Chapter 502

Brittany strutted over to her desk, slamming her laptop shut with a resonating “Nope”

Derek knew better than to pry further, so he handed her a key card instead. “This is a new place I just bought. I had it decorated to your taste, and the security is top-notch. Check it out when you have the time.”

Brittany took the key card with a nonchalant “Sure,” clearly not too fussed about it. She wasnt exactly lacking in real estate.

Even though the Bishop family had seen better days, Katelin was still loaded and spoiled Brittany rotten

Randell Moore had also gifted her several properties. She just didn’t fancy living in any of them.

She much preferred staying in hotels where there were other people around

Derek didn’t linger. He needed to report back.

He pushed open the door to Radiant Residences. The lights in the living room were already off, leaving only the soft glow of nightlights illuminating the hallway The warm, golden light made the place feel cozy.

He climbed the stairs to the third floor.

When he pushed open the door to the study, sure enough, Isaac was still awake.

The man was dressed in a sharp black suit and sitting in a leather chair, his cold eyes fixed on the computer screen. He looked cold and deep

“Zac.”

For the past five years, Isaac had been as cold as ice to everyone. Derek wasnt used to it at first, but hed gotten used to it.

He walked over to the desk, handed over the investigation files, and sat down. “The one who took Daniel is a young woman named Luna Garcia. She has

no connections with you”

He had altered the investigation files. Brittany didn’t want anything to do with Isaac anymore.

All he could do was help her keep her identity a secret

Isaac flipped through the files. Luna Garcia. He had no connections with that person. Luna Garcia was from out of town and was staying long-term at a hotel for work. She was married and had a happy family life.

“Got it.”

According to the files, the woman who took Daniel didn’t cause any trouble. She even had a meal with him and arranged for the police to bring him back She clearly didn’t mean any harm,

Seeing that Isaac didn’t have any suspicions, Derek let out a sigh of relief.

They chit chatted about work for a bit, and Derek shook his head at the mention of the machines on the production line.

“Zac, you’ve been working too hard over the years. Nathan’s nearly worn out. Give him a few days off”

Isaac paused. He knew his employees had been complaining about being overworked.

“Double the year-end bonuses.”

Even money-loving Derek couldn’t resist the allure of money. He agreed, “Alright, we can work with that.”

As long as the pay was good, they’d give it their all!

Isaac went back to his paperwork. Derek looked at him, feeling a pang of sympathy. After a while, he broke the silence. You’re not planning on visiting her this year, either?”

Five years ago, when the news of Brittany’s death broke, Isaac had passed out for a week.

By the time he woke up, he had missed her funeral.

In the five years since then, he had never once visited her grave

And he never mentioned Brittany.

People around him thought he was cold-hearted. Even someone he used to care so deeply for, he never mourned or mentioned

But those close to him knew that he hadn’t had a moment of happiness in those five years.

Derek couldn’t understand it. He knew Isaac was in love with Brittany. How could he get tangled up with Shona Bennett, indirectly leading to the death of

their child?

“Get out

Isaac’s tone was icy, filled with warning.

Derek knew he didn’t want to talk about it. After a pause, he stood up.

He took a few steps, then turned back “Daniel is your son after all. You should try to build a relationship with him, Don’t let people think there’s bad blood between you”

His advice was met with silence.

Derek shut the door behind him and strode out of Radiant Residences.

The night was hazy. Derek drove aimlessly, eventually ending up at the Chester family’s house.

„Ever since Brittany’s accident, Hannah Chester had left NK Corporation and officially joined the Chester family’s company.

She was smart and had plenty of work experience. She was doing exceptionally well in the company.

In the first year or two, Hannah was always cold toward him. It wasn’t until the news that Brittany was still alive that their relationship started to warm up. He looked up at the second-floor room on the left

Hannah loved gardening, and by summer, her balcony was filled with blooming jasmine plants. The small, delicate flowers were scattered among the

greenery

Derek watched the flower bed for a while, then drove off.
