Chapter 74 Critical Condition
After taking care of everything, Yao Tang returned to her school.
That night, she had spent her hours studying when she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. After taking out her phone, she saw that it was Cheng Yan.
It was so late. What’s the matter?
Holding her phone, she walked into the bathroom.
As soon as she had reached the bathroom, she noticed that her phone was ringing.
“What’s the matter?”
“Yao Tang, can you go to the capital now? She’s in critical condition again.”
The moment the call had been connected, Cheng Yan’s gravelly voice echoed from the other end of the line.
As soon as she had heard his voice, she pursed his lips. “Didn’t she take my prescription on time?” she demanded. That was the only reason why something would have gone wrong. “I don’t know,” he panted. “I’ll pick you up at the school gate.”
Yao Tang pursed her lips.
The Cheng family was complicated. She didn’t want to get involved, but she wasn’t going to give up on her Hippocratic Oath. She took a deep breath.
“Okay,” she finally agreed.
Cheng Yan sighed in relief. “Thank you.”
The girl carried her black bag and stepped out of the school gate. The night sky shone over her head when she saw a black SUV parked by the roadside.
Cheng Yan stood under the cold streetlight. His slender fingers were curled around his cigarette. He exhaled as a puff of smoke pooled over his head. He wore a black windbreaker that gave off a certain chill to anyone around him. As soon as he saw the girl, he extinguished the flame and threw it into the trash can.
Yao Tang moved towards him as the dark night glittered behind her.
The two didn’t waste any time with formalities.
“Get in,” he stated, pulling the car door open.
Yao Tang bent down and got into the car.
As soon as all of them were seated, Qin Hao started the car.
Cheng Yan tilted his head and stared at Yao Tang. Just as he was about to say something, she pinched the brim of her hat and pulled it down to cover half of her face. She changed her position to face the window, closing her eyes.
It seemed that she wasn’t in the mood to bother with him.
He narrowed his eyes.
It seemed that he had troubled her yet again.
Should he coax her?
After thinking about it for a while, he leaned over and opened the storage box in the front. His eyes glinted as he pulled out a box of white chocolates. Yao Tang felt something poking at her leg. Opening her eyes, she glanced to the side. The box was propped open, displaying a row of chocolates.
There were black and white engravings on the box, with the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs plastered on the center. It was the limited-edition chocolates she had seen on the internet!
It must’ve costed 37,000 yuan!
How rich of him.
Yao Tang slowly lifted her head, revealing her delicate nose and lips. Pinching a piece of chocolate, she stuffed it into her mouth. The sweet taste lingered in her taste buds.
Her face softened.
Cheng Yan used this as an opportunity to say, “The old lady’s condition was much better a few days ago, but it suddenly became worse tonight. She fainted just a few minutes ago.”
There was a few minutes of silence when she said, “We have to ask Cheng Wei about this.”
His eyes narrowed. “Are you trying to say that you didn’t use the prescription they’ve left behind?”
“Hm.”
Her eyes were as cold as ice.
Doctors shouldn’t be conceited no matter what. They should not put their arrogance first over the health of their patients.
Who’d have thought that the most famous female brain specialist in the medical organization would be so closed-minded to change?
Ha!
Qin Hao blinked in disbelief. Just now, was Cheng Yang trying to coax Miss Yao?
What was going on?
A group of people immediately entered the gates of Cheng Residences.
Yao Tang walked behind Cheng Yan, nodding lazily at him. Just like that day, the old lady’s courtyard was filled with her descendants. They were all very famous people in their own respective sectors. As soon as they saw Cheng Yan and Yao Tang, all of them bowed their heads in guilt.
Cheng Wei had truly caused such big trouble for all of them.
Without another word, he brought Yao Tang and led her straight into the old woman’s room.
Even Cheng Ruo didn’t stop them.
Cheng Wei had been discussing the treatment plan with her fellow doctors. She had a frown on her face, and her heart was heavy.
“Miss Cheng, I believe it’s best to operate. If we don’t do this operation today, the old lady will lose her life.” One of the doctors wiped the cold sweat off his forehead.
Cheng Wei glanced at all of the woman’s files. “Let’s wait a little longer. Maybe I’ll find another alternative for this.”
If Yao Tang had been able to stop the blood clot, she must be able to do it too. There was nothing Chinese Medicine could do that Western Medicine couldn’t.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open.
As soon as Cheng Wei saw the pair, she clenched her fists on the records. “What are you doing here?”
Yao Tang stared at the old lady. Her face looked livid as her entire body was subjected to plastic tubes and strong medication.
She gritted her teeth.
“You tell me.”
In an instant, the atmosphere had dropped a couple of degrees.
