The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 359

Chapter 359

359 When you said you loved me, did you mean it?

‘Break up, break break break break, let’s break up,’ were the words ringing in Yi Chen’s mind making his head throb. His heart felt numb like it had been immersed in liquid nitrogen and he couldn’t feel anything anymore.

Yi Chen felt shivers all over his body. His lips trembled and he smiled in pain. The vein on his forehead became more prominent like it was going to burst. “You must be messing with me,” said Yi Chen lowering his head with his hand resting on the back of his neck.

As though mimicking each other subconsciously, Zi Han lowered his head too with his hand rubbing the back of his neck.

“I am not...,” replied Zi Han his voice brittle like he was about to cry, “I am not good for you.” A large teardrop fell like a missile landing on his calf before sliding down his leg slowly.

“I want to see you... let me see you,” whispered Yi Chen before requesting a video call.

Zi Han misunderstood what he meant thus he shook his head while saying, “I can’t do that... please understand me.”

“Accept it... baby... accept the video call. I want to see you,” he said and Zi Han raised his head having finally understood his meaning. He wiped the tears off his face and ruffled his hair while saying, “I look so horrible. I don’t... I mean I can’t see you like this.”

Yi Chen knew he had to take a firm and stubborn approach otherwise Zi Han would undoubtedly leave him. “I don’t care what you look like. I just want to see your face. Can’t you do this one thing for me?”

Zi Han wasn’t prepared to see him but since this was probably the last time they would speak like this, he decided it was okay to grant his wish. He accepted the video call request and the pair that hadn’t seen each other ever since that night finally faced each other. When Zi Han saw how worn out Yi Chen was his heart ached so much that he just wanted to reach in through the light brain and hug him.

.....

“Han Han...,” called out Yi Chen in a gentle whisper, “I... we can’t break up. Whatever it is I can fix it but breaking up is not an option... We a bound together for life, don’t you understand?”

Zi Han who still felt a sharp pain in his hand from having it broken didn’t seem as convinced. The Marshal was right, they were at two opposites of the poles, and being together only brought harm to Yi Chen. If he persists on this it will only hurt the person he loves and he wasn’t going to do that to him.

“You, you can’t fix it. There is nothing to fix. We just can’t be together anymore so let’s bre-,” he said but Yi Chen interrupted him.

He couldn’t hear those words coming out of Zi Han’s lips again.

“Don’t... don’t say it again. When you said you loved me, did you mean it?” asked Yi Chen and Zi Han stared at him blankly for a while. He wanted to say no but that would be a lie and it would hurt Yi Chen so much. He imagined Yi Chen saying it to him and he didn’t like the feeling at all.

“I meant it... but,” said Zi Han only for him to stop talking when he saw the smile on Yi Chen’s face.

Yi Chen got up and walked to the hovercar with Yi Feng following behind him a little puzzled. “Then it’s worth fighting for. You can’t break up with me. I won’t accept it, okay?” said Yi Chen as a glint of obsession flickered in his eyes.

He wasn’t going to accept it even if Zi Han broadcasted it on StarNet for all to see. After saying those words to him how could Yi Chen let him go? That wasn’t going to happen.

“Come on, don’t make things harder than they should be. You don’t understand your father he...,” said Zi Han only to stop himself from saying it. He didn’t want the relationship between the pair of father and son strained. He understood the feeling of not having a father around and despite the fact that Marshal Yi had threatened him to leave his son, Zi Han still didn’t want Yi Chen to have a terrible relationship with his father.

“What? What did my father do? Was he... was he the one that took you away that day?” asked Yi Chen but Zi Han didn’t speak. If he tried to explain, Yi Chen would know that he would be lying just to cover it up.

“Let it go,” said Zi Han but who was Yi Chen? He was more stubborn than the Marshal himself.

Yi Chen smiled at Zi Han before saying, “It’s okay if you don’t want to say I will still find it... What is your new contact? I don’t want to find you through your grandfather again.”

Zi Han chuckled lightly his once tear-stained face dry already. “This is a break up so why should I give it to you,” he said with his voice getting lower the more he spoke. He thought it was a good enough reason to give to him but when he said it aloud it hurt so much that he couldn’t help but rub his chest.

“I will give you two hours. If you don’t give it to me I will show up in front of you at your warship and broadcast it live. I will call you husband in front of everybody,” he said sounding very serious.

“If you do that your dad will kill you. Is that what you want?” asked Zi Han but Yi Chen’s response had him dead.

“Then it would be worth it. It’s worth the risk,” replied Yi Chen before reminding him again, “Two hours.”

Zi Han, “...”

How did a breakup suddenly turn into this? He knew Yi Chen was stubborn just not this stubborn. The man simply wouldn’t accept his words no matter how hard he tried to say it. Zi Han raised his recovering hand and scratched the tip of his nose while saying, “it’s not worth it to me if you end up losing everything.”

“Baby, what happened to your hand?” asked Yi Chen having noticed something was wrong with Zi Han.
