Chapter 143
Chapter 143
143 Avenge Mr. Twiggles
Zi Han was puffing his chest in pride having managed to achieve the impossible. Once he got the hang of repairing mech parts his enthusiasm shot through the roof.
He wanted to repair other parts as well but each time he was done working on one it was either contorted in a weird way or it was dented in places it shouldn’t be.
By the time class was done Professor Quinn was crying tears of blood seeing these mech parts that were ruined by this ancestor.
Yes sure they were B-class mech repair parts but for this mech master every mech no matter what class was very important to him.
While this professor was weeping over his mech parts, the culprit was walking with a slight bounce in his step in a good mood. He hadn’t slept well for the past week because he was afraid he would be kicked out of class one.
Even after his tutoring session with Yi Chen came to an end he would stay up trying to follow through with the steps Yi Chen taught him.
He was at the point where he had nightmares about failing mech repair class each time he closed his eyes. That old man would be right in his face his beard quivering while telling him to get lost.
Everyone has that one subject in school that keeps them awake. After studying so hard and finishing the exam there is that sense of solace that washes over one’s mind. Well, that is until the results are close to coming out.
That sense of solace was what Zi Han was feeling at this moment. Thus he was in such a good mood that he didn’t refuse Yi Chen when he invited him out to a cafe in the fashion district just a few blocks away from campus.
.....
He let Yi Chen lead him to the parking lot by the elbow without offering much resistance. When he saw that familiar hoverbike Zi Han’s eyes shone bright like stars on a moonless night.
He wanted to drive this sweet baby again but when Yi Chen saw his expression his body shuddered involuntarily.
“Not happening,” he blurted out a response only for Zi Han to turn back and stare at him all wide-eyed.
“You!.... You just tore up my little shark. Uh, Mr. Twiggles died for nothing,” said Zi Han channeling his inner drama king just like his grandfather.
He pointed his finger at Yi Chen and continued his act, “The one surnamed Yi won’t even compensate me for it. How heartless.”
Yi Chen grabbed Zi Han’s finger and pulled him close while whispering, “The way you are crying it’s like I killed your child or something. Look everyone is staring at us.”
Zi Han who had closed his eyes for dramatic effect opened one eye a tiny slit and sure enough, passersby were glancing in their direction.
The military academy wasn’t short on beautiful people men and women alike. This means that this pair wouldn’t attract much attention but because one of them was the future Marshal who only ever hung out with Li Ran their curiosity was piqued.
The corner of Zi Han’s lips quirked up and Yi Chen had a very bad presentiment. Zi Han whispered through his teeth, “Yes you did. That was my firstborn child and you killed him. Now you refuse to compensate..... Let me drive or I will avenge Mr. Twiggles by causing a scene.”
Yi Chen was at a loss. It seemed he was starting to see another side of Zi Han that he had never seen before. But instead of thinking deeply about it, he was very happy.
Why? It was because to him this was progress. Zi Han was now so comfortable with him that he didn’t mind brandishing his claws. This was good.... very good.
Yi Chen wore a silly smile while gently pressing Zi Han’s finger. But Zi Han suddenly freed his finger to continue with his dramatic act.
But before he could open his mouth Yi Chen covered it and dragged him to the hoverbike. “Fine you can drive but not too fast,” he said before gently pushing Zi Han onto it.
“Hehehe.....,” snickered Zi Han as he hopped on and messed around with the display screen of the hoverbike. His vision was suddenly blocked as a helmet was placed on top of his head.
Those two fox eyes peeked through the open helmet visor as he smiled happily. “Hurry up and get on,” said Zi Han like a kid rushing their parent to go get ice cream before the shop closes.
Yi Chen didn’t mind. With a slight quirk at the corner of his mouth, Yi Chen put on his helmet and sat behind Zi Han. Since Zi Han wanted to drive then the wouldn’t be anything wrong with him wrapping his arms around Zi Han’s waist.
Having grown bold recently using the banner of friendship he wrapped his arm around the youth’s waist and couldn’t wait to rest his chin on Zi Han’s shoulder.
But before he could move closer Zi Han shuffled uncomfortably as he turned his face to look behind him.
“Why are you holding me so tight? It’s not like you will really fall off,” said Zi Han while staring at Yi Chen in the corner of his eye but Yi Chen didn’t respond.
That’s because Zi Han’s face was so close to his. If it weren’t for the helmets blocking his way he was sure his lips would have brushed past those cheeks.
He suddenly felt regretful. His chest tightened with his gaze darting between those long curly eyelashes fluttering each time Zi Han blinked and those moist lips moving as he spoke.
Yi Chen found himself moving a little closer his heart almost leaping out of his chest. He had never kissed anyone before but his body responded naturally as he drew closer.
His entire body tensed up as he licked his lower lip and gulped with his Adam’s apple rolling up and down. As Zi Han’s warm breath brushed past his face time seemed to slow down at that moment. Zi Han was saying something completely unaware of the current situation but that didn’t stop Yi Chen.
In fact, he wanted to kiss Zi Han and block the words of complaint coming from his lips. He was so deep in the moment that he forgot the issue with the helmets. With them in the way, it would be very difficult to reach Zi Han’s lips with his.
Unexpectedly, Zi Han turned his face away and started the hoverbike his expression that of an oblivious little fluffy bunny who had no idea that he had survived an attack from the big bad wolf.
Before Yi Chen could recover his face was suddenly slapped by a massive breeze making his eyes water. The visor of the helmet shut closed on its own as he held on tightly.
