545 Severing father and son relationship

The Lin family home wasn’t any better. Yi Chen had already been pacing up and down waking everybody up. He was even supervising the dishes in the kitchen which was something his mother and grandmother were supposed to be doing.

“What are you... Yi Chen, get out,” yelled grandma Lin while chasing her grandson out of the kitchen. Lin Ruoxi couldn’t help but laugh.

“He is just a little nervous,” said Lin Ruoxi and grandma Lin couldn’t help but bring back the topic from yesterday.

“What sort of vixen has him running around the kitchen like a damn housefly?” she said and Lin Ruoxi couldn’t help but stifle a laugh.

Wait until her mother met Zi Han, she wouldn’t help but fall in love too. When she saw Yi Chen’s smile at that coffee shop she knew that they were meant to be together. Anyone that made her son that happy deserved her entire wealth.

“Ma, didn’t you say you will be nice?” asked Lin Ruoxi stir frying the vegetables.

“I know. And I am happy he is happy but he should be happy elsewhere but not in my kitchen,” said grandma Lin laying done the law.

“That boy can’t even cook. He will burn my entire kitchen down,” she continued to say. Lin Ruoxi couldn’t even deny that.

After being chased out of the kitchen, Yi Chen checked the time and so that there were ten minutes left so he messaged Zi Han.

.....

Han’sHusband: Baby, where are you now?

He didn’t get a response immediately making him a little nervous. He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply trying to calm his tense nerves when he heard his grandfather calling his name.

“Ah-Chen, come here for a second,” called out his grandfather who was sitting in the garden pergola drinking with the uncles.

“Damn, I have never seen any other expression on his face. Look at him. He is so nervous,” said his mother’s cousin while his uncle handed him a drink.

Grandpa Lin side-hugged his grandson with a proud smile. “You bagged Zi Xingxi’s kid and survived. Do you know how lucky you are?” he said before taking a sip of his beer.

“Very lucky. She would have buried you a long time ago. You would be a missing person by now. Ask your uncle Jess. He once tried to ask her out and almost lost an eye,” said his mother’s cousin the two of them finding it hilarious.

“Congratulations. We wish you a happy marriage. You better not let him go. There is no one in this world who can love you as he does,” said grandpa Lin recalling how her daughter was crying all the time until Zi Han left to get Yi Chen back.

“Too a happy marriage and plenty of children,” said uncle Lin raising the can up high.

“I will drink to that,” said cousin Lin before drinking it all down. Yi Chen drank to the happy marriage part but not the plenty of children part.

“And there he is. He looks like he has it rough,” said uncle Lin watching his brother in law trying to convince his sister to forgive him.

“He offended sister Ru. He knew it wouldn’t be easy,” said cousin Lin before taking a good sip.

It was like watching a dog blooded drama for free. More like a sad romantic movie of a man trying to win his lover back.

When grandpa Lin saw that her daughter was getting mad he yelled, “Ru-er, play nice!”

Lin Ruoxi pressed the tip of her tongue on her sharp canines almost wishing to bite him to death. “This is not over,” she said before going back into the house.

The dejected former Marshal wanted to follow her but Grandpa Lin for once didn’t want to make it difficult for him. “Ah-Zhen, come join us,” he called out and Yi Zhen hesitated. This old man had threatened him when he messed with Zi Han so he was a little afraid of being scolded twice in one day.

Left with no choice he walked over looking very dejected. When he reached the pergola everyone except his son was very welcoming. His son just stood by his grandfather not saying a word. It was like they were strangers yet they were father and son.

“So you two are still not talking, huh?” he asked and Yi Chen looked away. The old man couldn’t help but sigh. He understood why Yi Chen was angry but this couldn’t go on.

Yi Zhen who was being ignored by his wife and his son couldn’t stand it anymore. “What should I do to fix it?” said Yi Zhen genuinely asking. He had no idea what to do. His wife was even more difficult to coax than before and his son was giving him that mean look all the time like he was about to fight him.

Yi Chen took a sip of the cold beer before asking, “Did you apologise to him?”

“I did,” he expressed a little emotional. He had already given up his antique rifle and now he was about to give up his mine for him so wasn’t that sincere enough?

Any wise man wouldn’t and shouldn’t say this but being unintelligent emotionally he said it all. Even grandpa Lin couldn’t save him.

“That’s the problem... Do you think that giving him these things will make up for all of it? Is he lacking in all of these?” asked Yi Chen his body language speaking volumes.

Grandpa Lin was even afraid that they will sever ties here as father and son so he decided to talk to Yi Chen alone.

“It’s alright, it’s alright. Let’s go talk for a while,” he said and led him away.

Yi Zhen was seriously frustrated at this point. Not even a cold beer could clear his mind. “Don’t worry brother in law. It will work out in the end. Just buy jiejie fireworks and done, she is coaxed,” he said while handing an icy cold one.

“This is why I am single,” said cousin Lin only for uncle Lin to dunk cold water on him.

“No, you are single because you are petty and everybody knows that,” he said.
