was accusing her.
"Umn..No.." Travis immediately broke out in cold sweat. He knew that the relationship with the Storm House was important, and he didn't dare to offend her.
"He was just expecting there to be some fault in equipment.." Preston spoke up for Travis.
Synthia looked at him, and sneered inwardly, 'As if..'
Still, she wasn't foolish to create trouble in public with her own brother. She cared about the reputation of her own family after all.
"Well, let's end it here then…" Synthia announced. Since she was the one who pushed Max into it, it was her responsibility to pull Max out as well.
…
The show ended, and the group moved to the terrace for dinner.
Synthia had taken a seat by Erina's side before Preston could approach, As for the other, she pulled Travis there as if she was interested in talking with him. That guy could only force a smile on his face and obey Synthia in that situation.
Max on the other hand sat by Preston's side.
"How is it going? I heard that some difficulties have popped up recently?"
Since Synthia wasn't allowing him to talk with Erina, Preston turned his attention towards Max. He was planning to mock the guy for his failures, and Rihanna's kidnapping as well as the lack of morale of the team.
"Thank you for your concerns. But there is nothing for you to worry about. We will do what needs to be done." Max gave him a calm smile.
'Pretend all you want…' Preston snorted inwardly. He knew more than anybody that it was going to be hell in Ocien for Max to complete his objective. It might as well turn into his grave. After all, the Demons weren't going to let him do as he pleased here.
"How is it going for you? I heard about the business that you are here for? From the looks of it, I don't think it's going that well.." Max smiled as he looked at the guy, and then shifted his gaze towards Erina.
Preston clenched his fist as he looked at Max.
At this moment, Max suddenly felt something and a smile leaked out on his face, 'Uh..he is here..'
