Chapter 94 Do You Want to Fight?
Yao Tang scanned through rows of books before stopping in front of a Medical Dictionary. Grabbing the spine, she pulled it out from the shelf and flipped through a few pages.
It was written in English, but she had no problem reading through it. Her narrowed eyes darted across the page, trying to search for any familiar terminologies in neurology.
After Meng Yang had already picked out his workbooks, they all returned to look for Yao
Tang.
When they found her in the foreign novels section, they froze, stunned by the young woman. While they know that she was smart, they still couldn’t help but be surprised by how much she really knew.
She didn’t even raise her head to acknowledge her presence. “Give me a few more minutes,” she stated.
The few of them were extremely quiet as they stared at her hunched figure. She spent the next minutes speedily flipping through the books one by one. Finally, she settled on a German medical book before nodding. “Alright, let’s go.”
Lin Xin blinked, hesitantly handing over the extra examination materials in her arms. “Ah, Yao Tang,” she started. “I’ve picked your book too.”
“Aren’t you thoughtful?” She smiled teasingly, pinching her cheeks.
With an arm around Lin Xin’s shoulder, they headed toward the cashier.
Meng Yang, Chu Yao, and the others stared at their friends, completely dumbfounded with what they had just seen.
Yao Tang was holding her book with one hand. And as they were walking behind her, they couldn’t help but see the book’s title. Despite this, they couldn’t really recognize the title.
Shen Huan had to use the Google Translate option to figure out the words he had just seen-NeuroSCE (Neurology). That was the title of the book.
Xiao Pang slowly inched towards Meng Yang. “Brother Yang,” he whispered. “Sister Tangbought a lot of German books. Can she even understand them?”
“Maybe she bought them for someone else?” Chu Yao suggested.
While Yao Tang was smart, she couldn’t possibly know German at such a young age. Moreover, to read such a deeply terminological book at such a young age was a feat in itself. Perhaps, she really was buying it for someone else.
After paying the bill, they all headed out, only to run into Yao Ran and a couple of other people by the entrance. It seemed that they were mostly Yao Ran’s deskmates, as well as a few other admirers from different classes.
The bookstore was the closest to No. 1 High School, and it also boasted the largest collection of any books that they may need. Whenever a test was near, they’d all crowd in the building to find a book that suited their needs.
It wasn’t totally surprising to bump into them here.
After the incident with Yang Rong, Meng Yang couldn’t help but scrunch his nose up in disgust at the sight of Yao Ran. There were really girls who’d look sweet and innocent on the outside, and vicious on ht inside.
He couldn’t believe that this kind of girl would sill be a place higher than Lu Yan?
Was Lu Yan going to be okay?
“Ah, it seems that you’re also here to buy books?” As soon as Yao Ran saw her, she smiled gently. It was as if the incident in the corridor hadn’t happened.
The other boys frowned, eyeing Yao Tang warily. They still didn’t move away.
And her disgust was quite obvious.
Yao Tang’s eyes glazed over, and her jaw clenched. It was as if someone had brought over a plate of rotten fish.
The atmosphere felt like it had dropped by several degrees. However, instead of scowling and being on her way, the corners of her lips curled up into a sinister smile. “Don’t be so fake,” she said snidely.
As the words had slipped past her lips, she shoved her bag into Meng Yang’s arms and took a step forward.
In an instant, even Meng Yang and the others froze, anticipating their friend’s movements. The boys on the other side, however, were practically quaking in their boots.
Was she going to beat them up right then and there?
It wouldn’t be easy to manage such a fight here.
Especially with so many people.
Yet, Yao Tang didn’t seem to be afraid at all.
One of the guys from Class One didn’t seem too scared of the young girl. At least, he’d like to think it that way. Instead, he took a step forward and raised his head. “What are you even looking at us for?” he snapped. “Do you want to fight?”
She snorted. “Fight?”
Suddenly, the smile on her face dissipated. “It wouldn’t be much of a fight.”
None of them dared to make a sound.
There was something about her bloodshot eyes and makeshift snarl that made it seem as if they were being strangled themselves. While the boys of Class 1 held their ground, even Meng Yang could see the sweat beading down their foreheads.
The air was stiff and cold.
Backing his friend up, he crossed his arms and took a step forward. “Are you guys trying to block our way?”
Chu Yao sneered. “Brother Yang, do they really think they’re going to win in this fight? Against us?”
Immediately, every single one of the boys from Class One had turned instantly red at the sight Their glares hardened. If it hadn’t been for Meng Yang and the others, they would’ve already gone ahead and taught this bitch a lesson a long time ago.
Shen Huan held onto Lin Xin’s arm. “Sister Tang, let’s go,” he called softly. “We’re getting hungry.”
There was a small pause before she shot Yao Ran one last look. “Mind your business.”
Without another word, she shoved her hands back into her pockets and strolled down the steps.
Class One immediately stepped aside to make room for her.
Yao Ran tensed just a bit before saying, “Sister, my birthday’s coming up this weekend. All of our relatives will be there. Dad wants you to come home early that night, to celebrate, of course.”
Yao Tang didn’t even stop. Instead, she just continued walking. Her other friends followed right behind her.
With a sigh, Yao Ran lowered her gaze.
After everyone had left, the boy beside her sneered. “Ranran, did you see the books that Yao Tang had just bought? They’re all in a different language, and they’re all medical books! She’s just a country bumpkin. Does she really think she could understand them?” He scoffed. “How pathetic.”
